Art Scholarship Presentation

The presentation of the art scholarship at the
May meeting was a great success.
Sierra Keys and her family along with members
of Wilma McConnell’s family attended.
As a part of the presentation Annette Stark
shared information about Sierra’s qualifications for
the award and the reasons it was named for Wilma
McConnell. Beverly Cratty also spoke on the award
and about the chapter’s aim and intent; to further Sierra participates in a special project at Bel Air High

Wilma McConnell’s son spoke about his mother
and her love of painting, noting that she kept on
painting all through her illness. He said she would
be delighted to know this award bears her name.
Sierra brought along a selection of her art
works so that members of the chapter could see
what she has accomplished. Her creativity and abili-
ties were seen on the decoratively painted skirt she
wore to the meeting.
Guests were invited to share refreshments and
to chat with members. I think all the members in
attendance were pleased with the choice of recipient
and hope to hear of her future success.
