Tips for group discussion.

Time- 10 minutes most probably.

Keep it professional and no fish market at all. The topics will be general topics or current affairs.

Tips for personal interview:

- Resume- be thorough and clear on whatever you have mentioned.


- Average time 10 mins but it might vary from 4 minutes to 20 minutes as well.
- Candidate with no work experience might get basic subject questions from graduation.
- Why consulting will be very common question. Explain it with the context of the given profiles.
- Gk based questions might be asked.

Summer internship related tips:

- Locations were Calcutta, Mumbai and Gurgaon last year


- One of the projects was on Power Transmission n distributionUDAY yojna by govt. of India
(analyze between two distribution companies)
- Chilled out culture but deadlines matter
- Most of the seniors and colleagues will be alumni from XIMB
- Airfare will be provided. Almost no travelling while doing internship
- Another project done by one of the seniors was Bangladesh power sector analysis

Question and Answers:

1. Will we be asked questions from 1st term MBA?

Ans. No, might come from graduation. Favorite subject or stream may be.

2. Options from oil n gas n energy. Why did you select consulting?

Ans. Do research on the sectors to tackle this question. Relevant sector current affairs to show your
interest.

3. What was the number of shortlists last year?

Ans. 27+ 25 depends on the profile options open. Last year the profiles were different.

4. What can they ask from graduation subjects in PI?

Ans. simple things about graduation courses and they might ask favorite subject as well. Fresher
candidate can expect them else work ex related and how you relate with consulting. Extra-curricular
might be asked.

GD tips:

- Groups of ten
- General topics will be provided but the pattern is ever changing. For example, the 14-16 batch
had case based discussion.
- Maintain Flow while you speak. Fluency in communication is often judged.
- 2 panels were there in last year.

PI tips:

- Again, be thorough on your CV.


- Knowing about the company. Values, revenues, recent developments and news will help a lot.
- Time of PI is unpredictable. Last year it varied from 2 minutes to 40 minutes.

1. What do you think was the Shortlisting criteria?

Ans. online test.

2. What profile do they look for in cv. / Profiles they generally look for to select?

Ans. It depends on candidate and varies from CV to CV. They have selected fresher, work experience
in SCM, work experience in IT etc. So it can be anything. Depends completely on them as we have
seen from last two years.

3. What is the nature of the job in internship?

Ans. B2B sales most of the times. Below is one instance of an intern who worked at Hyderabad.

- Database and leads were given one need to pitch the products and services of HSBC in front of
them. This might include doing cold calls, meetings, and finding out needs to analyze and then
pitch accordingly. Suggesting new ideas as well.

4. Will the ask Banking n finance question in pi / will they ask 1st term MBA questions?

Ans. No. but might ask for sales pitch which is very rare.
