LARGE BATCHES.
The high torque is very effective in handling
low-viscosity fluids in large batches that are

beyond the range of direct drive units. Soft
drink bottlers, for example, use ND mixers
widely for making up syrup in batches ranging
from 300 to 6000 gallons.
FOUNDRIES.
These heavy-duty workhorses prepare sand for
cores and molds. They mix various washes.
They assist circulation of fluids in metal
quenching. You'll even find them working in
molten metal to help fluxes remove impurities.
DAIRIES.
Lightnin high flow portables prevent rising of
cream in storage tanks. They maintain

Lightnin high speed, high shear mixers

FOR HIGH FLUID SHEAR.
Direct drive portables are preferred where high
fluid shear is desirable and for small batch
mixing.
Soft drink bottlers, for example, use high
shear models for mixing syrup in quantities
under 300 gallons, but go to high flow drives
for larger volumes.

Lightnin air drives
They operate wherever compressed air is available. On vehicles, in

the field, in lab or factory.
Lightnin air-driven mixers are safe for use in flammable or explosive
environments. No heat build-up. Motor operates spark free.
Speeds can be varied by means of the air control valve. Impossible
to burn out the motor, even with a stalling overload. Light weight
makes for easy handling.

Set the speed, and these mixers hold that speed, despite changes in loading. Within
1 % for integral hp., within 5% for fractional hp. You can accurately vary the speed,
and accurately repeat the speed to optimize mixing for:
Changing viscosity, batch to batch. Pilot plant studies.
Varying liquid levels. Multiple step processing.
Aeration requirements. Reduced agitation during drainage.
Separate speed control mounts by mixer or remotely to save the operator steps.

NEW LIGHTNIN SUPER MOTOR.
Figure 27. Operate at any voltage between 200 and 480 (at 60 Hz). At
50 Hz, any voltage between 190 and 440. No waiting weeks or
months for special voltage mixers. We have one type of motor that
spans this wide range of 3-phase service:
Available in 1/3, 11/2, and 3 hp sizes. Fractional hp super motors
have Class B insulation. Integral units , have Class F. All carry 1.15
service factor. Can be used without concern at altitudes up to 9900
feet.

This series finds greatest use on storage tanks. The mixer

sweeps the tank bottom, maintaining suspension for varying
levels of stored materials.
Side entering mixers are also used where there simply isn't
