(figuratively speaking)? Discuss the significance of blindness (literal and figurative) in this chapter.
Myopia is a lack of imagination, foresight or intellectual insight. The thing that makes Piggy myopic is not
being able to see far without his glasses. Jake is also myopic in the way of lack of intellectual insight for not
being able to see the importance of being rescued.

choose Samneric because out of Ralphs group they seem to be the weakest. Samneric also tried to convince
Ralph to let them wear paint.

After Ralph calls Jack a thief the both of them get into a fight. Piggy advises them to stop. The whole of

D. What is the significance of Piggys injury in this chapter? Is Piggy a static or dynamic character?
How do you know?
The significance of Piggys injury is that other than Ralph Piggy was the last thing that connect the boys to

to him and he has different perspectives on things going on in the island.

Castle Rock?

end of the island until they find Ralph. The twins also gave Ralph a piece of meat.

C. What can you infer Roger and Jack intend to do with the stick that is sharpened at both
ends?
Roger and Jack intend to kill Ralph with the stick sharpened at both ends, because instead of one side just
being sharpened to either hurt or injure him, they plan on finishing him off.

D. Near the end of the book, it says, Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of
man's heart, and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy. What do you think this
quote means? Think of Ralph's perspective, how did he change, what did he learn? Was he friends with
Piggy at the beginning?
Ralphs quote at the end means that with the death of Piggy the innocence on the island is lost forever, and
then Ralph describes the way Piggy met his untimely demise. No, Piggy was more of a scapegoat to turn the
groups attention away from the beastie.
