INTRODUCTION
In this latest set of Sathya Sai Babas 45 essays, He

speaks in detail about the Truth that will set you
free as well as the nature of enlightenment, with-
out the embellishment of Hindu scriptures. He says
that this series of books through channel Catherine
Kapahi, contain the essence of that which He wish-
es His devotees to know and practice.
Baba describes many Laws of the universe and how
to live in harmony with them as enlightened ones
do. He describes what actually leaves the physical
body at the time of death; Atma and its relation
to Energy; and how the soul is transmutted into
Spirit. Sai Baba speaks about how He often moves
about the earth visiting devotees, and the impor-
tance and ways of meditation. At the end of this
series of talks, He reveals that He will be incarnat-
ing into a new body called Prema Sai Baba in late
2013 in south India. And there is much more in this
latest book to enrich the reader in the ways of God
realization.
I hope you will benefit from the Teachings and have

grand success in removing the ego-sense from the

My Dear devotees, here we are together again as I

deliver to you more ancient yet ever new Divine
nectarine words about the nature of Truth. Though you
may have heard similar Teachings in the past, you will
not be disappointed to hear them again through My very
dear devotee Catherine who has dedicated her life to Me
and the uplift of My devotees scattered throughout the
world. Those of you who have been reading this series of
channeled books know without a doubt that I am not
gone; I am very much alive as I have always been. The
form of God known as the Sathya Sai Baba Avatara is
immediately available to all who would call on Me with
Love, Devotion and need. Call on any name of God and I
am aware of your call because I am all names and forms
of God forever. I am that Essence of Godhood that hears
your prayers and responds accordingly.
You may be wondering why I channel My Words through

a single individual named Catherine. I had told you that I
have no need of any medium, that I come directly to My
devotees. I will tell you. Though I am able to come
directly to all My devotees, it is easier for Me now that I
am no longer walking among you daily, speaking to you
all from time to time as I used to through timely
Discourses, to use a capable, pure instrument through
whom I can still speak to the many devotees who would
read these My Words spoken after My Mahasamadhi.
Most of My devotees are not clairaudient because they
have not taken the time to develop and perfect this

faculty. There are many things I wished to tell My

devotees after I discarded my physical body, for their
consolation and uplift. I wished to continue to speak to
My devotees, to reassure them that I am still very much
available to them; that I am still helping and guiding
them; that I am one with them from My perspective;
that I will never leave them. I used to tell many of these
things to My devotees in interviews. Now there are no
interviews, only in dreams, and to those who can hear
Me will there be interviews. To make up for this lack and
loss for My devotees, I am using Catherine as My
instrument to convey all that I wish to tell My devotees.
Of course, My Teachings are available in the
compilations of the many discourses I spoke over many
decades. The difference now is that I am concentrating
on some specific topics to move sincere devotees along
the Path to Liberation more swiftly. I am concentrating
on the essentials without the embellishments of the
Hindu scriptures I used previously. I wish these, My
Teachings, to reach all seekers of Truth from East to
West, no matter what religion they follow. I am speaking
the Essence of spiritual Truths that are found in all
religions, to help speed all aspirants along the Path to
spiritual Liberation. If you follow My Teachings put forth
in this series of books through Catherine, you will
definitely receive the Grace of this Avatar, and waste no
time or effort to gain your goal of Self realization and
Liberation.

This series of My Talks will be about the nature of the

Truth that will set you free. You may have heard that
Truth is formless, attributeless, and that It cannot be
known in the usual sense. That Truth is not objective; it
is subjective. And that you are that Truth, that Atma that
knows no decline or change. Though everything in the
objective world is changing, the Atma does not change.
Why to seek this Atma known as the Self? Is not the
objective world more interesting, enticing, full of novelty
and richness? To many the answer is yes. They are
unable to pull their senses and mind away from this
world so full of scope for adventure, mystery, and
experience. After countless births on planet earth, there
comes a time when the soul has had enough of all the
variety of sense pleasures and enjoyments, and also
wishes for escape from suffering, physical, mental and
emotional. But where to go to escape and find unending
Peace and contentment? The only place is within oneself
in the spiritual heart. There is no use to wait until after
the demise of the physical body, hoping to at last find
Peace and contentment in a 'heaven'. You take your
mind and awareness that you have cultivated while on
earth, with you when you depart the physical body. You
take your vasanas (cultivated tendencies), your
vibrational level, the results (merit and demerit) of your
actions, words, and thoughts, with you when you depart
from the earth. It behooves you to know these things,
and to make the best possible preparations while here
on earth to ensure the best possible afterlife.

Not all of My devotees will be liberated during this

present sojourn in a physical body. Many of My devotees
will join Me in My next Advent as Prema Sai Baba, to be
with Me in a physical body on earth. Rather than choose
not to return to earth, many have opted to return to be
part of My spiritual Mission even though there was no
other need for them to return. For many others the next
birth will be their last birth on planet earth. Many
devotees will greatly benefit from their proximity to
Prema Sai Baba and gain Liberation. It is this second
category to whom I wish to speak. What you do now will
determine your relationship with Prema Sai Baba. Your
spiritual practices, your purification of mind, emotions,
soul, will to a large extent, determine the conditions of
your next birth. By this I mean that if you make a great
deal of spiritual progress now in this birth, you are pretty
much guaranteed liberation in your next birth, if you
keep close contact with the Prema Sai Avatara.
This should come as good news for most of you, My
Devotees. You are certain to know and become the
Atma, and experience the oneness and peace of
Liberation in this and your next incarnations. How
blessed you are. However, you must keep a close contact
in the heart with Me, the Self, at all times, and practice
all My Teachings all the time as long as you have breath.
And the Essence of My Teachings are laid out for you in
this series of channeled books.

Up until now most of you believed I was an incarnation

of God that would some day or the other disappear into
the formless never to be seen again. Not true. I am able
to manifest Myself whenever and where ever I wish, and
have been doing so since I departed the physical body in
2011. I have been appearing often in my etheric body
which looks like My physical body, only much lighter and
more translucent in appearance. You may have heard
that ether is the finest of the five great elements,
created first from Atma. Though I am formless as Atma
or Brahman, I very often assume an etheric form and
move about in the universe at the speed of thought. In
an instant I am where I wish to be in My etheric form. I
have appeared many times on auspicious occasions, in
the presence of Catherine, to let her know that I am
supporting and guiding her during the important steps or
new beginnings in her life. For example, when she began
the Ministry Program at an interfaith church in Canada
recently, as I had guided her to do, I showed up there
and was seen by clairvoyant ministers, hovering in the
air in lotus posture, smiling at Catherine. I am in many
places in this way, but few can see Me because few have
developed the ability to see the etheric body. I
frequently visit devotees homes in My etheric body, sit
in My chair they have provided for Me, and bless them in
other ways. Some devotees feel Me around them as a
tickling or subtle movement at their arm or around the
head. So, you may become aware of My Presence with
you in this way and acknowledge that I am with you.

However, though these encounters are pleasing and

delightful, they are not the goal to be sought. As always,
the goal is to realize that you are Atma, and everything
has sprung forth from Atma according to the Will of the
Divine. When you know this experientially, you know the
most important aspect of Divinity.
But how to know? Not by reading books and reciting

scriptures. These are for the mind, though these
exercises help to purify the being and give knowledge.
Without the Grace of the Satguru it is difficult to know
the Atma. What do I mean? Going it alone without a
Satguru Who is the embodiment of Truth is a more
difficult path indeed. It is more difficult to have
persistent, pure, abundant love for the formless God
than for the form of God, the Satguru. And it is love that
has to be developed, an all inclusive love. One starts by
adoring and giving all devotion and reverence to the
Satguru, having total faith and trust that He/She is the
embodiment of Truth. The Satguru responds by blessing
again and again the devotee with pure love, so that the
devotee feels very much loved by the Satguru. The
Satguru joins again and again the aspiring soul of the
devotee, encircling it with pure love, bliss and Light.
Soon the devotee, looking within the spiritual heart
begins to see Light, and to see that the body is also filled
with and surrounded by Light. Gradually the devotee is
able to hold more and more Light and Love due to her
purified mind, speech and actions, the silence that is
maintained, and the complete focus on the Satguru. The
Satguru has been the source of Light and Love for the

devotee. Now the devotee realizes that she is the Light

because her soul and mind have joined with the Love
and Light of the Satguru. She now sees that the Light and
Love that is the Essence of every soul is the one Light
and Love of God, Brahman.
My Dear Devotees, you know I am in your heart as Atma,

but few of you know where to go from here. You
meditate to try to contact Me, to know Me, but feel you
are not that successful. I know; I am aware of your
feelings in this regard. Many of you are not regular in
meditation, not committed to this practice, because you
do not believe you are achieving much or any success.
What is success in meditation and why do you believe
you are not achieving success? I will tell you.
First of all, there is really no one to achieve success in

meditation. When you lose your identity and merge in
the ocean of Atma in the spiritual heart, that is success.
But for whom? Not for the small individual self or ego.
You may say that it is a success for God because a small
portion of His Self which felt separate from the whole,
rejoined the whole again. But who is a witness to this?
From God's perspective He is always the totality of
Existence. Life as a separate person is a dream projected
by the ego mind.

So, is it possible to believe you are successful in your

meditation practice? Yes and no. When the experience
of total absorption or partial absorption happens even
for a few seconds, you may feel a sense of success and
accomplishment in meditation. But know that it is not
the ego that knows and rejoices, it is a part of the Higher
Mind that knows it is on the right track. These small
glimpses of the Atma, the Truth, motivate the seeker of
God to continue the meditation process. When the
devotee is completely sincere about reaching and
merging with God, Myself, I help by encircling that one in
My Light, My Presence. In this way the devotee has a
greater opportunity to experience Atma for longer
periods of time and thus become stabilized in the
meditation process.
It takes continuous daily practice to know Atma. Not only

that, the mind and emotions must be prepared for
successful meditation. If the mind is running here and
there disturbed, and the emotions are troubled, there is
little or no scope for knowing Atma. So, there is a long
preliminary stage to successful meditation whereby the
spiritual aspirant works on himself to purify the mental
and emotional bodies. Meditation is not going to come
that easily if the mind and emotions have not been
prepared. Much preparation is needed for the new
initiate. It may take years of preparation before the
mental and emotional bodies are cleared of major
conditioning and falsity. These two bodies also have to
be turned toward the Divine with pure love, devotion,
reverence, awe, gratitude and selfless service, sacrifice

and renunciation. So you can see there is much

preparation required to become again the Pure Divine
Atma you truly are. There is a backward journey in the
mind/consciousness away from the false material world
to which you had become attached, as well as away from
the erroneous idea that one is the physical body, the
sense, desire mind, and the separate self/personality. A
backward journey that allows for the conscious letting go
of attachment to all that is not Atma. Contemplation is
the process that is useful for this type of purification.
You constantly contemplate on what is Atma, and give
up attachment to what is fleeting and changing. This is
one of the basic processes one must enter into before
one gets concentration on the Satguru and then
absorption into Atma.
As I have said, meditation is not that easy to perfect and

maintain. Why? There is so much baggage, physical,
mental, and emotional, that one has accumulated over
hundreds and thousands of births. When a heavy cloth is
placed over a light bulb, little or no light shines through
the heavy cloth. It is up to the devotee to remove the
dross that has been accumulated in the mind/
consciousness, through concerted spiritual practices
over many lives. There comes a time when the aspirant
has such a level of purity as well as aspiration for
liberation in God, that a Satguru offers Himself to that

one to hasten the process. If the Satguru is accepted

with great devotion, respect, surrender and adoration
for God, the devotee/Satguru relationship may work
very well, and the devotee can reach great spiritual
heights through the Grace of the Satguru.
Though I do not insist on meditation practice for all

devotees, it is the royal road to Self realization. However,
not all devotees are able to meditate. Some need to do
much purification first, so I recommend selfless service
to society dedicating all actions to Me. Why? Many have
a more active, passionate nature called rajasic. They
need to be doing some activity. They are not ready to sit
for one hour, motionless, watching breath, sublimating
thoughts. I am not saying that meditation practice and
selfless service cannot both be practiced by a devotee.
They can and are. Selfless service helps one to rid himself
of the ego that he is the doer and enjoyer of actions. It
also helps to see the one God in all everywhere. Selfless
service to society is a way to love God in all beings, and
thus to develop and expand your love. Selfless service is
a great spiritual practice, and can go hand in hand with
sitting meditation.
For those who are dominant in the thamas guna, selfless

service is also recommended. As such ones may not
easily be able to discern between Truth and untruth,
entering into selfless service to society will help to purify
the mind and emotions of thamasic qualities.
It is really those of predominately sattwic nature who
will have success in meditation, getting absorbed into

Atma in the spiritual heart. They are calm, balanced,

pure, humble and desireless. The goal for all aspirants is
to purify and sublimate in order to become a
predominately sattwic personality. Like merges with like.
Become like God to merge with God.
I would like to tell you about an easy way to meditate on

God. Many of you have heard Me speak about this
before. It is to visualize a flame. Begin by placing a lit
candle or aarthi flame before you. Look at the flame and
then closing your eyes, bring the image of the flame into
your third eye between the eyebrows. Hold it there for
some time, as long as you can, say five minutes. Then
move the flame slowly throughout your entire body
three times with the intention that your body is being
purified and transmuted into Light. Then bring the flame
back into the third eye. You may move the flame into
each of the seven chakras with the intention to purify
them, burning away all dross. Then bring the flame back
to the third eye. Let it fill the whole head for awhile.
Move it outside around the body also, in the space of
about five feet all around the body. Then if you have
time sit with the Light, getting your mind and
consciousness absorbed in the Light. Remain like this for
some time. At the same time you are using the flame,
you may chant your mantra if necessary to help you
concentrate on the flame. This is an easy and effective

practice to get yourself stabilized in the Atma. To get the

full benefit, practice several times per day.
Now, onto another related topic. Do you know how dear

you all are to God? Very dear. You are the Atma, one
with Him. It is so and has always been so. All the
meditation techniques are to help you, the deluded one,
to recognize this. So always be positive about yourself;
love yourself dearly as I love you. You may ask how can I
love myself dearly when I have so many faults. Love the
faults too, seeing them as My energy that was used in a
wrong way due to ignorance. Do you hate your child for
not knowing many things and making mistakes? No, you
should not. In the same way God does not hate His
children for falling into ignorance and delusion. He has
compassion and understanding and kindness toward all.
You My Devotee also have kindness, gentleness,
understanding and compassion for yourself and others. I
see that many of you are too hard on yourselves,
expecting much from yourselves spiritually too soon, as
well as criticizing and condemning yourselves when a
gentler more loving approach would be more beneficial.
To become a more loving person, be loving to yourself.
Forgive yourself for the past errors, and for the karma
you had to undergo due to your past actions. Do not pity
yourself any longer. Past is past. Each day is a fresh
opportunity to love yourself, and praise yourself when
you are good and loving, kind and compassionate. Yes,
praise yourself. In this way your love will grow for Self.
This Self or Atma that you are, is My Self. You are
consciousness/energy, Shiva/Shakti, and that is Who I

Am. Renunciation and sacrifice are to be of the ego, ego

qualities, me and mine, doership and enjoyership by ego,
and name and form as Truth. By renouncing and
sacrificing these, you don't hate them. You see through
them, that they are not Truth. If you see that you are still
having them, do not hate yourself for this. Be gentle and
loving to yourself, telling yourself that you are
committed to the spiritual path, doing the best you can,
and that Truth or Atma is not realized that easily, that it
took seekers many lifetimes of rigorous practice in the
past. In this Kali Yuga, Self realization can come much
faster through getting immersed in the Name and Form
of God.
In summary, the more loving you are with your self, the
more loving you are with Me and others. I wanted to tell
you this because I see that many are very hard on
themselves and suffer from unhappiness due to this. At
the same time discernment and discipline are also
needed. One must search and find the balance that is
correct to lead one toward the goal of Self realization
and not fall into ego aggrandizement and too much self
indulgence.
When I decided to do these talks with Catherine, My

motivation was to soothe and allay the fears of My
Devotees, to make them calm, and remove their

negativity that had accumulated due to the demise of

My physical body. I see that those who are reading this
series of My Teachings, are benefitting a great deal from
them. It is My Wish that more would read these books
received through Catherine and benefit from them. They
contain the Essence of what I wish My Devotees to know
and practice, bereft of embellishments.
I wish to tell you more about the Atma and how to

attain It. Realization of Atma is an attainment that
results when you have worked hard at your spiritual
practice to remove what is not Atma. Though strictly
speaking you cannot attain what you already are;
namely, Atma.
So what exactly is Atma? It is consciousness, existence,

bliss. It is also energy. Though a distinction must be
made here. What distinction? The energy that makes up
forms such as the human body has come from Atma, is
not separate from Atma. You may say that it is maya
shakti because the forms change and disappear in time.
But maya shakti, or the energy comprising the human
body and all forms is Divine energy, that has come out of
Atma and is intrinsic to Atma. Many devotees are
confused about this idea of Shiva/Shakti, or
Consciousness/Awareness/Energy as related to Atma. So
I wish to clarify.

It is often stated that God or Atma is the Witness, the

Awareness, or Consciousness, and this is True. However,
it is not the complete Truth. Shiva or Consciousness
always has energy whether manifest or unmanifest as its
counterpart without which it would be impotent and
unable to create anything. As a manifest being, a human
being is composed of Consciousness and Energy
together. There could never be a creation without these
two working together. Also, it is the combination of
Shiva and Shakti that gives rise to Bliss or Ananda. Shiva
or Consciousness alone by Himself, is deeply peaceful,
One and content. When He moves into action with
Shakti/Energy, as Nataraja, the Bliss flows forth. Many
do not understand this, that it is the Dance of Shiva-
Shakti that gives rise to the greatest Bliss. God loves to
create and to interact with His creation in all the varied
modes. It is fun. It is both a play and a dream for those
involved. It is all a great play of Awareness/
Consciousness and Divine Energy meant to give rise to
Love and Bliss for all. Unfortunately many are deluded
and suffer mentally, emotionally and physically due to
deviation from God's original Plan that souls derive Love
and Bliss and return to Oneness.
My Dear devotees, I am delivering these talks to you

because I love you and I wish you to succeed in this, your
chosen path to merge with Me, Paramatma. And you

will succeed; it is guaranteed; it is just a matter of time,

and time has been given for you for this purpose, to
realize Our Oneness. How lucky you are to have found a
Satguru who is the Lord of the Universe, all Gods rolled
into One. It is your good fortune, your good Karma that
has led you to Me. Make the best use of Me. I am the
storehouse of all Grace and am ready to shower it on
you, the deserving devotee, the ardent seeker of Truth.
Stay in union with Me, in devotion to Me and you will
come to know yourself as Truth before long.
You see yourself as separate from Me because you are

not yet convinced of your true nature as Atma. It is good
and necessary to keep on affirming, I am God; I am
Atma; I am Truth; I am Peace; I am Love; I am Bliss; and
so on. When you are too much into ego sense of a
separate individual, and feeling you are the physical
form, personality, etc., it is necessary to stop for five or
ten minutes, close your eyes and focus inwardly; feeling
that you are Existence, you exist as Pure Being; you are
Awareness, you have Awareness and Consciousness and
that you see the body is full of energy. Seeing this,
affirm you are the embodiment of Shiva and Shakti; you
are a Divine Being; you are formless Existence,
Awareness, Energy. You are not the temporary physical
form with a name and a history. Use your
buddhi/intellect to keep on discerning that you are Atma
that has descended into matter. Constantly affirm that
you, as Atma, are free and non-attached to matter, the
changing physical forms, that come and go. But here it
becomes tricky; even though the forms come on the

stage of earth life and dissolve and disappear, the forms

contain Atma and energy Shiva-Shakti. The substance
of the forms is Divine. So, in your awareness/
consciousness/mind, discern this truth and be aware of it
at all times. Every encounter with a living being, an
animal, a plant, a tree, a stone is an encounter with God,
the Atma/Shakti. Recognition of this will allow you to
see God everywhere and to be kind, caring and
respectful to all of life everywhere. I see so many human
beings who are not aware of God in and as themselves,
who treat themselves and others with distain and
disrespect and worse. So, I ask you, My devotees, to
constantly discern and affirm that you are God; You are
Atma having taken an energy body. Then go within
often; see with the Eye of Shiva, the awareness centered
at the Ajna Chakra, that you are indeed Pure Existence,
Awareness, Bliss in manifestation in an energy body and
so are all others.
As you are well aware, I always have your best interests

in mind; to uplift, teach, and guide you to the goal of
Self-realization and liberation from rebirth and from all
that binds you. Many of you will become spiritual
masters who will teach about a Advaita (Oneness) and
the ways to reach this state. This Sai lineage will go on
forever creating many Masters who will go on to higher
and higher levels of spiritual Ascension and expansion.

You are each one a sparkling diamond in His tiara who

will influence and transform many along the Path that
you travel. So be pure and transparent that you may
attract many to you with your Light, and thus turn their
minds to the Self that they may have what you have and
more. Always be kind, giving and selfless/egoless, so
that your divinity will be recognized and acknowledged
by those who benefit greatly by having met and
interacted with you on the earthly plane. Your destiny is
to help ignite the flame of the Atma in others who are
lost to their true Self. I wish to help you to do this well. I
have said that, Your life is My Message. I am and will
work through you to achieve much in your lifetime, if
you agree to work along with Me and be My
Instruments. Thus, you will gain a fraction of Me and
know Self.
Now, the Atma. It has to be experienced to be known.

There is no other way. How can the ego Self, the
imposter, experience the Atma? It is not possible. So
very often, I give devotees experiences of Atma in
dreams and visions so they will have a taste of what they
are seeking. In a dream, I will set up an experience
whereby the subtle body of the dreamer is taking My
padnamaskar, and then merges with Me in Atma. The
dreamer will immediately wake up feeling the love and
bliss of Atma that he experienced in the subtle dream
state. The experience is so loving, beautiful and
unforgettable that the devotee wishes to have it again.
This longing and yearning for immersion in Atmic love
and bliss acts as a stimulus for the devotee to pursue

spiritual practice with renewed vigor and devotion to

Me, the Satguru/God.
Sometimes I look penetratingly into the eyes of a

devotee and encircle their soul in My Being. They
experience the Oneness of Atma with Me. They feel My
Love for them and are inspired to seek the Atmic state of
Love and Bliss permanently. Gradually, devotees purify
themselves of all negativity and conditioning so they are
able to merge with Me in the Atmic State at will and
receive My Pure Energy, Wisdom and other Blessings.
My Heart is always open and full of Grace. Devotees
need to cultivate a nearness to Me to receive; and, also
to have removed the obstacles to receiving. It is best to
be peaceful, silent, open, with longing and devotion to
merge with Me; to be filled with My Grace and Presence;
then to go out into the world and share it with others.
The more you give it away, the more will come to you.
There is an inexhaustible supply of Love and Light in this
universe waiting to be used to uplift the world.

My Dear Devotee, sometimes it is necessary to give

some devotees many experiences of Atma. Why? Their
destiny is such that they must move quickly along the
Path to Realization. It is not that I favor some devotees
over others, so do not compare yourself to others. God is
always just and fair. Those devotees who have put a lot

of effort into seeking Self-realization over many lives,

have a destiny that is beneficial for receiving extra Grace
in this life from this Avatar. However, it is never too late
to start with renewed vigor, dedication and will to
attract the Grace of Sathya Sai Baba. The more your
sincere devotion to God and commitment in the proper
way, as laid out in My Teachings, the easier it will be to
gain My Grace for Atmic Realization.
For those seekers who are open-hearted and full of love

for God and all beings, it will be easier to realize Atma.
For those seekers whose minds and hearts are blocked
from receiving or giving love, it will be more difficult to
realize Atma. Why? Because Atma is synonymous with
Love; the selfless, egoless love that gives without
expecting anything in return, and is without mental
calculation. The loving devotee lives in and as love,
giving, giving, and giving. Giving what? A smile; a
cheerful word; a helping hand; and words of wisdom and
uplift where needed. Such a one feels happy most of the
time due to the love that flows freely through them.
Though he still may have ego, it will be easier for him to
know Atma than for the one who is blocked. The one
who is blocked will not feel much true happiness from
Atma. He will have to work harder, and do more
spiritual practices; perhaps psychotherapy and other
therapies to free himself from negative conditioning that
has shut him down and caused him to be unable to
receive and give love unconditionally. There are many
devotees that suffer a lot, unable to receive much love
from God due to negative conditioning acquired from

past karma and past living. I feel sorry; I have

compassion toward them; they cry out for Me to feel
Gods Love and Bliss, but the opening is so small.
Nevertheless, I encircle them with My Presence, My
Energy to reassure them that I am with them; to
encourage them to keep on purifying and removing
conditioning. Sometimes it takes a decade and more of
time until such blocked devotees truly feel the Atmic
Presence in and around them. Many times they do not
know how to remove the heavy conditioning, the
negativity that blocks them. Slowly, little by little, such
devotees learn how to let go of conditioning, and I
continue to help them.
When Catherine first met Me in Prasanthi Nilayam, she

wished to merge with Me straight away. She loved Me
passionately but was unable to merge in Atma with Me
due to many blockages and mental/emotional
conditionings. We worked together for a long time; she
worked on herself constantly to purify herself using her
strong intuition, many self-help books and her growing
Atmic Witness; and I helped her with timely Grace of
dreams and interviews and constant Grace of My
Energy/Shakti to purify her on all levels. For the past few
years, or so, due also to the serious practice of
meditation, Catherine has been merging regularly with
Me in the Spiritual Heart. She now knows herself to be
Atma, One with Me. Though the mind and emotions
come up from time to time, she very quickly tosses them
aside and largely remains merged in Atma. She has been
a good devotee, very sincere and intent on merging with

Me, though the Path has been a painful struggle for her;
painful due to her ego struggles. I always tell her that I
am very proud of her for sticking to the Path despite the
painful ego struggles she had to go through and let go of.
I am telling you of Catherines struggle so that you will

know that the Spiritual Path is not that easy, more
difficult for some than for others; but that the goal is
certain and attainable by all sincere, committed seekers.
My Grace is easily obtained by such seekers who never
give up but continue against all obstacles to love God
and follow His Teachings.

My Dear Devotees, here We are again together, two

minds joining to impart and share Divine Knowledge. It
is a great privilege for you to read and imbibe the
vibration and meaning of My Words given to you with
great love and care. Make the best use of them for the
uplift of the spiritual, moral, mental and emotional
layers.
Today I will tell you more about Atma and how to realize
and become It. First of all, I wish you to know that Atma
is the Essence of Your Soul that came down into
incarnation as a physical, emotional, mental, vital
being. So, you can see there are many layers covering
the Atma. The more refined and transparent you can

make these layers, the easier it will be to recognize

Atma. So what is this soul really? It is a combination of
all the experiences your consciousness along with the
physical, mental, emotional and vital sheaths has gone
through in the evolution through mineral, plant, animal
or human incarnations. It is not that simple to convey
because much change takes place on all these planes of
experience during every incarnation and between
incarnations over a long period of time. One could say
that the soul in present time comprises the essence of all
the experiences the consciousness has gone through. I
am telling you this as a prelude to sharing with you what
happens to the soul as consciousness evolves further
beyond the human to the Divine level. As consciousness
evolves, so to speak, the mental, physical, emotional and
vital bodies that comprise the individual soul, become
highly refined. I say, evolve so to speak, because
consciousness or Atma does not really evolve, it flowers
or becomes apparent. It rises up out of the ashes of the
soul that had become buried and lost to itself in the
matter vestures. And then something happens, a
mystical burning up of the soul, so to speak. Like a
butterfly emerging from the chrysalis after a long spell of
transformation, the purified soul becomes Spirit or
Atma. It has been said at this time, that the Father and
Child have become One; the Atma and its reflection have
merged; the drop has become the ocean.
How does it happen that soul is transmuted into Spirit or

Atma? Well, it happens over time through spiritual
practice and Grace; through constant identification of

ones consciousness as Atma/God; constant dis-

identification of oneself with the content of
consciousness; that is, detachment from negative,
egotistical mental, emotional and vital movements and
so on. You know all the spiritual practices, so I need not
say more about it. You will know and feel that you are
pure consciousness, undisturbed, peaceful, content, still,
feeling of oneness, and loving. The essence of the soul is
the Pure Being, Awareness/Consciousness, Pure thinking
and feeling. Spirit or Atma emerges as the True Self, and
the former soul, the old illusory individuality based on
illusion and delusion, disappears as darkness vanishes
before the blazing sunlight.

My Dear Ones, you may wonder what happens next.

Here you are, Pure Spirit/Atma. How do you lead your
life as Pure Spirit? Well, it is not your life any longer.
You have long ago surrendered your life to God.
Though you still have a very small sense of individuality
that comes and goes, it is there if you need it. You
largely experience a Oneness with all that is the One
Spirit or God. You know, as Spirit or Atma, that there is a
Power, a Force, and Intelligence that is controlling or
running the Universe according to Divine Laws. All
realized beings follow these Laws, with joy, to the letter.
They do not knowingly deviate from living Gods Laws in
every moment of now. This is what is meant by a

Perfected Being, one who lives in perfect harmony with

Gods Laws and His Perfection. So you can see that
knowledge of Gods Laws and His Perfection is
important, essential, in order to live this Blessed Life as
Pure Spirit or Atma. Those who live as Atma have no
self-interest, no sense of ego that wants to acquire and
amass for its own sake. Life as Spirit is about sharing,
helping in many ways such as giving spiritual,
psychological counsel, and all types of healing physical,
mental, emotional, spiritual and more. There is no scope
at all for the small selfish ego in the realm of Spirit. It is
gone, non-existent, has been mystically burnt away. So
if you are thinking that as you progress spiritually, you
will become very powerful, this is true. You may wield
great power, as I, Sathya Sai, do; but this is Divine power
used for the uplift of all, according to Divine Law and
Will, without a trace of ego. You may have noticed that
while I was on earth, I used nothing for Myself; for Me
there is no personal self that needs anything. For the
sake of maintaining the physical body, I have taken some
food and covered it with simple clothing. I have been
giving and giving selflessly without a thought for My self
because I am Spirit only and the nature of Spirit is to
give, not take; to share Divine Love with all so that they
all may know Oneness with Me and one another.
You may ask, what about the beautiful temples and

thrones that were built for Me? Wasnt this a very
extravagant lifestyle for Spirit that needs nothing? I tell
you that all of this was not for Spirit. It was to glorify
Spirit in the eyes of the devotees, the seekers who saw

themselves as small, petty and inconsequential. These

beautiful structures and embellishments were there to
attract seekers to Divinity, an earthly display of that
which is True, Good, Auspicious and Beautiful; to help
raise the mental, emotional, vital levels of aspirants to a
higher level of aspiration towards Divine Beauty and
Auspiciousness. What devotee would wish the
embodiment of the Lord of the Universe to live in a hut?
I simply complied with My Devotees wishes, to make
them happy that their Lord could be installed in a
beautiful dwelling. I knew these buildings, temples and
thrones would last for thousands of years and comprise
Divine pilgrimage destinations for millions of seekers of
Truth in the future, providing beautiful, peaceful havens
for all to enjoy. I was always and only thinking of the
wellbeing and happiness of devotees throughout the
Advent of the Sathya Sai Baba Avatarhood.

My Dear Devotees and others who would be interested

to hear My Words, I am here to speak about the ways to
know yourself as Atma. Why to know yourself as Atma?
To know the ultimate Truth of this universe and be free
and blissful in It and as It, eternally. And to have the
capacity to know anything you wish to know; also to be
supremely content knowing you are God and that God is
the only Truth; all else is false. What is false? The
changing matter forms; millions upon millions of them,

from a rock to an ant; a human body to a sun and a

galaxy. I am sure you get the idea. So there is no use to
believe the world of forms is going to stay as it is in this
moment as it is perceived through the senses. You are
bound to be disappointed if you depend on the forms,
whether dollars, rupees, mothers, children, banks or
insurance companies. One or other of them or all of
them may let you down; disappoint you during your
lifetime by disappearing or changing into a form you are
unhappy with. You should only place your trust and faith
in the permanent, unchanging Truth, Atma or God. This
is the prudent decision to make given the facts.
For those of you who are seekers of Truth, you may be

interested to hear the words of one, Myself who is Truth.
Allow Me to begin by saying that Truth is very simple,
uncomplicated, very different from the mind, intellect
and world of forms. It is so simple that seekers keep on
missing it. Truth is the most subtle; you cannot say it is a
substance. It is beyond that which is substantial in the
material sense. Then if this is so, how to know Truth?
You, as body, mind, intellect and vital are material,
having substance. To be Truth or Atma, you must know
yourself as formless, having no form whatsoever, and
therefore all pervasive and unchanging. Are you
prepared to be only That? Why to seek what you have
not prepared yourself mentally to BE? Question your
mind whether it is enough for you. Are you ready to let
go of all that is not Truth? If so, realization will be easy
for your consciousness/pure mind to accept; to be
nothing, yet the source and basis of all forms and all

pervasive. You as Atma are the basis of all the worlds, all
the universes, using primal shakti/energy to create. This
should be enough as it is everything, yet the separate
ego self is often still afraid to let go of its identification
with its small contrived self and its so-called passions
and attachments. Everything belongs to God, the
Totality. It is a mirage to believe you are anyone or own
anything. For incarnation after incarnation, you believe
you are someone, so keep being born again and again.
Wrong identification keeps you coming back as well as
material desires and attachments. Hand over your mind,
body, intellect to God and He will show you how to
purify your Self of what is false, so you again shine as the
Atma, the One Atma of the universe.

Many devotees think that they know better than the

Satguru or God what is best for their spiritual
advancement. They cling onto certain rituals and
practices that they like, and may have been doing so for
many years. These provide mental pleasure and
contentment and the devotee believes that she is
progressing toward Atmic realization, when in fact there
is little or no progress. The consciousness remains in the
mental world of names and forms and does not go
beyond. The same goes for those seekers who are mainly
interested in experiences, those other devotees
experience with Me as well as their own. Such

experiences are mainly on the mental, physical levels

with Me or other forms of God. My Dear Ones, you must
go beyond this type of seeking in order to experience the
formless Truth. I realize there is a stage in the progress
of the devotee whereby knowing about others'
experiences with Divinity and having some yourself are
important to instill faith and confidence in Divinity; but
how much is enough? You must make a decision that
now is the time to go beyond experiences in the realm of
name and form. And this is a big leap into the unknown
for most, with some fear of loss. The ego is afraid.
Reassure the ego that the world will still be here, only
you will see it differently, that is all. When you get
absorbed in the Atma and become Atma, the world will
be there. As you spend more and more time getting
absorbed in Truth, you will become happier and more
blissful, feel freer, more loving and content. You will
know you are at home in God, and that the phenomenal
world of forms and experiences with forms is not your
true home and never was. So there is nothing to fear in
coming home to the Self and residing in the Kingdom of
Heaven. It is all Light and Delight, where there is no fear
or grief or negativity of any kind. So I advise you to just
let go and trust that the movement from untruth to
Truth, Darkness of Ignorance to the Light of Atma and
True Knowledge can be an easy transformation while
holding My Hand in Love and becoming glued to Me, the
Formless Truth.

My Dear Devotees, a hearty welcome to all who are

reading My words and taking them to heart. You will
certainly make progress and reach the goal of mergence
in God. Keep a nearness in the heart to Me and you will
be rewarded with Divine Grace of Self-realization and
liberation and more. Now, what is the relationship of
the Atma to Self-realization? How is it accomplished? I
will tell you. First of all, see that all the outer activity of
the physical body, vital, mental and intellectual aspects
is of prakriti or nature. Here I am speaking about the
lower nature of the human being as distinct from the
higher nature. There must develop within you a certain
disinterestedness and detachment from these aspects of
the lower nature, in order to become firmly identified as
Atma. For a long period of time it is necessary to divide
these two in the mind, giving all attention to aspiration
to attain Atma; and pull away from the identification and
interest in the lower mental, vital, emotional and
physical aspects of the entire being. What do I mean?
For example, an essential part of practice is to witness
these lower aspects, the sensations, instincts, desires,
useless thoughts, feelings and emotions connected to
the outer world, etc. Why? They are connected to the
lower nature, the false nature, a mixture of the animal
and unenlightened human aspects that are useless to
the realization of Atma. As the witnessing consciousness
becomes more developed through practice and becomes
acutely aware of these aspects in the being that do not
contribute in the least to Self-realization, and are

detrimental to Self-realization, one must leave them, not

follow or give into them, using a firm resolution. Here
one is disentangling the Truth from what is untruth in
ones being and keeping and cherishing only the Truth or
Atma.
Some examples of what may come up in the being that

need to be let go in order to purify and perfect the being
are: all the cravings of the vital/mental/physical for
excess food, food that is harmful to the body; alcohol,
cigarettes, even tea and coffee if one is addicted to
them. Addiction to anything must be given up so that
the inner being will be free. Seek out the habits, urges
and compulsions such as I must do this or that or I
cannot live; I must have this or that material thing or
convenience or I cannot be happy. All outer things one is
attached to, bind and prevent total freedom of the
consciousness.
I am not saying that you should be a total renunciate,

living alone, sitting in meditation. Be a renunciate in
your inner life, nonattached to anything other than the
Divine Atma. Be a witness to everything, non-reactive, in
deep peace and calm, attuned to Divine Consciousness.
In this state, the lower nature may do beneficial actions,
speak necessary words, feel positive emotions; but you
are a witness to this, acutely aware of what is going on
within your being; not bothered by the external world
and external conditions. You follow Gods Will for you
and His Laws and that is enough in any given moment.
So you can see that the Atma does not get involved in

the lower nature, but remains aloof, detached, always

pure, pristine and blissful.

Some of you may be thinking that life will be very boring

and dull if you are to be disinterested in everything but
Divine Atma. This is just a mental attitude you are
holding on to and have been used to holding onto. You
are accustomed to seeing people in the external world
happily enjoying the pleasures and enjoyments; but you
do not see into their hearts and minds as I do. They are
often unhappy, anxious, fearful, attached, teaming with
desires small and large for themselves and their families;
full of opinions, convictions, beliefs and so much more.
Most are completely bogged down living through the
lower nature.
Self-realization is not a boring state for the Self-realized.

It is a state of unending peace, joy, and bliss that once
attained, would not be traded for the lower life of the
unenlightened human being. There is boundless pure
love and light; no conflict, no negativity, no striving, no
goal, no pain or disturbance of any kind. Who would not
wish for such a state of Divine Existence? Only those
who have never tasted it or have forgotten about its
existence or possibility. So trust Me that Self-realization
above all else is worth attaining. Anyway, all are
destined to return as the end of evolution is just That.

Now, let us go on to another aspect of Atmic realization.

I once told you that if you take one step toward Me, I will
take 100 towards you. What did I mean? Well, I am
Atma, so taking one step toward Me would be taking a
step toward Atma, the One Atma. What would taking a
step toward Atma look like, and how would I respond?
Really, a step toward Atma would be your true sincere
aspiration for the Divine above all else. Your
commitment to finding the Atma, your strong
perseverance, faith, trust and endurance in the face of
all inner and outer conditions and circumstances, in a
state of calm and peace and trust that Divine Will is
there at all times. These are the steps I am talking about
that will attract My Grace that will speed you on your
way to Atmic realization. I look after you, help you,
guide you, and protect you until you reach the goal,
when you are absolutely sincere and committed to Atmic
realization.
Those so-called devotees who are equally committed to

the false world, wasting time and energy in idle pursuits,
do not receive My Grace in the same way. Though I am
ever ready to give, one must deserve it, be open to
receive it and make the best use of it for spiritual uplift.
My devotees know that I dont waste My Words, time or
energy where they are not welcome or appreciated.
Enough said about this. Make yourselves ready and you
will be showered with My Blessings.

I hope you are getting the ideas about Atma and all they
imply. It is not a static state but rather a constant flow
and movement within the Totality that is Brahman. The
moving and the unmoving, it is said of the nature of
Brahman. Let us consider for a moment the nature of
Brahman. What is it? It is the macrocosm and you are
the microcosm. You have this intimate relationship to
the Totality and you do not know it. This is why the
knowers of Truth ask you to first know yourself and then
all will be easily known. Without knowing yourself, you
look out at the world, the cosmos, and do not see it
truly. You only see what the eyes show you; that is, the
surface. Deep within the cosmos, consciousness and
energy intermingle and play together in the so-called
dance of Nataraj. And man is not aware of this, his true
nature with the Divine.
Today, we will discuss more about the Nature of Atma in

relation to enlightenment. What is enlightenment? It is
the refinement of knowledge, of awareness, until all is
known about the Truth of oneself and the cosmos. The
essential truth that is eternal, unchanging. But you may
say that half of the equation is always changing; but this
is truth that energy is in action, changing. So
enlightenment is knowing and understanding the truths,
the laws that are the basis of the universe and living in
harmony with them. What are some these rules and
laws an enlightened being knows and lives? Well, there
are many. The universe is made up of energy; matter is

energy and energy vibrates. The lower the vibration, the

slower the movement; the faster the vibration, the
faster the movement. A rock has a slower vibration than
a sun, a star, so the rate of movement is different. An
enlightened being has a very high vibration that allows
him to move quickly. How? Whatever he thinks or wills
manifests immediately; wherever he wishes to move to,
he is there immediately. So, here I am speaking about
the Law of vibration of energy, that the enlightened one
has knowledge of and control over.
Another law is the Law of Transmutation of energy.

Energy can take any form. For example, it can take the
form of anger or of selfless love. It is a law that higher
energies transmute lower energies, but lower energies
do not transmute higher energies. So Spiritual teachers
advise devotees to keep the company of saints and sages
so devotees energies will be transmuted to a higher
vibration. Why to have a higher vibration? Love, bliss,
peace, Atma are high vibrations and these are what
aspiring devotees are seeking.
Another law: The transmigration of souls who have not

realized Truth. The astral and heavenly planes where
souls reside in between incarnations match the vibration
of the souls who go there. The Law of Karma affects the
physical, mental, emotional, vital bodies of beings. It is a
law of cause and effect whereby one reaps what they
have sown. Grace can mitigate the effects of Karma;
those who have surrendered to God and live in and as
Atma and have the Grace of the Satguru will not

experience the impact of Karma the same way that a

worldly person may experience.
The Law of evolution of consciousness through matter is

evident in creation. Consciousness moves through all
the kingdoms in creation, mineral, plant, animal, etc. up
to human; then realizes Itself as the fullness of Atma, of
Divinity.
Energy never dies, it changes forms. For example, from

water to water vapor or to ice. It may appear to become
tainted, impure, but at its base, it is always pure and
capable of sloughing of impurities that have accrued.
For example, the oceans today are full of pollution.
However this pollution consisting of molecules and
atoms of certain elements and chemicals will in time
break down into their basic parts. Evolution will, in time,
bring about species that will be able to consume and
transmute these pollutants into benign particles in order
for the planet and its species to continue to evolve and
flourish.

My Dear Devotees let us continue today to understand

the Laws of the Universe that relate to enlightenment.
There is a law pertaining to conservation of energy. This
means that though the enlightened one may have great
powers to manifest and work with energy, it is not

wasted or used for selfish purposes, but always used in a

Divine way.
Next is the law related to the uses of energy. Energy is

used in many ways to create, to sustain and to destroy.
The ordinary unenlightened being who does not
understand how to use energy in a proper way, performs
destructive actions, thoughts or words that harm others
and faces the consequences of the misuse of energy.
Many harmful creations such as the atomic bomb,
chemicals and other weapons of mass destruction, can
be seen as a misuse of creative energy. Negativity in the
form of words and thoughts are a misuse of creative
energy in the unenlightened. An enlightened being uses
energy in a conscious way to create that which is good,
true and beautiful.
I ask My devotees to see what is good, think, hear, speak

and do what is good so you may thereby purify
yourselves of all negativity and raise the vibration of
your being to higher and higher levels, to the Atmic level.
There is no immortality without morality. Be vigilant to
develop and maintain a virtuous life and thus build a
beautiful character based on divine virtues. When you
raise your vibration, the energy of your total being to
higher levels, you will be able to manifest in a Divine
way, as a co-creator with God. You will no longer be
interested in manifesting material things like houses,
cars and such on the physical plane. You would be more
interested to perhaps create healing temples, write

spiritual books, and initiate humanitarian causes and so

on.
Another law to be understood is the law of

multiplication of energy. It goes like this: whatever you
give selflessly with love and kindness to another will
return to you tenfold. Perhaps not immediately but the
return is certain to happen. This law is to encourage
selfless service through evolving humanity so they may
know the ways of Divinity. It is not be used in a selfish
way, giving to get. The law will not work in this way. So
even if you give the little you have away to help another,
you are certain to be rewarded and cared for by the
Divine. Leave the how and when up to the Divine.

My Dear Devotees, I am here to help you in every way to

progress on the spiritual Path. But what is progression?
Most important is giving up the sense that you are the
doer. There is but one doer, God. Let Him work through
you to achieve much in your lifetime. What would God
wish to achieve through you? Your liberation, for one
thing. As you become liberated, and the small me ego
center disappears, the Divine takes over your thoughts,
words and actions. It always was the Divine doing, only
this doing was impure, distorted due to ego thinking it
was the doer. Basically, God wants to manifest Himself
through the physical form. And what would this Divine

manifestation look like? For those who can see, this is

what they would see. An embodiment of perfect peace,
equanimity, impartiality, seeing all as one consciousness,
intelligence having manifested into all forms. Looking
upon an enlightened one, one would see an inner and
outer radiance, a goodwill toward all, a detachment from
all that is fleeting, and a oneness with Truth. This Truth
works through such a one, using the positive attributes
and abilities and skills to show the Divine to the world.
Not only to show the Divine; the Divine state acts as a
catalyst to turn others toward the Divine within
themselves so that they in turn may return to the
egoless state of perfection in oneness. Of course, such a
one still retains a name and minimal attachment to the
physical form so it may be maintained through food,
water, proper hygiene, etc.
Now, another law of the universe enlightened ones are

aware of and abide by, is the law of death and rebirth.
Here we are speaking about the evolution of God
consciousness through the matter creatures. The
consciousness in all forms is evolving from the mineral
kingdom to plant, animal up to human and Divine levels.
Let us talk about the human level. Until the
consciousness, the Atma in a human being is realized as
the Truth of that being, and the ego sense sublimated to
the bare essential required to maintain a physical life,
that ego-centered human will not be released from the
cycle of rebirth. As that one has identified himself as a
body/mind, an individual human being with a certain
vibration, after the death of the physical body, that one

will upon discarding the physical body, go to a dimension

matching his vibration. The mental, emotional, and vital
sheaths will slowly detach from the consciousness and
return to their respective domains. The soul will rest
for some time in the Light, and then prepare with the
help of spiritual guides to return to earth (usually) by
entering a new body. Why? For further balancing of
karma, to experience spiritual tests and initiations, to
hopefully learn how to become liberated from rebirth if
she has developed the qualifications. This is a very
simplified account of death and rebirth. There is much
more to it. I am here to show you how not to be born
again, to end the cycle of birth and death for all time.
Once you surrender your ego and doership, God takes
over and makes it happen.

We have been discussing the laws of the universe that

enlightened ones abide by. It is not that they abide as an
ordinary human follows the laws of the land. These laws
are part of the way of Being or life that the Enlightened
One has merged into, and he is aware of them, and the
way the universe works. When you are God, you think
and act like God. There is no difference.
Another Divine Law: It is the law governing

manifestation. Who can manifest and what can they
manifest? Only God can manifest; this is the Truth.

Though it looks like humans are manifesting, it is God in

them who is manifesting through them. You hear all
kinds of talk today about the power of positive thinking
and ability to focus and manifest what one wishes for in
life. When human beings participate in these, they are
actually purifying themselves, thereby contacting their
Divine Self, becoming a co-creator with God who
manifests what they wish. The level of ones vibration
affects how quickly the manifestation will occur. Also,
simply praying once or twice for something is not going
to have much effect. To manifest requires inner purity,
strong focus, trust, a high vibration throughout ones
being. Also, ones karma to be experienced in this birth
may act as a brake, to negate or delay the results
manifesting. You can see that the large majority of
earth's human populations are not destined to be
financially wealthy. And this state of living probably
would not help one to evolve spiritually anyway.
So how should the common man/woman view and use

the law of manifestation? First of all, most are not
aware such a law exists. They live through their five
senses of perception and desire mind viewing the
exterior world as the Truth or reality. People try to get
what they desire through their own ego methods.
That is, to be the doer and earn more money, become
more educated, marry into a prosperous family, cultivate
your children to be big earners, and so on. So people try,
but it is always God who gives. People are often held
back from receiving what they could have by low self-
esteem, low self-confidence, negative conditionings, and

so on. The law of karma plays into what one will receive
in any given birth also. Though great self-effort, along
with confidence and trust, despite karma, may yield
results commensurate with the effort, trust and
confidence that the Divine will provide that which is
beneficial to life is powerful.
As one raises one's vibration through spiritual practices,

purification and surrender to the Divine, desires
decrease and disappear. The Divine manifests through
such a surrendered one that which is True, Good,
Auspicious and Beautiful for this is the nature of God.

It is true that spiritual aspirants will progress much faster

if they are aware of the Universal Laws. Knowledge of
the Universal Laws puts them at an advantage. By
following them, one is acting like a Master. How? One is
careful not to waste energy, not to use it in a selfish way,
whether it is food, money, water or any God-given
resource. One is always observant to raise his energy
vibration higher and to stay away from foods, activities,
and places that lower the vibration. One is aware of all
kinds of vibrations of people, places, movies, etc., so is
able to discern where to go, and generally how to best
lead a spiritual life. One is aware of the results of living in
negative ego and living selflessly and so chooses to live a
life of negation of self-centered ego life and adopts a life

of sharing and giving. Because whatever you give in an

egoless way, returns ten-fold, though this is not why you
do it. You do it because it is your Divine nature to give
and share in an egoless way expecting nothing in return.
Here discernment is needed. You dont give away your
home and all your money; you need a place to live and
food, clothing, etc. You discern how much you really
need and give to charity what you can because you are
aware of the law of oneness; that whatever you do for
another, you do for yourself.
As you are aware of the Law of the Cycle of Birth and

Death, you make efforts to identify your self as Atma and
not body/mind/ego complex. As a result, you become
aware of your immortality as Atma, burn karma and
need not be born again into a physical body. Knowledge
of the laws is a great help to advance. When you live the
laws, you can see that there is really no free will. You
are living in God, with God. There is no separation. So all
is Gods Will.
Now another law: as within, so without. Whatever is

within your mind/consciousness, you invariably project it
outside of yourself onto the external world which
includes your physical body/mind/ego self. The images,
thoughts, beliefs, ideas and conditioning you have about
yourself that are incorporated within your conscious-
ness, you, to some extent, project on to others. If you
think you are basically a worthless person, you will see
many people as worthless also. You may have some
inbuilt ideas that wealthy, successful people are not

worthless, for example. You may believe that famous

movie stars and athletes are not worthless because they
have the positive attention and love of many people. You
may believe that your religion is the only worthwhile one
to follow because of your conditioning from family, etc.
What may you project internally from this belief? Those
that follow your religion are good, will be saved, are
intelligent, and all others are doomed and ignorant.
It is essential to become aware of all your personal

stuff and see how you project it outside of yourself
onto the exterior world. Why? So you can purify your
mind/consciousness of conditioning; so your vision will
become pure again like a newborn child who sees God
everywhere; a vision that is free of concepts, ideas,
judgments, opinions and images about what he sees,
hears, tastes and touches. Newborns look out upon the
world with purity. What is inside is outside. You are to
become pure like a child with the wisdom of a sage.
Work to drop images, opinions, judgments, conditioning,
ideas, projections etc., to unburden your consciousness
and mind. Be the witness, the Atma and live as Peace,
Bliss, and Knowledge of Oneness of Existence.

My Dear Devotees, I hope you are enjoying the

discussions about the laws of the universe and how they
may help you to perfect your understanding of the ways

of the Divine. You must come to know all these laws and
incorporate their workings into your life Divine. This is
surrender to God and being a perfect co-creator with
Him/Her.
Now, another law; it is the law of reflection, reaction and

resound. This is how it works. Whatever you hold within
yourself, such as your thoughts about self, others and
the world, speak whatever you speak, comes back to
you. If you hold the thoughts within yourself, about
yourself, that you are not good enough, the world will
reflect this back to you. People may shun you, look
down on you. In some way, some people will appear in
your life to reflect your feelings and thoughts you have
about yourself. If you have a lot of self love and self
confidence, you will attract others to you who have the
same. You may also attract jealousy and negativity from
some who do not have your qualities and wish they did.
Due to your strength in these areas, you are able to
overlook and be away from others' negativity.
Reaction is closely related to reflection. It is action that

comes as a result of another action. Suppose someone
insults you; right away you react based on your
interpretation of what the other person said or did.
Because you are sensitive about an aspect of yourself,
and you identify yourself with this aspect, you are
moved to react. For example, if you care very much
about how others perceive your physical appearance and
someone says you look dull and unattractive, you will
feel offended. Unless you detach from others opinions

and base your self-esteem, self-worth and confidence on

the fact that you are the Divine Atma, it will difficult to
not be caught up in the action-reaction game of worldly
life. One who is Master of himself is aware of this law of
reaction, so does not get caught up in it. A Master may
choose to respond or not to respond, but maintains
inner calm and equanimity no matter what happens in
the external world.
Your reaction to others actions, whether in thought or

action, shows you something about yourself that you
need to work on. It is not about the other person. That
need not concern you except in cases where you know
to stay away from them. You are shown a part of
yourself that is yet to be integrated, yet to be accepted
and loved, purified or set free. If you are completely
pure and free inside, there will be no reactions from your
consciousness/mind.
Now, resound: There are many different sounds in the

world. In the animal kingdom, the sounds come directly
from the being: a crow naturally caws, birds sing their
songs, etc. But there is also resound. Dogs bark as a
reaction to outside stimuli; animals and birds call to one
another. And then you have the world of human
interaction where one person says one thing and
another speaks back. However, resound here means the
sounds that come from the inner being, usually words or
other sounds. The content and expression of sound is
different and unique from every being whether human,
animal or machine, sun, solar system or insect. You as an

embodiment of the Divine Atma, should watch the

resounds emitted from your being, ensuring they are
Divine resounds, expressing Truth, Auspiciousness and
Beauty. Mantras and bhajans are Divine resounds.
Loving, compassionate, truthful words are Divine
resounds. When you are aware of the law of reflection,
reaction, resound, you will see that what comes in front
of you from the outer world is related to what is in your
inner world. Purify your inner world, make it Divine, and
you will see the same Divine everywhere.

My Beloved Devotees let us look together at a few more

laws that sustain the universe in its present form. Did
you know that all your thoughts, words, actions and
more are recorded in the ether in what are called the
Akashic Records? Yes, they really exist. All knowledge
about all the past lives of all your human incarnations is
here and can be accessed. Though there are keepers of
this knowledge, it can be accessed by those who know
how to do so. Why are these records kept? For many
reasons. The Karmic Board of planet earth often looks
into ones past karma to see how much and which
aspects may be nullified, so one on the spiritual path
may progress faster and more easily. A Satguru or
spiritual Master may choose to get karma nullified for
the devotee. A Master may look into a devotees past
lives in the Akashic Records to see where his strengths

lie, as well as to why certain weaknesses are there in the

character, to know best how to help him/her overcome
them.
Another law is that of service. Humans are truly born to

serve one another and the life on the planet. Service can
take many forms, such as caring for the ill and
handicapped, caring for ones children and parents,
caring for animals, plants, trees, as well as the resources
on the planet such as water, air and so on. The royal
road to spiritual progress is to serve others. I have said
that the best way to love God is to love and serve all.
When you serve another expecting nothing in return,
your ego sense gets diminished, then you feel more
sense of oneness with the other, and good karma
accrues to you. As a result, you can be reborn in
conditions more advantageous to spiritual progress. But
if you do not happily serve others in a loving egoless
way, but lead a selfish life, your future karma may not be
conducive to strong spiritual progress. So see whether
and how often you are serving and how much time you
devote to your personal gain. I have said that the
husband is born to serve the wife and the wife to serve
the husband. The children are to serve the parents and
the parents serve the children. Human beings are to look
after the well-being of one another up to the extent
possible. In this way, one will realize the Divine Oneness
of humanity in the Fatherhood/Motherhood of God.
Humans will not progress spiritually if they do not serve
and help others.

Another law: Whatever you think, feel, speak and do

determines your energy vibration. The purity or lack of
purity in these aspects determines where your vibration
lies on a continuum from demon to Divine. And your
energy vibration may fluctuate from day to day. To
merge with God, keep your vibration very loving and
pure. Tell Me your company and I will tell you what you
are. Here I was referring to your energy vibration based
on your thoughts, feelings, words and actions. Are you a
demon, an animal, a human or Divine? Or a mixture of
these? It is up to you to watch your words, thoughts,
actions, character and heart; and I would add, your
company whether it is friends, the television, movies,
and the workplace. You may be influenced by these if
you allow it to happen and your vibration may be
lowered. Progression on the spiritual path means
purifying your vibration to raise it to the Divine level. I
am blessing My devotees that they raise their vibration
and merge with Me.

My Dear Devotees, I know that those of you who love

Me, God, wish to merge with Me for everlasting love,
bliss, peace and freedom from all that binds. I once gave
an example about letting go of all that binds you. I
enclosed a handkerchief in my hand and held it there,
and then I opened my hand. The handkerchief fell
effortlessly to the ground. I was showing you that it

takes more effort to hold on than to let go. To hold onto

anything with your mind takes more effort than to forget
about it usually; unless you have held on for a very
long time. Even then with your will and effort, you can
let go and be detached.
There is much talk in spiritual circles about surrender.

What is surrender? It is realizing that everything already
belongs to God, came from God and will return to God.
So offer everything to God; your body, mind, spirit and
become One again. Your body is bound to perish, but
while it lasts, consecrate it by offering it to God as His
instrument so He may work through you in an utterly
pure Divine way. He can only do this if you have purified
your instruments the mind, emotions, vital, before
offering them to Him. Give Me that mind/consciousness
as pure as when I gave it to you. Then like will merge
with like.
Often I have said that it is no use to keep on using the

thinking mind all the time in spiritual practices. There
has to come a time when the thinking mind ceases and
Pure Being Awareness arises. So spend time in silence
regularly, cut your desires and practice detachment, so
the Truth will arise from amid the chaos and confusion.
As the mind becomes stilled and peaceful, Truth or Atma
will be known as your Self or My Self which are the
same. You will never again feel lonely when you realize
that all are One, and there has only been One. Loneliness
came into existence when the mind believed there were
others and got attached to the others, needing physical

bodies around to feel loved and secure. This is all

illusion. You are the embodiment of endless love and
eternal existence. Ideas of need and security relate to
the transient physical life. Nothing to worry about. The
Divine protects the physical body until it is time for it to
drop off. Take refuge in the eternal Atma/Spirit and then
leave everything to the Divine. This is surrender

When I began these talks, I knew that many would

benefit from them and experience the bliss of Atma, a
Bliss so full and fulfilling that tears of joy fall from the
eyes. Catherine is now experiencing that fullness of
Divine bliss and love, as she keeps her mind merged in
Me. She tells Me that she has waited so long for this,
many lives, and now she feels so fulfilled by immersion
in Atmic Bliss. It is the ultimate; when one is that,
nothing more is needed, ever. It is the grace, the gift of
God that brings it forth as a result of surrender and great
love for the Divine. I wish for all of you to have and be
this Divine Bliss and Love that is Atma.
Now My Sweet Ones, I will speak more about the ways

to attain to this state of Truth. Consider that all acts are
done for and by God; that all words and thoughts are
directed toward God. For example, when you answer the
telephone, think it is God you are speaking to, for it truly
is God who hears even though the ego self in the other

believes it is he who is hearing and experiencing. If you

direct your conversation to God in your own mind, you
will be just, fair, respectful, kind and loving. Sometimes
you may have to be firm depending on the situation. If it
is a friend or family member, direct your affection to
God in that person. The other person need not know,
should not know. They would deem you mad. I have said
that the heart is a one seat sofa there is room for only
one in the heart, and that one is God. If you wish to
know and be the One, see, hear, and experience the One
God at all times. When you meet someone in physical
form, in your mind acknowledge the One Atma within
that person. Do not forget that your are interacting with
God in that form. The same with animals, trees, and
plants. Feel Gods Presence, the Atma and Shakti
(Energy) unifying, giving existence, awareness to that
living being. This is the Eternal, whilst the talk is
temporary, evanesant. In this way you avoid getting
attached to what is temporary, physical names, forms,
personalities, egos. You always think of God, seeing the
One in the many forms. This Truth, this Light will set you
free from bondage to the unreal and at the same time
move your consciousness into the One Truth, the Atma.

My Dear Beloved Devotees, I am with you now and

forever. There is only One God and He is Omnipresent. I

am helping you to realize this Truth. I hope you are

getting it, that you realize you already are It.
So what will be the topic today? Dont try so hard. You

must find a balance between putting in too much effort
and putting too little effort in your spiritual practice;
your spiritual life. I see that many of you are too hard on
yourselves, and others are much too lax. Both are
detrimental. How? When you are too hard on yourself,
expecting spiritual progress, that such and such should
happen or have already happened by now, you become
disappointed and saddened with yourself that you are
not making progress. So you are building more mental
and emotional baggage, more conditioning and thus
increasing ego rather than diminishing it. So what to do
to avoid this from happening? I advise you not to have
expectations about your spiritual progress. Yes, you may
read about the lives of saints, read My teachings, have
clear understanding about the nature of Atma and
spiritual practices I advise. But enter into repetition of
God's name and singing devotional songs to God with
full love for God. Let your love merge with Gods love.
Love is the goal. Do not compare your spiritual life with
others. Everyone is unique and has his very own path to
God-realization. Comparing will either deflate or inflate
your ego. Be happy when others are happy. See others
spiritual gifts as having been earned in this or past lives
and your gifts are also there for you and will become
apparent as your spirit blooms and blossoms. Everything
comes from God at the right time. So do not compare; it
is useless. So, trying too hard and comparing with others

enhances your negative ego. Develop love for God,

dedicate all your actions to God; live a God centered life.
Your first and most important relationship is your
relationship with God. Leave others to their own
business and their relationship with God. God has an
exclusive relationship with each devotee/disciple.
And then there are those who I call lazy and lax in their
spiritual life. They do not do self inquiry, do not develop
awareness, do not dedicate their actions to the Divine,
do not chant or sing Gods name. They are nice, try not
to hurt others. There is no fire in them to decondition,
purify, meditate, etc. Their attitude is that if God wishes
me to realize, I will realize. In these people, there is too
much thamas guna. They should do some action, some
service to society and proper spiritual prayer and
practice with yearning for more nearness to God. And
there are many types of devotees in between these two
extremes. I pay attention to all who pray to Me and
yearn for God. A certain commitment, intensity,
regularity and purity are required to progress toward
Atmic realization without ego coming in the way. All for
now.

My Dear Devotees, difficult times are ahead. Be

forewarned. For those who know themselves as Atma,
there should be no worry. Hold fast to your Divine Self

and do your best with regard to trying external

conditions. It will all pass in the blink of an eye and a new
better world will be born. You are in it and must go along
for the ride however bumpy it may be. You really need
very little to live a comfortable natural lifestyle. Be
willing to share with those who need the basics to live,
and continue with your sadhana (spiritual practices)
always. I am with you; call on Me. There is much help
from the other side much love and light to inspire and
uplift.
What should you do to be ready for the uncertainty and

upheaval? Store items that you truly need for at least six
months. Have some cash and gold/silver coins at home.
Remove your money from the stock market sell your
shares. Remove your money from banks. None of these
places are completely safe. If you do these things, you
will feel you have done your best to look after yourself
and others who may need your help. If you dont do
anything, you may panic if external conditions change
rapidly and you have no recourse to your savings and
investments which disappeared into thin air, so to speak.
So what does this have to do with Self-realization?

Nothing really. But you do have a physical body, a mind
and emotions, and the peace and health of these
instruments needs to be safe guarded so spiritual
practice can go on unimpeded. Of course, Atma is
untouched, unaffected. But until you are fully That, you
must protect the sapling of your blossoming Divinity. No
one knows how quickly events may take a negative turn;

so be prepared. There are many different scenarios that

may play out, but once the ball starts rolling in that
direction, the cards will fall quickly. So do not waste any
time; prepare yourselves. Join a group of like-minded
people who will support one another through the rough
times. Do not fear; I am with you and this is an
inevitable part of the drama enacted to purify the minds
of humans, bring them back to God and make life on
earth peaceful and harmonious for most of its
inhabitants.

My Dear Devotees, it is time to take to the spiritual path

in earnest. No more dilly dallying; there is no time for
this anymore. The time is fast approaching when you will
need all the perseverance, peace, equanimity and
fortitude you can muster as the world will be going
through difficult times. So take to your spiritual practice
with enhanced dedication and vigor. There will be much
help needed by those in distress who have not reached
your level of awareness and stability. Be absolutely firm
in your Atmic nature from this moment forward. Do not
allow the world to cause you to react. Remain steadfast
in the peace and equanimity you have worked so hard to
acquire. Why am I telling you this? So you will not be
thrown off balance by any outer condition in the world.
So your inner life remains calm, peaceful in the Atmic

state. Only then will you see clearly, and hear guidance
within what to do, when, and how.
The greater fears and strife among the worlds people

are only going to increase during the next few years as
the old ways, the institutions that are dysfunctional and
no longer serve the people crumble and are replaced by
new ways that are based on ethics and the human values
of Truth, Righteousness, Love, Peace and Non-violence.
Before this happens, there will be upheaval and
uncertainty due to financial institutions crumbling,
governments falling, and storms wreaking havoc and
panic in the minds of the masses. You, My devotees are
to help in whatever capacities you deem right for you.
You know your capabilities by this time. If not, take a
look at all your talents, gifts, resources, and training and
determine how you can best serve the society. Do
spontaneous right action in the moment prompted by
the Divine in your heart and mind. Be selfless. Know that
you are Atma that gives expecting nothing in return. Of
course, if something comes without you asking as a
result of Grace, take it graciously and offer it to the
indwelling Divine. You can pass it on to the needy if you
wish. I accepted many gifts but never kept them for
Myself. Now the Trust has converted them into money
to purchase what is needed for the uplift of humanity.
Remember you are here on earth to efface your ego,

your sense of me and mine and I am the body.
Remember this when you are in the world. All eyes,
ears, hands, and feet are His, including yours. Be in the

world as the Divine Atma, allowing and knowing God is

working through the body to achieve the best possible
result wherever you happen to be, in whatever
circumstance and place. Ask Me to think, speak, feel,
love and act through you on a regular basis. This is true
surrender. In this manner, much will be achieved. Your
life will indeed be My message.

My Dear Devotees, here we are again together, two

minds joined as one. Close your eyes and feel the
oneness of Being, of Existence and Awareness that we
are. It is beyond body identification. It is free and
infinite. Though you carry a name and I carry a name,
both for the purpose of identification, it is superficial. I
am God and you are God. This is our true identity and
the source of our Oneness. When you forget this, you
are lost in confusion and delusion.
What more can I tell you, My Dear Ones? Practice,

practice, practice until you realize and even then you will
be devoted. Your whole life will be an offering to the
Divine. The ascended Masters, the Archangels, all the
greatest Spiritual Beings still offer everything to the
Divine in the sense that they know they do not do, there
is no personal, the One God is the One Force that does
every action. They are all co-creators with God. If the
creation is true, good and beautiful and furthers the

Cosmic Plan and does not deviate from Cosmic Law, it is

allowed. All the great ones know this and act in
accordance with the Great Plan.
You may wonder about free will once one is God-

realized. There is some free will, but only that will that is
in accordance with Gods will is allowed and followed.
One must be extremely careful not to violate any Divine
Law as there are consequences. Yes, even in the higher
levels of ascension, care is taken. So continue to refine
your awareness of all that is going on within you. Root
out any and all impurities in thoughts, words, actions,
vision, hearing etc. Always see, hear, speak, think and
do what is pure, pleasing, kind, caring, helpful and so on.
Hear what is holy and good, see what is pure and sacred.
Definitely turn away from negativity, violence and
untruth. So do not watch the negative news or
newspapers or such kind of movies. At this stage, you
must protect your consciousness, your mind and
intellect. Sometimes it is necessary to speak sternly, but
not often. I am not saying to never speak with sternness.
Sometimes the occasion demands it. But it is better to
avoid people and not speak to them, to show them that
you do not entertain any form of negativity. Beings who
live in the higher planes have perfected themselves and
never go backwards. They are One with God in His love
and bliss and in this state are completely fulfilled.

My Dear Devotees, how much I love you, you will never

know. How can anyone fathom the depths of the ocean
of Existence? It is filled with love and it is all for you for
the taking. But there arent many takers. Jivatmas are
seemingly content with their smallness, caught in an
illusion of their own making due to ignorance or
darkness. They are caught in a dream projected by their
minds. Most do not look inward to find Truth. They are
lost to this Truth that would set them free in God. My
task has been to foster Truth, Righteousness (Dharma),
Peace, Love and Non-violence in the world and show
them how to return to Oneness in God. Yes, the Truth
shall set you free. Truth is not to be found in the
phenomenal world of objects. It is inside the spiritual
heart. Here is where the mind must be laid to rest,
devoid of attachment to anything except Truth. Seek this
Self, this Consciousness, Existence, Bliss, Love and
remain there, abide there. Let the world do what it
does. Do the activity that you must do, dedicating it to
God, the only Truth as long as you have a body and must
interact with others, and be involved in some duties and
work. Keep the name of God ever on your lips.
Remember Him in your heart constantly. Dedicate your
life to Him. This is essential to know Oneness and be that
Oneness.
Surrender everything you think you are to God. Ask Him

everyday to think through you, feel through, speak
through you, act through you and love through you

every moment. Feel, and think that nothing is yours;

everything belongs to God, came out of Him, is sustained
by Him and will return to Him. Take your pet for
example; that soul is God. God caused it to be embodied.
Gods creativity created the form and nature of a cat or
dog. Gods energy and intelligence formed the fertilized
cell into all animals with the help of food and water
which are also God. It is God who will dissolve the animal
body, move the energy out and care for the soul.
So who are you? The I am is God. The name and form

are false. The peculiar ways of each individual, their
differences, came about as a result of genetics,
conditioning by society and family, samskaras brought
forth from past lives, level of intelligence, character
traits from past births and more. All this makes for
differences in human beings but is not Truth. It is the
indwelling Atmic power that has allowed all the various
propensities to develop in human life and thus provide
all the variations one perceives in nature.

My Dear Ones, let us discuss today the meaning of Self-

realization. When you realize the Self, what do you get?
First of all you get peace, unruffled peace. The world is
perceived as a dream; you see that every mind is
projecting its own subjective dream based on its
conditioning, and its past karmas which have contributed

to the conditioning. Some may see the world as beautiful

and good, whereas others see the world as ugly and
negative. Some have pure vision and some have
polluted vision. Those who have pure vision would see
the world as God, as Being, Awareness and Bliss. They
would see all the actions, the words, the people and
things as God; His lower Self participating in the dream.
By His lower Self, I mean the combination of energy or
shakti and the five elements and their derivatives.
Element earth, for example, is composed of many
different elements such as iron, calcium, magnesium,
and so on, which comprise the human body. So a person
with pure vision has realized that all is the Lord without
exception, even the phenomenal world. The mental
projections on to the world are made up by the deluded
mind, the impure mind, and like a dream have no true
existence. Though the dream during sleep seems real
enough when the mind is watching and participating in
it, when one awakens it vanishes. So too when a pure
mind awakens to Sat Chit Ananda, Being, Awareness,
Bliss permeating everywhere, the world consisting of the
conditioned minds projections fades into the
background. The world as viewed by the ordinary human
is seen as the reality, the Truth, so he reacts from his
conditioning, gets embroiled in it, attached to it, fights
with it, tries to impose peace upon it, and has all kinds of
interactions with it both positive and negative. The
world is as it is, and will always be a dream projected
by the unenlightened mind. So peace is seeing Existence,
Consciousness, Bliss, and living in It as It is with no need
to react. Maintain your peace at all times; never give it

up. You may respond but never react. As a Self-realized

Being, you live in Peace, goodwill, compassion,
equanimity, and help others who are interested to attain
the same state.

What else does Self-realization give you? It gives true

knowledge and vision. You know what is Truth and what
is not Truth. You abide as that Truth that never changes.
What is it like? You are peaceful, detached from what is
false, i.e. the dream. You know it is a dream. For
example, someone is very upset with a certain politician,
what he has said, his ideas which are selfish and favor a
select few. You as a Self-realized being, know that this
reaction comes from certain beliefs this person has, that
are different from the ones that the politician is
expressing, perhaps beliefs about what is fair and just.
The politician is also speaking from his conditioning, his
beliefs. Though yours may be nobler than his, still you
are caught in the dream, believing it to be reality. You
have lost your peace. If you could see the world through
the eyes of Atma, you would know the proper action to
take or to not take. Your peace would remain unruffled.
Seeing that most people are acting and reacting due to
their ego conditioning, you remain detached an
observer. There are times when you may choose to take
beneficial action, to pray and to will.

For most of you, the task at hand is to see your own

conditioning and let it go. This is a long process. It does
not happen overnight. See where you are still caught in
the dream, reacting unconsciously and let go of the
belief, conviction, judgment and negativity that
prompted the reaction. A Master does not react
unconsciously; a Master acts from Divine Source, from
the wisdom and knowledge that Truth is always Truth
and what is false can never be True.

Lets us begin today by discussing another aspect of Self-

realization. It is the nature of peace. I have said that
peace is of the mind. What do I mean? That no matter
what may come onto the surface of the mind, it does not
stick or stay. It passes by quickly. You may or may not
note it. You know yourself as that peace and calm of
Atma so deeply that mind is and can no longer be
problematic. As clouds, planes and birds pass through
the sky, the sky is untouched, unperturbed; so too the
Self is unperturbed, if and when thoughts, impulses,
feelings and so on, pass by. You reside as yourself, the
Atma. However, you may use the mind and intellect
when you need to. They are there as your instruments
and you may take them up at any time and use them.
For example, if a devotee asks a question, a Master may
use words to explain a subtle spiritual concept. Many
times when a Master speaks from Pure Awareness, the

knowledge comes directly from Atma bypassing the

mind and intellect.
The role of the devotee is to cultivate this peace. How?

Through detachment from desire and worldly things. By
maintaining equanimity with the help of discernment.
When you know what is false, why to be disturbed and
react? So, using discernment or buddhi/intellect, keep a
mental stance of equanimity no matter what happens.
This takes a lot of practice. Especially when someone
you love passes on. See that it is your attachment and
ignorance mainly that has disturbed your equanimity.
All things that come into existence pass away. So do not
get much attached to them. Be attached to the eternal
Atma and be One. Be attached to the five great values
Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love and Non-violence.
That type of attachment will serve you well for all time.
Even if you are thrown off balance for a short time, be

vigilant and get back to equanimity as soon as possible.
See all as Gods play. He is coming and going in all the
forms that enter the stage of life and then leave. Yet He
never comes and goes; He is always present everywhere.
This is the great mystery of life. You may ask, How can
it be so? I will explain in the next episode.

When I say that God is moving and unmoving (fixed),

what do I mean? I will explain. You see bodies, many
bodies, of humans, animals, plants and so on coming and
going continuously. And it is the Atma that is the true
existence, consciousness within and around them, even
though in most humans, it is the ego that lays claim to
this. So what happens when a form leaves the earth
plane? What happens to the Atma? Nothing happens to
the Atma. It remains the same, unchanged,
unperturbed. What happens when a human or animal
dies is that the physical form goes back to the elements
of which is was composed, and the mind and vital carry
on for some time with an etheric form. Remember,
ether is not Atma, it is material. After some period of
time spent in this form in another dimension, it will
thereafter discard most of it, and the essence will
incarnate into another new body. Atma will again be the
vivifying life-giving existence consciousness force for this
new form. The existing vasanas, samskaras and karma
will play out along with the seed form of the mind and
intellect from previous incarnations.
So you can see that nothing ever happens to Atma. It is

there as the basis for the continuing existence of all
forms until they realize Atma as the Truth. The Atma
seems to move in all the forms but this is illusion. What
moves are the forms using Divine energy and thought.
Atma is not broken up into many jivatmas, as many
think. Atma is always One. It is the mind that has created

the walls between forms thinking them all to be

absolutely separate. These minds do not see the One
Atma everywhere as the support and basis for the world
because it cognized and experienced through the mind
and senses.
You may be wondering how this can be so, that the Atma
can be unchanging and constant, yet bodies animated by
Atma during earth life leave this Atma when the body
drops. I will explain. The Atma is the subtlest material in
existence. This is how it is all pervasive. It is subtler than
mind, intellect, akasha (ether) and all the other major
elements: water, fire, air and earth. When a person or
animal dies, what leaves to go to another more subtle
dimension is the etheric body which is itself invisible to
the physical eyes. Along with the etheric body goes the
mental, intellectual and vital bodies which are a subtle
replica of the person as they were in earth life before the
death of their physical forms. Even the etheric form
resembles the earthly form. Many beings when they pass
on, do not even realize they have passed on until it
dawns on them that they have, and life is different in
many ways in the new dimension in which they now find
themselves. So there is no death as many on earth
believe to be so. It is an etheric material body that
continues for awhile then gets dissolved; the mind with
the help of its guides prepares to enter a new body for
further experience and evolution.

You must know now that you are the unchanging Self
that has no alteration whatsoever. It has no coming and
going as it is all pervasive at all times. So how could it
leave the body at the time of physical death and go
somewhere else? Not possible. It is not the Atma that
leaves the body, it is a faint replica with mind and vital
attached, until these also drop off in preparation for a
new incarnation. So you may ask, what incarnates into a
new body? Many say it is the soul. What is the soul in
this context? What enters the new body is a very
condensed form of the mind containing the tendencies
accumulated from past lives along with programming for
the present lifes journey. The Atma Shakti empowers
this life form allowing mind, intellect, and vital to
operate and perform their functions. It all happens
automatically. Of course the brain is there to help the
process along so that the impulses are received through
the senses and go to the mind to be interpreted,
recorded etc.
So you can see that the Atma is above the incarnation

yet integral to it. It is the consciousness behind the
incarnation yet integral to its existence. You may ask
how is it that Atma is integral to the physical matter
incarnation and not to the after physical death being,
that moves away to another dimension? I will explain.
You see, during the physical earth life phenomena called
an individual person, it is always the Atma that is the
Truth, the reality of the so called person or individual.

And Atma is pure existence, awareness, the most subtle.

Energy comes together to fashion the mind, vital and
physical body. The physical body is mainly atoms so you
can say it is comprised of energy. So the entire so called
physical life of an individual is composed of energy with
Atma as the basis, the eternal unchanging existence
consciousness, awareness.
From physical life to life, the essence of the energy form

that inhabited, identified with and gained experience,
was carried forth in atoms. These atoms comprise part of
the energy body of the soul that enters a new physical
body. This stored information in the form of atoms
determines to a large extent, the next episode of
experience for the jiva or soul.
So what is soul here? It is a false entity. How could it
be true as it keeps on changing? But the Truth is there
as the vivifying Atma within and around the false
appearance call soul.

So what has to be realized is Atma and the false left.

What do I mean by left? The false is to be seen as
having no existential reality it comes and goes. Even
though a Self-realized One may have a body, he knows
he is not the body. He witnesses it as different from the
Atma. He IS. Until realization is won, it takes constant

discernment between Truth and untruth. So that Truth is

firmly present and abiding, and untruth is mentally left.
If the mind is allowed to roam in the fields of untruth
whenever it pleases, realization of Atma will be retarded.
So discernment involves constant pulling away of the
mind from the material world when there are no valid
reasons for it to be there. Keep your mind in God
consciousness as much as possible, remembering the
name of God. A trained mind is a great ally and a useful
instrument. An untrained mind is capable of setting the
entire house on fire, burning down what you spent years
building. So always be on guard, watching the thoughts,
feelings, being aware of vasanas that may try to take
hold of the mind/emotions as they were used to doing in
the past. Do not allow the senses to experience
everything. Discern what to feed the senses what is
good, true, beautiful and pure. Then the purified mind
will be able to assimilate to Divine Consciousness.
Beware of the temptations that ordinary worldly people

fall prey to. Ask yourself whether you really need it, want
it, can afford it without going into debt. Ask yourself
whether it will enhance the path to Self-realization or be
detrimental. Will it take and waste time? Some hobbies
and material interests just waste precious time and do
not move you along the spiritual path. The senses, mind
and ego enjoy; but who is really enjoying? Many stay
stuck during many births and progress little or not at all.
So curtail desires until they are all eliminated except for
desire for Self-realization. Even that desire will go by and

by as one realizes the Self and sees that the one

desiring is a false entity.
Many of My devotees, though they may have money, are

no longer interested in expensive dinners in restaurants,
shiny new expensive cars, large homes, lavish vacations
and so on. The happiness, joy, and bliss are within not
outside. A simple life suffices for true devotees.
Devotees do not want the mind to be mentally burdened
with heavy responsibilities, many details, busy from
morning to evening. Less luggage, more comfort, ease in
life. It is My hope that you understand and heed My
words in order to cultivate and reveal your peace and
bliss.

For the most part, I see that My true devotees are

making very good progress toward Atmic realization and
liberation. However, there is a large number of My
devotees who are content with the status quo, family
life, job, some seva and prayer; but there is no real
enthusiasm to merge with Me. I am a God. There is still
a distance in their minds. They are leaving everything up
to Me even their liberation. This is not right. More self
effort must be made. Liberation does not drop from the
sky. Such devotees must make more effort to discern
Truth from untruth and get detached from untruth in
their minds. They must spend more time in

contemplation, concentration and meditation. They

must root out all unnecessary thoughts and feelings.
There is still much sadhana to be done as well as letting
go of hankering after the fruit or result of actions. Do the
needed actions or work to the best of your abilities, that
is enough. I will look after the results and/or absolve you
from further karmas. So continue to practice all the
yogas; karma, jnana, bhakti and raja yoga. They all have
their usefulness helping you to shed ego sense, purifying
your consciousness, etc.
It saddens Me when I see My devotees wasting precious

time in idle pursuits when more spiritual practice is
needed. This time in history is a great opportunity to
progress to realize God and be liberated from the cycle
of birth and death. See God in everyone you meet, in
every animal and plant. If you cannot as yet, spend more
time in bhajan and meditation; looking inward, chanting
Gods name(s). Pray intensely for Divine help to realize
Atma. Ask to be showered with Grace and Light as you
sit for meditation and contemplation. Be earnest and
sincere in your seeking and you will succeed. Think of
God every moment. Dedicate your life to God to be His
instrument. Know that God loves you, His Child, always.
You be the embodiment of this love, cultivate it within
you until it becomes natural for you, an integral part of
you. Then it will be easy for you and God to merge as
One Atma. I am watching, waiting, helping you to
progress to Atmic realization. You put in all the effort
you can, directing your mind, feelings and actions to God
in every moment, seeing God within the body, in the

spiritual heart. You are full of His Consciousness/Energy.

Be the witness and the love that you are. This will please
Me greatly.

My Dear Devotees, how much I love you, you can never

know. You are My extensions, My parts, as fingers to a
hand. And many of you are coming to realize your
Oneness in Atma with Me. As you merge with Me, the
Supreme Paramatma, your ecstasy, your love and bliss of
Being will grow. I am the embodiment of Supreme Love.
Everything has come out of Me and exists in Me, so has
my nature as Being, Awareness, and Bliss. Soon many of
you will be in ecstatic bliss with Me, but know it as
yourself. Many of you are already experiencing that you
are the Love and Bliss of Atma. I know you all and what
you are experiencing as I am the Truth of you all.
My Dear Ones, there has been much talk about there

being many creators, creating universes, and this is true.
I wish you to understand and know that I, Sathya Sai
Baba, am not the only Creator of Universes. There are
many others who are doing the same. As you evolve to
greater awareness, you will know about these matters.
There is no need for you to know the details at this time.
It has come to My attention that many of you have no

idea about the nature of the universe, the Divine Laws

governing the Universe, and the hierarchical levels of

great beings who are in charge of the many aspects of
running the universe. It would be good for you to know
these things in order to expand your knowledge as your
missions on earth also grow and expand. Some of you
have large missions to spiritually uplift humanity through
writing, lecturing, healing and giving workshops
throughout the world. When you pass to the other side,
you will continue to serve in some aspect related to what
you are doing now. You will also learn how to enhance
your knowledge and abilities to serve. So it behooves
you to seek knowledge about how the Divine Plan of the
Hierarchy for planet earth works, and all that is involved
including who the prominent beings are who are running
the show, so to speak. As you move into higher levels of
ascension, you will be called upon to assist according to
your capacity and training. So liberation from rebirth is a
stepping stone and also a major accomplishment. It is
not the end. I suggest you seek knowledge about all the
spiritual initiations evolving human beings must pass
through on planet earth before ascending into Light
Body and thus becoming immortalized. As you gain this
knowledge, you will have a clearer perspective as to
where you will focus your attention in order to serve
according to your capabilities and gifts.

My Dear Devotees and others who may be reading these

talks; know that it is the One God in all the names and
forms attributed to God who is the basis and support of
all that Is. God is All-That-Is. There is none other but
God. How can I say this, you ask? What about all the
evil in the world, can that be God? Yes, it is the lowest
aspect of God, the most deluded aspect that has allowed
itself to become mired in delusion and illusion, far from
awareness of its true Divine Self. Nothing is outside of
God. Everything is within God, subject to Gods Laws. Evil
developed from free will and illusion. Evil is a gross
misuse of Divine Energy and Consciousness by the one
who is deluded. All parts of God will be redeemed
sooner or later. There is no eternal damnation for any
aspect of Creation. So rest assured that there will come a
time when the earth will be a much more peaceful,
harmonious, just place to be as more souls wakeup to
the Truth that there is only God and all that seems to be
so menacing and fearful in the world was never truly
there. As the Divine Light penetrates earth more and
more, the lower energies are being transformed into
higher energies of Love, Peace, Righteousness, Truth and
Non-violence. These values will continue to grow and
spread in many human beings present on earth. The
so-called evil will evaporate like fog before the Sun as
the Light transforms and purifies everything it touches
injustice, violence, hate and anger will disappear from
the earth. This is part of the Divine Plan for earth and its
inhabitants. Nothing can stop this Plan. Conditions will

become very difficult for many who are still not open
and ready for this great change. They will have to come
along willingly or leave the planet. There is really no
choice any more to hold onto the old ways of injustice,
gross inequalities, massive corporate greed and deceit,
hoarding, violence and hate. It all has to go to make way
for a new paradigm of living in cooperation, respect,
kindness, sharing, seeing all as connected to one another
in the One God. When you know you are God and all are
God, the change will be easier for you. The Fatherhood
of God and brotherhood of man will be heralded and
recognized by almost all living in the new earth. So
watch, wait and be prepared for the upcoming changes.
Those of you who are waiting in anticipation for this
change to occur will be gratified to see old, useless and
worn out structures breaking down and replaced with
new structures that do support Righteousness for all. Do
not fear. Hold fast to the feet of the Lord, follow His
Teachings and guidance in the heart and you will be
protected always.

My Dear Devotees, here we are together connecting as

the One Atma. How joyous, how lovely to commune in
this way, sharing love and knowledge. I wish to tell you
that there will be many more books through this, My
Channel, Catherine. She is most willing to continue to
serve Me and My devotees in this and other ways.

Though she is sometimes not certain whether she or I

am speaking, I wish to assure her that We are One now,
so there is no need to wonder about this any longer. As
these talks on moving toward God-realization draw to an
end, there are yet a few more aspects I wish to discuss
and share with you.
I wish to remind you how dear you are to Me and to all

the enlightenedbeings who also are responsibleforandare
actively participating in the Great Plan of Evolution on
planet earth. Your dedication to the spiritual path, to
your mission and your ascension is greatly appreciated
by all who know you. I say all, but do not be confused by
this word, all. There is only One God having many
facets like those on a diamond. That is what you are, a
pure shining Light of Pure Awareness/energy, holding a
facet of Gods Glory, yet one with all of It.
This splendor and glory that you are will be revealed to

your awareness at the right time as your awareness
grows and expands. Expansion of awareness is part of
the Plan; it is bound to happen. It is a quiet unfoldment
controlled by the Divine Forces. As you give your utmost
attention and dedication to this Path of unfoldment, the
unfoldment quickens and all knowledge and power is
gradually made available to those who have shown their
capacity, responsibility and dedication to use it wisely
and properly in alignment with the Divine Plan which will
be revealed. So it behooves you to remain dedicated to
your opening and to serving the Divine Plan as best you
can, sublimating your ego, giving up all doubt that would

cast derision towards the Path Divine. Be attached to the

Truth and you will never go wrong. I am here to guide
you at all times. Simply ask to join with Me and then ask
for guidance. Hopefully by this time, you will be able to
hear Me in the silence of the heart or feel My message
for you.
This is a time of accelerated ascension. Do take

advantage of it. It will not come again like this for long,
long time. I bless you that you succeed in your
aspirations for the highest levels of ascension you are
capable of experiencing in the coming years.

My Dear Devotees, please take My words to heart; that

is the way they will benefit you most. The heart needs to
be opened wide so the blessings will flow forth to the
world and raise it up to Heaven.
Today we will discuss the need for vigilance, constant

vigilance. You never know when some event, someones
words, some inner saboteur, or some negative energy
may try to, or come up, to throw you off your guard or
seek to push your energy down. So be alert and be
prepared. Tests will come your way also to test your
spiritual strength, to see if you can stay the course of
peace, equanimity, and purity of thoughts, words and
actions in the face of disturbances. There may be inner

vasanas, or unhealed energies within that may surface

and try to throw you off. Be prepared; have a strategy.
Tell yourself that no matter what energies surface in the
outer and inner landscapes, you will remain firm as the
Mighty I Am Presence, the Atma, the Witness, in Peace
and Equanimity. That life is a flow of energy patterns.
That nothing needs to remain stuck. All will move and
change and pass away. You be the unaffected witness.
Practice this so it becomes part of who you are. You are
the embodiment of Love and Light. Feel that any
negative elements when encircled with your love and
light will become transformed into benign energies. Do
not fear. Fear lowers your vibration. Use the love and
light that you are to protect yourself as well as transform
lower energies and situations into neutral ones. Call for
extra Divine assistance whenever needed and it will be
there.
So I am asking you not be too complacent even though

you have attained a level of Atmic realization. The dark
forces despise the light. You keep on shining with
positive virtues and values, living a pure life, full of
prayer, devotion, dedication and selfless service. Your
path will be full of grace. Never worry or fear when you
have joined with the Lord, but be ever vigilant.

Dear Devotees, the time has come to tell you that I will
be taking a new body very soon. This year in fact. I know
it may come as a surprise to many of you. Do not think
that because I will enter a new body that My power and
Presence for you will be diminished in any way. No, not
at all. I am and always will be fully available to all
devotees who call on the name of Sathya Sai Baba as
their God and Satguru.
I have decided to take a physical form earlier because

My devotees are calling for Me and the world needs Me.
As it will take some time for this body to grow and
mature, I am starting earlier than originally proposed. So
I ask My Devotees to continue with the service activities
and all the spiritual work they are doing to purify and
raise themselves to the Divine levels. This makes Me
very happy to see My devotees progressing in this way. I
am very, very proud and pleased with the way My
students, teachers, and devotees are running My affairs
in Prashanti Nilayam, in India and abroad. Most are
putting their all into serving Me and the Sathya Sai
Organization. I am very, very pleased with the devotion
and selfless service. This is one reason I am returning
very soon to keep the momentum of these great
endeavors going strong. Knowing I have taken a physical
form again will increase the aspiration and dedication in
devotees minds and propel them even faster toward
Atmic realization. The more enlightened beings there are
on the planet, the faster the planet and its inhabitants

will ascend to higher levels of Divine Manifestation,

creating the Heaven on Earth, the Golden Age.
I feel very happy, elated, that I will again be among you,

My Beloved Devotees. Though the form may look
different, I am the same Divine Presence you knew as
Sathya Sai Baba. I hope you will recognize Me. I tell you,
you will know Me in physical form as much as you know
Me now in your heart. So continue with your meditation
and other practices to find Me in the Heart, then you will
definitely recognize Me in the form of Prema Sai Baba.
The time is at hand when the world will know that the
Lord of the Universe is walking on earth. Many will come
to have a glimpse, a darshan, and be uplifted far beyond
their imaginations.

As I have said, I am returning very soon to earth again. I

see the excitement in you as you read these words. Yes,
it is true. Many, many will see the advent of Prema Sai
Baba as the Second Coming as prophesized in their
Scriptures. The Second Coming is synonymous with
Being reborn into Divine Atmic consciousness. All will
have an opportunity to realize and manifest Atmic
consciousness during the Advent of Prema Sai Baba. My
love will be known and talked about in all corners of this
world and other worlds as well. My Advent will be a time
of great jubilation. More and more people will decide to

live in love and harmony, bringing about a rise in the

consciousness of this planet to the fifth dimension. All of
you, My devotees, will have a specific role to perform as
My helpers, to bring about this Heaven on Earth.
So it behooves you not to be so attached to the form of

Sathya Sai that you refuse to move toward Prema Sai.
That is what happened to many devotees of the Shirdi
Sai form. They refused to see Me in the Sathya Sai form
and so missed out on the darshan and other blessings
from the form of Sathya Sai. However, such devotees
progressed nevertheless, due to their ardent devotion to
the Shirdi Sai form, leading to the formless Atma.
You may wonder what will happen to the beautiful

ashram at Prashanti Nilayam. Will Sai devotees continue
to visit and derive spiritual sustenance there when
Prema Sai Baba has incarnated? Yes, definitely. My
Presence will continue to be very strong in Prashanti
Nilayam. It will never diminish. How lucky and blessed
you are and will be to have two sources of Mighty Divine
Presence to visit on planet Earth; Prashanti Nilayam as
well as the abode of Prema Sai Baba. One will be more
peaceful and the other more hectic as more and more
devotees flock to the abode of Prema Sai Baba Avatar. I
wished to tell you these things to make you happy and to
encourage you to remain on the Divine Path doing your
very best to attain Self-realization and Manifestation.

My Dear Devotees, here we are again mind to mind as

you read My Words. I do hope you have enjoyed and
benefitted from My Words given to you with great love. I
am always ready to speak to those whose hearts are
pure and who desire to hear My Words and feel My
Love. Yes, I will speak to you again and again through
My Dear channel, Catherine, who is ever ready to serve
Me and be My Instrument on earth. She is very pure
hearted, sincere and loving. She carries the Christ
consciousness, the Sai consciousness, the Atmic
consciousness -all are the same, within her heart and
mind and radiates it wherever she goes. She is a big help
to Me in My Mission. There are many, many devotees
who are a big help to Me in My Mission, each possessing
unique gifts and capacities. They have offered,
surrendered themselves to Me, the Divine, and have the
perfected character and qualities required to be of use
to the Divine. It is My hope that more and more
devotees will rise to the occasion, purify and perfect
their instruments of mind, intellect, vital and physical as
well as open their hearts to the Atmic Presence so they
too may be used by God to assist in the manifestation of
the Divine Plan on earth. Whenever you think you are
ready to do this, offer yourself sincerely and completely
to God. You cannot imagine how much you will benefit
from such a surrender and offering. You will be gradually
lifted up to the highest levels of ascension as Light Beings
and become embodiments of Peace, Love, Light, Bliss
and Power. There is no greater happiness than this- to

join with God in Oneness; with His wondrous qualities

and expansion. Take a leap of faith and trust and let go
of small petty matters that serve no purpose. Embrace a
greater ideal, a greater life in Divine Splendor. This is the
vision I hold for you and encourage you to move into.
Trust in Me, hold My Hand, and receive My Guidance
and Inspiration as you move into Beingness with Me.
There is nothing to fear. On the contrary, all your fears
and worries will melt before the Splendor of the Light
Divine.

As I bring our talks to a close, I have just a few more

words to share with you. As you may have noticed, I put
