Analysis of Badminton-playing Robot

In this project we propose to analyze an indigenously developed Badminton playing robot for ABU Robocon15 an
Asian Oceanian College robot competition. With its entire payload, it weighs around 25kgs, with overall dimensions of
1mx1mx1.5m. It has a double-pneumatic, compressed air based hitting mechanism. The robot is 4-wheel differential
drive system with spring based suspensions, with 2 under-arm hitting mechanism and 1 over-arm hitting mechanism.

We will primarily focus on the following mechanical design aspects:

Springs (Suspensions): decide spring parameters, fatigue life analysis.

Chassis: study of static loading on the chassis
Welding: replacement of various non-permanent joints in chassis with welding for reduction in weight and material
required.
Hitting mechanism: exploit the stresses developed on various critical elements of both hitting mechanism
Bearings: thrust force determination and fatigue life.
Analysis of stress concentration
Nut bolts
