II. Conceptual framework of health education

Elements of teachinglearning process

>Learner- This element represents the one who wants to learn or the one who
needs to learn.

A learner has cognitive faculties (5 senses, instinct , imagination, memory,

intellect) and appetitive faculties (feelings, emotions, rational will) that they use to
further enhance their knowledge gathering. Each and every student differs in some
elements such as ability, interests, culture and attitude that can affect their
learning process, this a problem that the teacher must address to maximize
learning.

>Teacher- This element represents the persons that are qualified to give education
to the learners.

A teacher must undergo the required training (i.e. 4-5 years training and
LET). A teacher must possess certain attitudes like equality, passion, patience and
enthusiasm because this attitudes will promote the learning experience of the
learners inside the classroom.

>Curriculum- This element symbolizes the plan made to be followed by the teacher
to maximize the learning process and be efficient on the time spent on one session.

>Environment- This element represents the overall surroundings of the learner and
teacher.

The environment consists of the arrangement of furniture, temperature and

the quality of the equipment used in the teaching process. These factors might be
small but this affects the overall exchange between the teacher and learner.
Outcomes of teaching and learning process

>Change- this outcome is brought about by the knowledge that came from the
teaching learning process. It can be bad or good depending on how the receiver
used the information he/gained through the learning experience. It has three types

+ Physical- the change in how a person moves.

+ Psychological- The change in how a person think about things in his/her

surrounding

+Emotional- The change in a persons feeling on a certain topic

>Enhanced Schema- This outcome is natural to a teaching-learning process

because both sides learns something from both sides. The teacher learns different
strategies of teaching from the feed back of the students. The learners acquire the
knowledge imparted by their teacher.

Filipino Health value system

The Filipino health system is divided into two groups:

-Private
-Public

Public Healthcare is under the control of the government (DOH). It aims to provide
cheap but quality healthcare to the public. But public hospitals has a lot problems
that affects the quality of their services like Corruption, shortage of doctors,
shortage of funds and the large population of the country.

Private healthcare is under the supervision of private owners but still abides the law
promulgated by the republic. Some private hospitals are better than public hospitals
but are more expensive so it is not accessible to everyone.

Levels of healthcare facilities

>Primary- Barangay centers which can provide basic medical needs.

>Secondary- Hospitals that can provide patients with the healthcare for more
advanced illnesses

>Tertiary- Hospitals that can provide healthcare and treatment for those people who
needs special procedures or tests.
