Where to Find Books and Supplies

Either the economy or the internet, or both, seem to have had an adverse effect on local arts and crafts stores. We
can no longer find painting books and art supplies are limited. Scrapbooking seems to be the prime craft now and stores
favor this over painting.
We painters must then look to the internet to satisfy our needs. There are numerous sites devoted to our needs, with
supplies, packets, books, and instruction. One can go to the site, view items for sale, make a shopping list, order a catalog,
shop on the site, or get the phone number or address and place an order over the phone or by snail mail.
Robin Benjes has several favorite websites she visits and is sharing them with us this issue. If you have a favorite site
we hope you will share it with us in a future issue
More and more of our favorite ―Big Brushes‖ are now only available on line. One used to be able to go to stores and
look through all of the new books and pattern packets. Now you must learn to browse the internet to find your favorite
authors. I thought that I would take this opportunity to share a few of my favorite sites with you.
I found an interesting site, www.brushesandmore.com. What makes this site interesting is the availability of instructional
videos. They have a video that shows you each of the specialty brushes that they carry. Even if you have no interest in
purchasing from them, you can have an upfront look at a teacher using brushes you may have never seen in action. When
you get to the site, click on ―About Us and Our Products‖ to access these videos.
www.creativelifestyle.com, is a site run by Patricia Rawlinson. You can actually sign up on her site and you will receive
weekly e-mails. The subject of the e-mails is in regards to new products and projects. She has a function called ―Tole TV‖
where she will demonstrate new products. She also carries every single color of DecoArt paint. If you are having trouble
finding any colors, she guarantees that she will have it on her site.
www.dellaandcompany.com, is a site run by Della Wetterman. You can purchase all of Della’s tin ware on this site. Also,
all of Rosemary West’s pattern packets are for sale on this site. Della also has an e-newsletter that you can sign up to re-
ceive. During the convention she sent out daily pictures of the activities of the convention. It made you feel like you were
a part of the convention even if you weren’t able to attend.
www.countryprimitives.net, is a site run by Maxine Thomas. All of her new pattern packets can be found on this site.
There is nothing special about the site, she just happens to be one of my favorite teachers.
This was just a small sampling of what is available to decorative painters on the internet. Try and Google your favorite
―Big Brush‖. You may be surprised at all of the information you have at your finger tips.
Happy Painting, Robin
