RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Collaborated with TRIO counselors and completion coaches as they met with 350 TRIO students in
advising sessions a term
o Fostered trust with students through regular and continued contact (contact with 50+
students each day), and was eventually able to lead advising sessions under the
guidance of the TRIO/Project Finish Line completion coach
o Was familiarized with intrusive advising and the relatively new practice of completion
coaching
o Was trained through role playing and observation
Assessment
o Conducted two focus groups with deliverables of formal write-ups, which informed the
practice of the TRIO team
o Audited 350 pre- and post-assessments TRIO students complete in order to analyze
trends of the students experiences and developing competencies
Worked closely with staff to initiate and coordinate unique programs and events focused on the
LGBTQ community on campus
Presented programs related to the lives and experiences of people at the intersection of sexual
orientation, gender, race/ethnicity, and other social identities
Worked extensively on outreach to student clubs/organizations to support and assist in
coordination of student organization and programming
Worked with campus partners and Pride Center staff to program social events and leadership
opportunities, including the Prism Peer Counseling Program (see below), Pride Prom, and
Lavender Graduation
Counseled students dealing with stress, family, sexual orientation/identity/coming out issues,
roommate issues, anything and everything

Helped lead (with a co-leader) a group of 15-25 incoming freshmen for five days (8am 2am each
day) as they learned about the transition to college and various issues college-based issues I
Fostered a positive transition to campus life for new students by creating an atmosphere in which
students can get to know each other and feel comfortable interacting with each other
Led fun activities such as kayaking, hiking, and rock-climbing
Served as a positive initial role model for incoming new students
OTHER EXPERIENCE
Taught a wide variety of safety, CPR, and disaster preparedness classes to youth of all ages and
other vulnerable populations (2-3 times a week)
Mentored and supervised the chapters 200+ youth volunteers
Promoted Red Cross volunteering opportunities at local schools and colleges
Assisted with new volunteer recruitment and training (approx. 10 new volunteers a month)
Participated in community outreach and public relations initiatives
Was deployed to assist at local and national disasters (local disaster deployment 1-2 times a week,
3 national deployments during my term of service)
