Dear Secretary of State Cegavske,

The Nevada Republican Party would like to inquire as to whether a political party
committee, when the chairman of the organization is also an elected official, would
also be subject to the fundraising prohibition as stated in NRS 294A.300?

The Chairman of a political party committee is the head of the organization and
would be the one accepting these contributions, whether these contributions are
raised via another person, online, through committee transfers, a fundraising
committee, etc.

If this type of behavior is allowed, we are worried that it would pave the way for
legislators to establish political action committees where they serve as chairman
and have political allies raise money for them during the blackout periods
established by NRS.

We appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and look forward to your
response.

Respectfully,

Greg Bailor
Executive Director
Nevada Republican Party
