1CLKG

The CLKG is the clock generation board in the iHLR

system. CLKG is in the hot active/standby mode. The
active and standby CLKGs are locked to the same
reference to implement smooth change over. CLKG
adopts a measure to filter out phase jitters or burrs of the
clock during the change over.
The CLKG communicates with the main processing unit
through RS485. At the same time, it uses the clock
reference 8 KHz frame synchronization signal from the
trunk SPB, or 2 MHz/2 Mbits signal from the BITS
system.

Part2 Signaling FEP Hardware

ZXWN iHLR requires only one pair of clock generation

boards (CLKG). The CLKG boards are in the active and
standby mode and are inserted in slots 13 and 14 of the
control Sub-Rack. The corresponding back boards are
called RCKG.

2MPx86

MPx86 can be used as an OMP, RPU, signaling

MP or service MP. The OMP and RPU are on the
same MP board. OMP uses the first CPU on
MPx86 and RPU the second. The signaling MP
and service MP are called SMPs.
On MPx86 board, there are two sets of CPU
systems. They are respectively called CPU_A and
CPU_B. The two CPU systems are independent of
each other. CPU_A is the main control, managing
circuit boards.

Part2 Signaling FEP Hardware

The OMP controls the operation and maintenance

(including the operation and maintenance agent) of the
whole system and is connected with the OMC through a
100M Ethernet interface for isolation of internal and
external network segments.
The RPU is responsible for maintaining routing tables for
all the NEs.
The SMP processes signaling from various interfaces,
including narrow band No.7 signaling (MTP3, SCCP,
TCAP and MAP) and SIGTRAN signaling (SCTP,
M3UA).

3MNIC

The MNIC can be used as a USI or IPI interface unit. For

this at least two MNIC cards have to be configured. They
work in the 1+1 backup or load sharing mode.

Part2 Signaling FEP Hardware

When the MNIC is used as an IPI board, it provides an FE

interface and processes SIGTRAN bottom-layer signaling.
It forwards IP packets. It forwards the SCTP packets
received from the IP network to the signaling MP for
processing. After receiving routing packets, the IPI board
forwards them to the RPU. The routing table is maintained
by the RPU.
The USI board is a universal server interface board. The
service processing MP communicates with the database
server through the USI board for storing user data.

Part2 Signaling FEP Hardware

4UIMC
UIMC
The UIMC manages the control Sub-Rack and
implements Ethernet level-2 switching inside the
control Sub-Rack. It provides two 24+2 switched Hubs.
It provides the clock-driven function inside resource Sub-
Racks. After the phase lock and drive, the input clock
signals will be distributed to various slots in resource Sub-
Racks.
It provides the function of reading cabinet numbers, Sub-
Rack numbers, slot numbers, equipment numbers,
backplane version numbers and backplane type numbers.

5SPB

If HLR need to be connected with PSTN ,SPB can be

used to provide E1 interface
The SPB circuit board provides 16 E1 interfaces, four
CPU-based communication processing units
The SPB board supports 64K and 2M signaling links. It
supports a maximum of four 2M signaling links or one
hundred and twenty eight 64K signaling links.

7PWRD

PWRD distributes isolates and backs up two channels of

48 V power supply in the iHLR system, and monitors
the power supply, cabinets and environment. The power
supply part includes the EMC filtering design, lightning
protection design and isolation design of the power
input/output end.

Part3 Subscriber Database System

Database principle

The database is divided two parts, one is application database

and the othe is memory database .
Both application database and memory database are used.
Thus, the application database serves as the reliable backup of
subscriber data while the memory database ensures the data
access performance of large-capacity system.
Minicomputer servser is often adopted, such as IBM
minicomputer,HP minicomputer.

Part3 Subscriber Database System

The local service handling console (iHLR Agent) provides the

man-machine operation platform for subscriber management.

The service handling server (DBIO Server) receives the

request from iHLR Agent and the remote service handling
request from the iHLR interface machine. It send the message s
of queries, adds, deletes and modifies to . Database.

iHLR interface machine (Interface Processor) provides the

open interface for upper NMC and enables the BOSS system to
access the ZXWN iHLR system. After receiving the service
handling request, the Interface Processor makes service
operations through the DBIO Server.
