GENERAL RULES:

The decision of the event managers stands final, in case of any conflict
regarding the rules and judgments.
A maximum of two teams from a particular department are allowed to go
through the finals of an event. This rule applies to all the English literary
events.
Use of any unfair means, including the use of electronic devices or
plagiarism, will lead to disqualification.
All time deadlines for submission will be in accordance with-

Requests for change of teammates in the finals will not be entertained.
The team can go either handicapped or the teammate can join in later.
The decision by the event managers with respect to the correction process
is final and binding.
The department coordinators are requested to ensure that the number of
teams from his/her department does not exceed the stipulated number of
teams. If the same is found to be violated once the prelims commences,
the contingent for that particular event stand to be disqualified.
The point of contact will always be the department coordinators.
1) NITTFEST MAIN QUIZ (8-5-3)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A general themed quiz that tests the participants all round knowledge.
The right to interpretation of the theme rests only with the quiz master
and the event managers alone.
Standard quiz rules apply.
6-8 teams will be selected for finals.

REGISTRATION:
Done on the spot.
Any number of teams per department.
Three members per team.

PRELIMS:
Written.

Top 6 to 8 teams with highest scores go through the finals.

2) MELAS QUIZ (6-3.5-2.5)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A themed quiz with every question based on the theme.
The theme of the quiz is Music, Entertainment, Literature, Art
and Sports.

The right to interpretation of the theme rests only with the quiz master
and the event managers alone.

Standard quiz rules apply.


6-8 teams in the finals.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Any number of teams per department.

Three members per team.

PRELIMS:
Written prelims.

Top 6 to 8 teams with highest scores go through the finals.

3) LONE WOLF QUIZ (5-3-2)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An individual participation quiz which is general in theme.
The right to interpretation of the theme rests only with the quiz master
and the event managers alone.

Written prelims.
Standard quiz rules apply.
6 to 8 individuals in the finals.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Any number of participants per department.

Individual participation event.

PRELIMS:
Written prelims.

Top 6 to 8 individuals with highest scores go through the finals.

4) BUZZER QUIZ (6-3.5-2.5)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A general themed quiz with emphasis on time.

The right to interpretation of the theme rests only with the quiz master
and the event managers alone.
REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Any number of participants per department.

Three members per team.

PRELIMS:
Written prelims against the clock. Time limit will be provided to the
participants.

The maximum time allotted will be specified during the prelims.

Time remaining once the participants finish will be recorded and


extra points will be added to their respective scores in the prelims.

Top 6 to 8 teams with highest scores go through the finals.

5) JAM (JUST A MINUTE)(3-2-1)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A speaking event where participants are required to speak fluently and


without mistakes.

Standard JAM rules apply.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Any number of participants per department.

Individual event.
PRELIMS:

Participants are short listed for the finals through a series of preliminary
rounds.

The number and types of rounds are solely at the discretion of the
moderator and event managers alone.

6-8 participants will be chosen for the finals.

FINALS:

The format and rules will be announced during the event.

6) DEBATE (6-4-1.5-1.5)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A speaking event that focuses on the participants ability to make


and express, clear and thoughtful arguments
Three members per team.
Each department can send in maximum of 2 teams.
After the preliminary round, 4 teams will qualify to the semi-finals.
Winners of the 2 semi-finals will qualify to the finals.
The losing teams will split points for the third position.
The judges decision will be final and binding.
PRELIMS:

Motions for the prelims will be given to the department coordinators


one day before the event.
The team is expected to choose a motion from the list provided to
the department coordinators and prepare.
Two members would be required to speak on behalf of the proposition
and the other speaker on behalf of the opposition.
The order of speakers will be Proposition, Opposition and Proposition.
Duration of the speeches will be intimated along with the topics
before the event.

SEMI-FINALS and FINALS:


The entire team will speak on behalf of either of the two houses.
Post the preliminary rounds, the motion for the semi-finals and finals will
be provided and then the houses will be allocated.

Duration of the speeches for the motions will be announced after


the prelims.
7) CROSSWORD(5-3-2)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Solving cryptic crosswords.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Any number of teams per department.

Two members per team.

PRELIMS:
Maximum time allotted will be specified during the prelims.

The first 6-8 teams with the highest scores will go into the finals.

FINALS:
The format and rules for finals will be announced on the spot.

8) PUZZLE CHAMP(6-3.5-2.5)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Teams are expected to solve a range of puzzle, word games, and brain teasers.
The right to interpretation of the theme (puzzle, word games, and brain
teasers) rests with the event managers alone.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

3 members per team.

Any number of teams per department.

PRELIMS:
Prelims will be a written round.

Maximum time allotted will be specified on the spot.

The top 6-8 teams with highest scores go to the finals.

FINALS:
Rules will be announced on the spot.

9) WHAT'S THE GOOD WORD(5-3-2)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A collection of word games and puzzles.

The right to interpretation of the words word games and puzzles rests only
with the event manager.
REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

2 members per team.


Any number of teams per department.

PRELIMS:
Written prelims.

Maximum time allotted will be specified on the spot.

The first 6-8 teams with highest scores go to the finals.

FINALS:
Rules will be announced on the spot.

10) SCRABBLE(5-3-2)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Classic game of Scrabble with written prelims.

The dictionary used for Scrabble will be CSW 15.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

2 members per team.

A maximum of 8 teams per department.


PRELIMS:
Written.

Maximum time allotted will be specified on the spot.

First 6-8 teams with highest scores will go through the finals.

SEMIFINALS AND FINALS:

Scrabble tournament rules will be informed at the venue.

11) SPELLING BEE(3-2-1)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An event where the spelling skills of the participants are tested.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Individual event.

A maximum of 10 members per department are allowed to participate in the


prelims.

The number and types of words in the prelims and finals are at the discretion of
the event managers alone.

PRELIMS:
Written round.
The first 6 or 8 members with highest scores will go through the finals.

FINALS:
Format and rules will be announced on the spot.

12) PICTIONARY(6-3.5-2.5)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A guessing game in which players attempt to identify words from pictures
drawn by other players.

REGISTRATIONS:
3 members per team.

Any number of teams per department.

PRELIMS:

Standard Pictionary rules apply. Any deviations will be mentioned during the
event.

Split prelims. 2 members are supposed to guess what the third person draws and
vice versa.

The first 6-8 teams from prelims will go through the finals.

FINALS:
Rules will be announced on the spot.
13) POTPOURRI (8-5-3)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
A mixed bag of events.

The number and the types of events are at the discretion of the event
managers alone.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot
Only 2 teams per department are allowed per department.
5 members per team.

PRELIMS:
Split prelims. Scores will be added up.

The first 6 or 8 teams with highest scores are allowed to go through the finals.

FINALS:
Format and rules for the finals will be announced on the spot.

14) DUMB C (6-3.5-2.5)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
An event of miming and guessing.

REGISTRATION:
On the spot.

Three members per team.

Only 3 teams per department are allowed to register.

PRELIMS:

Standard dumb-c rules and deviations will be informed during the event.

The topics would be announced on the spot.

The first 6-8 teams with highest scores go into the finals.

FINALS:
Format and rules for the finals will be announced on the spot.

15) EVENT-X (6-3.5-2.5)


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Mystery rounds.

One round will be conducted every day during NITTFEST.

No finals.

The tasks in each round are at the discretion of the event managers alone.
The scores of each round will be added up and will be used to decide the top
three winners.

REGISTRATION:
The department coordinators will be the point of contact for this event. Each
round will be unique and the participation is at the discretion of the
department coordinators.

16) MYSTERY QUIZ (5-3-2)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A single round, written, themed quiz with every question based on the
theme.

The theme of the quiz shall be revealed on the day of the quiz.

The right to interpretation of the theme rests with the quiz master and the
event managers alone

REGISTRATION:

On the spot.
Maximum of two teams per department.
Two members per team.
