Getting younger people into self-advocacy

Provide training around being a self-advocate

and being a rep
Going out to colleges and schools. Talk to
young people about self-advocacy
 Invite young people to attend meetings to see
what happens
Find young people who want a role as a
leader (rep) other young people would
speak to the rep to put their views across
Hand the baton over give young people the
opportunity to take on roles like Chair
Accept that young peoples issues might be
different
Hand over the knowledge and skills of older
self-advocates to younger people
Do fun activities that young people are
interested in use this to introduce self-
advocacy
Realise that many young people live on social
media and will have really good skills in using
these

We want the voice of people with learning

disabilities to still be heard

For now emails seem to be the easy way
