Introduction

The first affordable price of current electricity energy provide to households is

harness by Thomas Edison. After inventing the light bulb, Edison engineered the first
electric station, the Pearl St. Plant in New York City, to supply the electricity for his
inventions. He provided electricity through direct current (DC), which means that the
voltage did not come in cycles (AC) but instead directly as 110 volts, using large
dynamo generators. However, the problem with DC current was that it could not be
transmitted over long distances. The resistance of the wire produces a voltage drop
whose magnitude increases with the length of the wire. Fortunately, this issue was
resolved when Nikolas Tesla patented a system for creating alternating current, which
produced voltage in cycles (AC) in 1887.
After AC supply is invented, Harvey Hubbell designed a "Separable Attachment Plug"
that connected directly into a light socket as an outlet energy for electric applications.
After years of innovations made by scientists, third ground prong to the plug to be
inserted into a third hole in the socket in order to reduce electrical shock as a result of
a short circuit was approved by Philip F. Labre in 1928.
Robin Hartman,2008
Unfortunately, there have been no agreed upon international standards for the shape of
an electrical outlet or its operating voltage and frequency until now. Therefore, there
are differences size and design of power sockets used in differences countries to
support differences voltages.

Although the advanced improvement had done by Philip F. Labre, the accidents of
electric shock are often happening in worldwide. Especially in Malaysia, the accident
rate of electric shock is increasing yearly. Most of the accidents happened with the
reasons of lack of child safety towards electric sockets. To ensure the safety of young
children it is of considerable importance that the contacts of the socket-outlet should
be protected by shutters or other like means, or by the inherent design of the socket
outlet.

Problem Statements

Pop-out socket is invented in 2013 at United State to improve the safety of power
socket. However, there have been no agreed upon international standards for the
shape of an electrical outlet. Therefore, there are no Malaysia standard of electrical
outlet with the pop-out sockets. Hence, the aim of this current study is to design a new
pop-out socket (E-Socket) with Malaysia standard electrical outlet.

Objectives
1. To design E-Socket with Malaysia standard electrical outlet.
2. To measure the percentage of possibility of children physical contract toward
electrical outlet from E-Socket.
Literature Review
Malaysia Standard electrical outlet
Different countries use different types of voltage. Electrical sockets (outlets) in
Malaysia are the "Type G " British BS-1363 type. Electrical sockets (outlets) in
Malaysia usually supply electricity at between 220 and 240 volts AC.
There are standards, and there is a plug that has been designed, the International
Electrotechnical Commissions Gabriela Ehrlich explained to Gizmodo in 2009. The
problem is, really, everyones invested in their own system. Its difficult to get away
from that.
Pop-out socket used United State Standard which are type A and type B. Type A and
type B are not suitable for Malaysia standard electrical applications. Therefore, E-
Socket invented to solve the problem.

Possibility
Possibility is the chance that something may happen or be true. The possibility in
this research is to refer the chances of children did a physical contract toward
electrical outlet of E-Socket.

Percentage
Percentage is a part of a whole expressed in hundredths. The percentage in this
research is refer the possibility of the chances of children did a physical contract
toward electrical outlet of E-Socket.

children physical contract toward electrical outlet

According to Kathryn Ingham , 2016 electric shock accidents often happen with the
reason of lack of child safety. The engineers who defined the requirements of the
Malaysia mains socket we all use today were quite specific about the need for child
safety. They stated, as the very first requirement of the new socket, that, To ensure
the safety of young children it is of considerable importance that the contacts of the
socket-outlet should be protected by shutters or other like means, or by the inherent
design of the socket outlet.
