What we are learning: 12/16 Pajama Day

12/19- 1/2 Winter Break

In Reading we are comparing and contrasting details from a story and will begin to use this skill to
compare two dierent versions of the same fable or folktale. We have also been learning about cause
and eect. In grammar we have been learning about the spelling rules of plural nouns and have been
learning about past, present, and future tense verbs. In writing we are strengthening our skills as
authors and have been writing How Tos with a focus on a strong topic sentence, using transitional
words to tell the sequence of steps, and a closing statement. In Math we have been working on 2 and 3
digit addition. I know some of our strategies may seem confusing or frustrating and is not the way we
learned, but it is apart of Common Core and I just remind the students that theses are all just dierent
ways of adding numbers together. In Science we have been learning about pollination and seed
dispersal in preparation to help us build a device to spread seeds over a large plot of land. In Social
Studies we have been learning about celebrations around the world.
