Whether its joining with music makers to ensure their creative rights are protected,
providing ongoing professional development services to the recording community,
or honoring the best music of the year through the internationally recognized
GRAMMY Awards, The Recording Academy has become the recording industrys
primary organization for professional and educational outreach, human services, arts
advocacy, and cultural enrichment.
The Academy represents members from all corners of the professional music world
from the biggest recording stars to unsung music educators all brought together under
the banner of building a better creative environment for music and its makers. Nowhere
is this more symbolically represented than in the GRAMMY Award, a true peer honor
that recognizes excellence in the recording field and the premier music award worldwide.
AND MUSICARES
A portion of the proceeds from the 2016 GRAMMY Nominees album will benefit
MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation, two charitable organizations established by
The Recording Academy that help sustain music and its makers past, present and
future as a force in all of our lives.
MusiCares provides emergency health and human services and addiction recovery
resources to music people in times of need. The GRAMMY Foundation offers young
people opportunities to explore careers in the music industry, leads efforts to preserve
our musical legacy, and advances the understanding of music's role in our culture.

Current full-time educators in the United States who teach music in public or private
schools, kindergarten through college, are eligible for the honor, which is presented during
GRAMMY Week and acknowledged on the GRAMMY Awards telecast.
It's time to say thank you to all of the teachers who inspire and encourage us to be the
best we can be.
GRAMMY HALL OF FAME
Since approximately the beginning of the 20th century, a vast body of music has been created
and produced through the recording process. In all its forms, genres and styles, made by
thousands of artists and other contributors, many of whom were influenced by those who came
before them, these recordings have made our world far richer. This wealth of music is reflected
in the more than 1,000 classic recordings enshrined in the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame.
Each year, roughly 25 recordings, exhibiting lasting qualitative or historical significance and
released at least 25 years ago, are added to the Hall.
Selected by experts and historians and ratified by the Trustees of The Recording Academy,
recordings inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame reveal the expansive breadth and inspiring
creative brilliance of 20th century music and the unique artists who blazed new musical trails.
With these recordings, you can literally hear the development and evolution of rock, R&B, blues,
American roots, country, and other forms of music that enriched our culture and, often, changed
the world. From Abbey Road to Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame forms the
definitive playlist of music history.
The GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live is the physical home of the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame, where
visitors can explore every inducted recording.
