The State Governor Jose Natividad Gonzalez Paras, took the oath of office to sev
eral officials who already occupy new positions in the state administration, inc
luding Luis Treviño Chapa. In the Multipurpose Hall of the Government Palace, th
e Head of State appointed him as Executive Director of the Tourist Development C
orporation of Nuevo Leon. Treviño Chapa, highlighted the work of his predecessor
, Jorge Cantu Valderrama, who wish him every success and reiterated his responsi
bility for the State Government's commitment to further consolidate the work so
far has been done. He said that will synergies with sector associations and step
up the promotion of the tourist attractions of the States in the region and the
United States.€Chapa Treviño holds a degree in Marketing from the Technological
Institute of Superior Studies in Monterrey and was Director of Marketing for th
e CODETUR, where he created marketing programs in Mexico, North America and Euro

New Agenda
Launch campaign Sum Monterrey Nuevo Leon
The tourism industry of Nuevo Leon launched the program called Monterrey / Nuevo
Leon Sum, by means of which the State Government through the Tourism Developmen
t Corporation and tourism providers have developed this project with tangible be
nefits and promotion savings in the economy of our visitors. During the year we
expect to achieve economic spills over 200 million pesos in benefit of the secto
r, derived from this first stage, involving more than 90 companies and 23 hotels
and will start on March 9 to June 30 2009, which will be held by a credit card
promotions and discounts. Governor Jose Natividad Gonzalez Paras, led the presen
tation of the "Nuevo Leon Sum, a pioneer in the country, which was developed by
the CODETUR with service providers of the entity, as a measure to address the ef
fects of global crisis and continue to attract tourism to our State. The program
is being promoted widely in the domestic markets and South Texas, with an inves
tment of 4 million in advertising by the Corporation and the Tourism Board of Me
xico. Gonzalez Paras said that his Government will leave everything ready for th
e next administration to carry out the project of what will be the Paseo Santa L
ucia II, which will focus primarily a tourist attraction. The event was attended
by Miguel Angel Gonzalez Cantu, President of the Mexican Association of Hotels

Medical Tourism Congress Announces Health and
Authorities of the Ministry of Economic Development in the State announced the F
irst Congress of Medical Tourism and Health Tourism in Latin America, to be held
from 27 to 29 April this year in our city. Jesus Guerrero Ricardo Silva, Direct
or of Specialized Medical Services Council, said this conference is organized by
the alliance between the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) for its initials in
English and Monterrey City of Health. In turn Colorado Guillermo Gándara, Direct
or of Industrial Development and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economic Dev
elopment, noted that Monterrey is known as one of the premier destinations for m
edical tourism in Latin America, to have several hospitals recognized by the JCI
, and is the home to one of the first "health cities" around the world.
The congress was attended by 400 participants from 25 countries, focusing on the
high quality of health care and advanced medical technology in Latin America.

Hospital CIMA Monterrey International receives JCI accreditation
CIMA Monterrey accordance with its vision of being the network of health service
s more reliable and higher quality international JCI opened its doors for credit
under their standards. Achieving the only hospital in Monterrey belonging to th
e only international network of JCI-certified hospital in Mexico and Costa Rica.
Thanks to the sustained excellence since its inception in 1996, the Hospital CI
MA Monterrey was recently recognized by the Joint Commission International (JCI)
with the International Accreditation Standards for Hospital Quality in Patient
Care and Organizational Management. The JCI is the global governing maximum hosp
ital quality accreditations and CIMA Hospital is the only one in the country est
ablished under the latest version of the rules of the institution, issued in 200
8, and considerably more rigorous and complex than previous versions, where join

th care (eg hospitals) to determine if they meet quality standards and safety an
d continuous improvement of its processes, through the delivery of a document of
ficial. To achieve and maintain accreditation, the institutions of health care m
ust undergo a thorough review by a team of professionals from JCI for 4 days and
at least every three years. It is important to mention that the standard editio
n of JCI was renewed in 2008 by adding over 50 new standards for the level of de

OCA Hospital obtained Joint Commission International Accreditation 2008 version
This certification body OCA Hospital gave the distinctive Gold Seal of Approval,
which endorses it as a medical institution that has successfully fulfilled the
norms and standards of this new version. With this major achievement OCA Hospita
l adds one more international accreditation and becomes the hospital with the hi
ghest number of certifications, awards and national awards. Since 2003, the Hosp
ital certified its processes with the international standard ISO 9001:2000, bein
g the first hospital in Latin America to do it. This began an era of continuous

Create new concept of travel agency: agency-school
In determining that the IRH is the leading institution in the generation of exec
utives for Tourism and Travel; Echevilla Group partnered with the Institute of H
ospitality Regiomontanus opened the first travel agency in the country under the
agency-school concept called " The Travel Company-IRH ", in which students in a

The Museum of the Northeast was awarded the Prix Miguel Covarrubias 2008 in the
field of museum and museum research, given annually by the National Institute of
Anthropology and History in a ceremony at the National Museum of Anthropology i
n Mexico City. A year after its inauguration, the work developed by Red Bank at
the Museum of the Northeast, received honorable mention in the category of Plann
ing and Project Open to the Public Museum, the team is led by the teacher Ofelia
together with Alejandro Martinez Aguilar, Gerardo Daniel Zanabria and Portillo.

Artist Carlos Alberto Bravo Garza, the exhibition consists of 24 monumental phot
ographs mounted on the top of the Arcade Cintermex shows landscapes, amazing bui
ldings and monuments that position our state as a major international tourist de
stination. The exhibition area is over 6 thousand 500 square meters and consists
of images of the Paseo Santa Lucía, Santiago, Nuevo León, Pueblo Magico, Laguna
Labradors in Galeana, Macroplaza, Hacienda del Muerto in Mina, Cascada Velo de
Novia Zaragoza, La Lagartera de Toledo, El Caballo de Botero and the Palacio Mun
icipal de Linares. The pieces are printed on plastic canvas to high definition,
with the same techniques used by large advertisements. The images are taken on a
technique, based on a software that enhances the colors "is the world's largest

Bernardo Reyes arrives at the MUNE
Highly filled with an exhibition history, comes the exhibition "While the others
go their way, Bernardo Reyes, tell me your story," which brings together over 3
00 objects associated with General Bernardo Reyes and historical context that wi
ll allow an intimate knowledge the character through books, letters, documents a
nd personal belongings, but also show visitors the different aspects of social,
economic and cultural development of Mexico from the late nineteenth and early t
wentieth centuries. The installation was curated by Eliseo Garza Salinas and Cla
udia Avila, the museology was made by Sergio Rodriguez and the research of Dr. O
ctavio Herrera. "While the others go their way, Bernardo Reyes, tell me your sto
ry" will be shown on MUNE until March 15, 2009 and April 2009 will be presented
at the National Museum of History, Chapultepec Castle, along the exhibition, pub
lished a catalog of the same. Exposure occurs in the context of two significant
events for Nuevo Leon: the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the building
of the Government Palace, built at the behest of General Reyes, and the start of
work to commemorate the Bicentennial of Independence and the Centennial of the
Revolution.

Who was Bernardo Reyes in Nuevo Leon? He was interim governor of Nuevo León from
1885 to 1887, and Governor from 1889 to 1900.€Asked permission to absent himsel

ar and Navy in Mexico City, later resigned and returned as governor from 1902 to

PIXAR 20 Years
animation
For anyone who loves good stories, comes to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Mo
nterrey exhibition Pixar: Twenty years of animation with more than 500 pieces in
various techniques and formats. To celebrate the first two decades of Pixar Ani
mation Studios, was organized this exhibition which brings together hundreds of
pieces, all created with extraordinary technical and artistic quality, without w
hich the computer animation is not possible. Drawings, models, sculptures and di
gital prints have been presented since 2005, thanks to Pixar and the Barbican Ar
t Gallery in London in the United States, England, Japan, Scotland, Australia, F
inland and Korea. From memorable films like Luxo Jr. (1986), whose main characte
r took the company logo, to recent films like Wall-E (2008), are shown in cinema
s for MARCO in a way that no extra DVD material could do so. Also, this world pr
emiere a selection of works from the movie Up, same to be released in U.S. in la
te May. The exhibition features sections devoted to creating stories, characters
, worlds and colorscripts designed to have an overview of the setting of the fil
m. There is also a zoetrope (zoetrope) with pictures of Toy Story, various proje
ctions and interactive kiosks.

With the unveiling of his sculpture, the matador originating in Guadalupe Nuevo
León and the exhibition "Memories of 42 years of a Torero to Puerta Grande", the
State Government paid a deserved tribute to Eloy Cavazos, who has made major ta
sks of bullfighting. At the site, Governor Jose Natividad Gonzalez Paras Matador
referred to as a model citizen, a Nuevo Leon has meant for many people the valu
es of effort, hard work, discipline, and courage to overcome the art of bullfigh
ting. "42 years ago, here Eloy Cavazos said he cut his first ear in the Monument

in a single day, has given 62 alternatives and has made more runs in a year.

at the Museum of Popular Culture
Photographer's wrestling, Rosalie Vera is being presented in the Museum's collec
tion of images of wrestling in Mexico, where they assist the Directorate of CONA
RTE Popular Culture, the National Institute of Fine Arts, the Department of Popu
lar Culture CONACULTA and José María Velasco Gallery Vera is a teacher of photog
raphy exemplary record in terms of wrestling involved. He has over twenty five y
ears experience in the photographic work. She has studied in various schools in
the United States, on product photography, architecture, cuisine and fashion. In
this exhibition there was a brief selection of his extensive work in the study,
illustrating the evolution of the poses and attitudes of these athletes. As a p
hotographer specializing and after his constant interaction with them, Rosalie i
s positioned as one of the essential agents for the definition of the fighters a
s characters.€Then with a fixation of the key moments, we glimpse the photograph
er that allows us to interpret the symbolic amalgam established between the figh
ters, the public and the media. The angles, framing and capturing expressions, m
agnify the act so that not only the wrestlers become all idols, beyond sports, b
ut enables the measurement to the public as their fans and the arena itself as a
place of worship setting to Fight Like a postmodern ritual of catharsis and fas
cination, which we all belong to the long, forming a whole performative act itse

International Year of Astronomy
400 years ago, an amateur astronomer said an optical gadget to the stars and cha
nged forever the perception of the man in the universe that surrounds him. Drive
n by curiosity, Galileo Galilei used his rudimentary telescope to discover that
Jupiter was accompanied by an entourage of stars, the moon has an imperfect and
pockmarked surface, the Sun have spots and turns, that Venus shows phases like t
he Moon Saturn has a strange structure that the Milky Way is made up of many sta
rs. For this reason, UNESCO, the UN and IAU (International Astronomical Union) h
as taken the initiative to designate 2009 as International Year of Astronomy. Th
us the astronomical community, amateur and professionals around the world held i
n over 100 countries, activities for the dissemination of this fascinating scien
ce. Alfa Planetarium, a Science Center with a great tradition locally and nation
ally, and its Astronomical Society have joined forces to raise awareness of the

Railway Museum
It was inaugurated on October 3, 1997, and under the Council for Culture and the
Arts of Nuevo Leon, the museum is installed in the east wing of the English sty
le building built in 1891, to serve as station and administrative offices the im
portant railway line from Monterrey to the Mexican Gulf, later known as Gulf Sta
tion, being the port of Tampico one of its terminals. Today this historic buildi
ng houses since 1973, the Casa de la Cultura de Nuevo Leon. The permanent exhibi
tion GULF STATION is composed of objects as tools: drills, forge, levels, nails,
plus signs, including photographs showing the rail workers performing their tas
ks. Also meet the characters who made the railroad came to our city for the firs
t time in August 1882 from Laredo, Tamps. The objects were donated by the compan
y National Railways of Mexico while they were finalizing the activities of passe
nger trains in our city. The museum hosts year-round school visits, mainly from
pre-school education, those who like to start a film suitable for their age, con
tinuing to tour the museum and ending the visit up the caboose Ndem located on t

How about if you come with me through the imagination south of the state? Since
Monterrey, we are on the motorway, we have traveled about 205 km We head to one

Bustamante Caves

Also known as the Palmetto Caves are located in the Sierra de Gums, 110 kilomete
rs from Monterrey and six kilometers southeast of the capital of the municipalit
y of San Miguel de Bustamante. The Sierra de Rubber covers the northwestern part
of the state, Bustamante across the municipality and on the south to the valley

l of the 1st. Chili's Gourmet Chef Competition Contest, held in Monterrey. The c

nd to promote among them the knowledge of the rich cuisine of the southwestern U
nited States, had the initial participation of 40 teams of two members, from ren
owned universities and schools as ESDAI the CESSA, the Culinary Institute of Mon
terrey, Universidad Regiomontana, ASPIC the Culinary Institute and the College o
f Food, among others. Of the recipes entered, only 10 (five in the category of e
ntry and 5 in the Main Dish category) made it through to the final stage, after
being evaluated on the basis of the criteria for submission and To serve, taste,
originality and authenticity the recipe, devotion to flavor and presentation ty
pical Chili's. Each winning team received a cash prize of $ 10,000, dinner for f
our people at Chili's, a Filipino and a certificate, and the inclusion of his re

competition-workshop aims to create awareness and promote responsibility in wai

Legacy of Knowledge
The Historical Vision of Nuevo Leon
To learn more about the history of our state?, The Collection "'History in the C
ity of Knowledge" collects 12 examples in a series of writings that range from v
arious historical periods of Nuevo Leon, and their geographic transformations. T
he collaboration between the Fondo Editorial Nuevo León and the Ministry of Educ
ation made possible the emergence of these books that support the humanist view
of the strategic projects of the State Government. The collection was made possi
ble by the coordination that occurred with the Council for the Culture and Arts
of Nuevo León, the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo León, ITESM, the Council of Sci
ence and Technology and the authors themselves. For this research we started fro
m a geographical re-reading a historical studies, economic and cultural Nuevo Le

or. The director of the Fondo Editorial de Nuevo Leon, Carolina Farias, said man
