Suppose you have just noticed using a PERT technique that the project will exceed the time

allotted for the contract and that you may suffer contractual penalties as a result. How would you

approach crashing activities in the project to get the project back on schedule?

SOLUTION:

If there is a delay in any of the activities under the critical path, there will be a delay of the

project deliverables. If it is a critical activity so that I would need to bring new extra resources to

accelerate the procedures by approaching crashing activities and estimating alternatives to

discover which one will support in compressing the period through most reduced cost. So it will

not interrupt the next step in the process or the completion date of the project. On the other hand,

if there is a delay due to part of the project that other steps of the project are relying on there is

no need to worry about that as much as a critical activity, but we still need to maintain a

strategic distance from contractual penalties and to bring the task on timetable.
