This document discusses the differences between an injection point and a mixing point in a piping system. An injection point is where a small additive is introduced into a larger process stream, such as adding corrosion inhibitors. A mixing point is where two different process streams meet, which requires additional design considerations due to potential deterioration from differences in composition, temperature, or other parameters between the mixing streams.

Location where water, steam, chemical or process additives are
introduced into the process stream at relatively low flow/volume rates as compared to the flow/volume rate of the parent stream. Eg:- Corrosion inhibitors, neutralizing amines, caustic solution, wash water, etc.
MIXING POINT
Location in a piping system where 2 or more stream meets. The
difference in streams may be composition, temperatures or any other parameter that may cause deterioration and may require additional design considerations, operating limits, inspection and/or process monitoring.
