Pre-Instructional Activities:
Motivation: A facilitator will assess the students prior knowledge of photospheres and
introduce its various uses for recreational activities. They will be shown various
examples of works they can create with photosphere and how it can be utilized with
modern VR technology.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Students will be placed in groups of 2-3
(depending on how many of them have access to smart phones). They will work in
their classroom where a Wi-Fi access point will allow them to use the internet without
consuming data.
Assessment:
Pretest: No pretest will be administered.
Posttest: Students will install Google Cardboard Camera, create a photosphere on their
smartphones (preferably Android smartphone device, but alternate devices will be
sufficient), and upload it online where the instructor can access it and provide
feedback.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Students will have their own smartphone
devices (if not, they can work together in pairs with another student that has one).
Students will also have access to a Wi-Fi point to access the internet and upload it to a
designated website for the course.
Follow-Through Activities:
Memory Aid: Students will be given a written tutorial with brief details on the entire
process.
Transfer: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to take photospheres
independently and upload them online. They will use their smartphones to take creative
photospheres and demonstrate their understanding of the proper methods in taking
photospheres in unique locations. They will upload these photospheres online and
share them on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and/or Pinterest.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Taking new photospheres and uploading the
photospheres on social media must be done on a self-guided basis. This skill can be
accomplished in any location where they may have access to internet/Wi-Fi.
Examples: Facilitator will show a movie/ppt displaying each step with an explanation
per each step. Students will follow along with their Android smartphones.
Student Groupings and Media Selections: Students will need an android smartphone
device with a stable internet connection for this task. Therefore, a one to one ratio with
an android smartphone per student is required.
Student Participation:
Practice Items and Activities: Students will follow along with the teacher through the
PowerPoint/video presentation. They will log on to their phones, press the install
button, and download the app on their devices based on the instructions given.
Feedback: If the students successfully installed the app on their phone, they will be
able to open the app and begin the setup process. The facilitator will be in the room
while the students show their progress on the phone for feedback. They will show the
instructor that they have the app installed on their phone.

Practice Items and Activities: Students will follow along with the teacher through the
PowerPoint/video presentation. They will continue to press the next button by
following the instructions after opening the Google Cardboard Camera app. They will
continue to follow the instruction and press until they are able to access the Google
Cardboard Camera UI.
Feedback: If the students were successful with the setup process, they will be able to
interact with the apps main UI where they can manipulate the settings and take
photospheres. The facilitator will be in the room while the students show their progress
on the phone for feedback. They will show the instructor that they can access the
Google Cardboard Camera UI after the setup process on their phones.

Practice Items and Activities: Students will follow along with the teacher through the
PowerPoint/video presentation. They will practice taking photospheres by following
along the proper gestures and steps. They will take photospheres in the classroom as
practice. They will accomplish this either independently or in pairs by standing up,
pressing the camera button, holding it steady horizontally, and rotate 360 degrees.
Feedback: If students were successful in taking a photosphere, they will show their
photosphere example to the instructor for feedback within the classroom.

Practice Items and Activities: Students will follow along with the teacher through the
PowerPoint/video presentation. They will upload a photosphere to a designated in-class
email/Twitter/Pinterest account through the apps UI. They will accomplish this by
pressing the your photos button, picking the one they want to share, and select the
source they want to upload it to (i.e. Twitter, email, and etc.)
Feedback: If the students successfully uploaded their photosphere online, they will be
able to see their sample photospheres online through accessing the classs
email/Twitter/Pinterest account. The site/source will have the students samples
presented on the page. This will be accomplished together in-class.

Practice Items and Activities: Students will follow along with the teacher through the
PowerPoint/video presentation. After taking a number of practice/sample photospheres,
they will practice deleting them from their phone. They will select the photosphere
from their collection in their your photos section and press the delete button (trash
can icon).
Feedback: If the students successfully deleted their unwanted photospheres, they will
be able to show that they have removed the photospheres from their collection. The
teacher will be present in the room to check and see if they successfully removed the
photosphere from their phone/collection.
