PUBLIC NOTICE
NIOS is conducting Public Examinations twice in a year i.e. October
and April, respectively in the entire length and breadth of the
country. In order to facilitate the learners to deposit admission and
examination fee, NIOS has introduced the system of submission of
the same through online process using its web portal
www.nios.ac.in.
Instances have come to notice wherein some agents / fake
agencies are influencing upon schools for getting the accreditation
done from NIOS for establishment of Study Centre as also for
setting up of Examination Centres for conduct of NIOS
Examinations. It is brought to the notice of all concerned that NIOS
has neither engaged / authorized any agent nor agency for the
purpose.
In order to pay the Admission / Examination fee, the learner has
also the option to submit his / her fee (admission as well as
examination) through offline mode by depositing the same through
Regional Centre, Accredited Institution (AI) or Accredited
Vocational Institution (AVI) or NIOS. No cash transaction is to be
made through any of the AI/AVI/Regional Centre.
Instances have also come to the notice of the authorities whereby
learners are being cheated by overcharging illegitimate fees
through unauthorized Agencies/Coaching Institutes. Instance has
come to notice recently of an institute called NIOS India with,
www.niosindia.com as its website address. Three more
institutions viz. Rural Institute of Open Schooling, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi
(www.rios.ac.in), All India Council of Open Schooling, North
Pargana, West Bengal (www.aicos.org) & Council of Open
Schooling, New Delhi (www.cosindia.in) have also activated their
websites. The said organizations use almost similar names and
claim to conduct Board Examinations equivalent to class Xth and
XIIth. In this context it is clarified that NIOS has no link with the said
institutions. It is further brought to the notice of the learners / parents
and general public at large that NIOS has neither engaged any
Agencies nor any coaching Institution for the purpose of Admission/
Accreditation etc. NIOS has not authorized these institutions
mentioned above to undertake the work on behalf of NIOS.
In view of this, NIOS will also not be responsible for any excess
payment towards Admission, Examination or any other fee and for
approaching unauthorized agencies/institutions for any other
purposes. Learners are therefore advised to submit the
Admission/Examination Fee, either through the Online process
through NIOS web portal www.nios.ac.in or through the Regional
Centre/Accredited Institution (AI), Accredited Vocational Institution
(AVI) of NIOS only, for timely credit of fee.

centres are available on the NIOS website www.nios.ac.in.

PUBLIC NOTICE

NIOS STARTS ON-LINE ADMISSION THROUGHOUT THE YEAR (24X7)

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous and registered organization
established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India with the
prime objective to offer academic courses at Secondary and Sr. Secondary levels, including
Vocational & Technical Education, and Open Basic Education at three levels (A, B & C)
equivalent to Class III, V, & VIII for those who are above 14+ in age. It also provides
professional advice to the Government of India and to the States regarding the proper
development of Open and Distance Learning System at the School level. Ministry of Human
Resource Department, Govt. of India has vested NIOS with the authority to register, examine
and certify student register with it upto pre-degree level courses. The Association of Indian
Universities (AIU) has granted equivalence to NIOS courses with those of other recognized
Boards for the purpose of admission to higher courses of study at Indian Universities.

The academic programmes of NIOS is offered using three tier structural system i.e (i) its Head
Quarter at NOIDA, NCT of Delhi, (ii) implementing programmes through its 14 Regional Centres
located at various states and (iii) support services through the partner institutions known as
Accredited Institutions (study centres) mostly located in the educational institutions in the
country. The institute has introduced on-line admission system to its Secondary and Sr.
Secondary courses round the year with two blocks 1st March to 31st August &
1st Sept. to 28th Feb. The students seeking admission to the NIOS courses can opt for three
alternatives for on-line admission (i) on-line admission by self (ii) with the help of NIOS
Accredited Institutions, and (iii) with the help of Regional Centres of NIOS. The list of authorized
NIOS accredited Institutions for each state and districts, and list of NIOS Regional Centres
alongwith prospectus & application form for 2010- 11 are available on the NIOS website
www.nios.ac.in . The aspiring students are advised through this Public Notice not to
approach the unauthorized centres/ individuals to seek help for their admissions. The
NIOS will not be held responsible, if they fell pray through these unauthorized centres/
agents/individuals and their admission process is not completed due to this act.
