MODEL 1 (for C/C+ grade)

Context: The world of work

Task: You are applying to an agency to find a summer placement abroad and
you are interviewed over the telephone.

Answer the questions which you are asked on the following points, making use of the
suggestions provided. Youll need to speak for 4-6 minutes.

Past experience

Your past work experience: what you did, when and where (e.g. holiday/Saturday
job, work experience, etc.)
What you learned and your opinion

professionnelle ? Tu as fait un stage en entreprise ?

Pour mon stage en entreprise, lanne dernire, je suis alle chez

un vtrinaire pendant une semaine : jai observ des consultations
et des oprations, jai lav les cages et je me suis occupe des
animaux malades. Ctait intressant parce que jai appris
beaucoup de choses mais le vtrinaire ntait pas trs sympa.
Comme autre exprience professionnelle, jai aid mon pre dans son agence de voyage. Je
nai pas aim parce que ctait ennuyeux !

Guidance

Variety of past tenses

Show you know when to use the perfect and the imperfect. Here, the verbs in the perfect (jai
fait, etc) describe what Naveena did during her placement. Ctait is used to give an opinion
about something in the past.

Opinion and justification

Remember to give your opinion (even if youre not directly asked for it) and always try and
explain and justify that opinion (Ctait intressant parce que...)

 Speaking tips

Make sure you pronounce the present and the perfect tense correctly; e.g. Je lave and Jai
lav have to sound different.
Pronounce the ai sound in jai like in day and the sound at the end of the past participle like
in caf.

Now, write a paragraph worth a Grade C and above based on Alexs notes (see below),
using a variety of tenses, opinions and justifications.

Read it out, then record yourself. Are you happy with your performance?

Arrange the phrases into a complete sentence, using a perfect tense.

Use pendant to indicate the duration of the placement.

Use verbs in the perfect tense to describe the different things you did. Remember, aller is
used with tre not avoir.

someone or something in the past.

Possible answer
