PRAYER BEFORE AND
AFTER MEDITATION
PRAYERS BEFORE AND AFTER MEDITATION

Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle
in them the fire of Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created. And You
shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray, Father, You taught the hearts of Your faithful

people by sending them light of Your Holy Spirit. In that Spirit
give us right judgment and the joy of His comfort and guidance.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER AFTER MEDITATION

But You, O Lord, have mercy on us. Thanks be to God!

We fly to your patronage, O holy mother of God, despise not

our petition in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers. O
ever glorious and blessed Virgin.

Pray for us, O holy mother of God, that we may be made

worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray, we ask You, O Lord, through the intercession of

the Blessed Virgin Mary, to defend from all adversity this Your
family and to keep it ever faithful and dedicated to You. We ask
this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER BEFORE AND
AFTER THE MASS
PRAYER BEFORE THE MASS

Accept, most Holy Trinity, this sacrifice fulfilled one time by the
divine Word and now renewed in this altar by the hands of Your
priest. I unite myself to the intentions of Jesus Christ, priest and
victim, that I may entirely offer for Your glory and salvation of
men. I intend through Jesus Christ, with Jesus Christ and in
Jesus Christ, to adore Your eternal majesty, to thank Your
immense goodness, to satisfy our offended justice, and beseech
Your mercy for the Church, for my dear ones and for myself.

PRAYER AFTER THE MASS

Lord, Father all powerful, and ever living God, I thank You,
for even though I am a sinner, Your unprofitable servant, not
because of my worth, but in the kindness of Your mercy, You have
fed me with the precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord
Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me
condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation.
May it be a helmet of faith and shield of goodwill. May it purify me
from evil ways, and put an end to my evil passions. May it bring
charity and patience, humility and obedience, and growth in the
power to do good. May it be my strong defense against all my
enemies, visible and invisible, the perfect calming of all my evil
impulses, bodily and spiritual. May it unite me more closely to
You, the one true God, and lead me safely through death to
everlasting happiness with You. And I pray that You will lead me,
a sinner, to the banquet where You with Your Son and Holy Spirit,
are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy,
gladness without end, and perfect happiness to Your saints.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

My good and dear Jesus, I kneel before You, asking You most
earnestly to engrave upon my heart a deep and lively faith, hope
and charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm to
resolve to make amends. As I reflect upon Your five wounds and
dwell upon them with deep compassion and grief, I recall, good
Jesus, the words the prophet David spoke long ago concerning
yourself, they have pierced my hands and my feet, they have
counted all my bones!

CORONILLA OF OUR MOTHER OF CONSOLATION

This little rosary of the Blessed Virgin is intended to proclaim our faith as we
find it expressed in the Apostles Creed. We do this while calling to mind the
scene in the Cenacle when the Apostles devoted themselves to constant prater.
There were some women in their company, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and
his brothers (Acts 1: 14)

The following is a fitting way to recite the corona:

V. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
R. Amen.

After the announcement of each article of the Apostles Creed, a brief reading
taken from among the following selections of the works of St. Augustine, There
follows a brief silence, then the Our Father and Hail Mary is recited.

1. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.

From the Confessions of St. Augustine

And what is this, I asked the earth, it responded: I am not God; when I
asked the waters and the deep, they responded: We are not your God.
Look above us. When I asked the heavens, the sun, the moon, the stars:
Nor are we the God you seek, they said. To all of them I said: Speak to
me of my God. If you are not he, tell me something about him. Loudly they
exclaimed: It is he who made us. The heavens, the earth, and everything
that is in them, all these things tell me to love you.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

2. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

From the works of our Father, St. Augustine on Christian Doctrine

I am the way, the truth and the life. It is by me that you come; it is I that
you come to, and in me you remain. How do you wish to go? I am the way.
Where do you wish to go? I am the truth. Where do you wish to remain? I
am the life. Christ as God is the fatherland where we are going; Christ as
man is the way we must travel.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

3. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.

From the work of our Father Saint Augustine on Johns Gospel

Oh, incredible kindness and mercy! He was the only Son, but he did not
want to remain alone. In order that men might be born of God, God first
was born of men. He had to seek on earth only a mother, since his Father he
already had in heaven. Begotten of God is he through whom we were
created; born of a woman is he through whom we are to be recreated. The
Word first wished to be born of man, so that you might be assured of being
born of God.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

4. suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
From the work of our Father Saint Augustine on Johns Gospel

Exalted is the fatherland, humble is the way. The fatherland is the life of
Christ, his death is the way. The fatherland is above where Christ dwells
with the Father, his suffering is the way. If anyone rejects the way, how can
he seek the fatherland?

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

5. He descended into hell and on the third day he rose again.

From the Sermons of our Father Saint Augustine

Our faith is strengthened by the resurrection of Christ. The passion of

Christ represents the misery of our present life, while the resurrection of
Christ gives us a brilliant glimpse of the happiness of future life. Let us
apply ourselves energetically in the present life, and hope in the future.
Now is the time for the painful struggle; then will come the recompense.
Anyone who is lazy about carrying out his work will be brazenly impudent,
if he expects the recompense.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

6. He ascended into Heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father.

From the Sermons of our Father Saint Augustine

Wonderful is the fact that, even though he ascended above the heavens, he
remain close to those who are still living on earth. Who is this one who is so
far away and yet so near, if not he who out of merciful goodness became our
brother?

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

7. And he will come to judge the living and the dead.

From the work of our Father Saint Augustine on Johns Gospel

Believe firmly what you believe - that he will return. What does it matter
when? Prepare yourself for his coming. Put aside curiosity and develop
trusting love. What does it matter when? Love as though he was coming
today and you will not fear his coming.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

8. I believe in the Holy Spirit.

From the Sermons of our Father Saint Augustine

This excellent guest finds you empty and fills you, he finds you hungry and
thirsty and satisfies you abundantly. God the Holy Spirit, who comes from
God, when he enters into a man, draws him into the love of God and
neighbor. Indeed, he is love itself.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

9. the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints.

From the Sermons of our Father Saint Augustine

Mary gave birth to your head and the Church gave birth to you. The
Church too is a mother and a virgin mother because she is made of love,
virgin because of the integrity of her faith.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

10. The forgiveness of sins;

From the work of our Father Saint Augustine on the Discourses on the Psalms
Driven out of paradise by you, and exiled in a distant land, by myself I
cannot return, unless you come to meet me in my wandering. My return is
based on hope in your mercy during all of my earthly life. My only hope,
the only source of consolation, the only solid promise is your mercy.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

11. The Resurrection of the Body.

From the work of our Father Saint Augustine on Johns Gospel

As Christ took on what he needed to die for you, so will you take on what
you need to live with him. Where did he take on his mortality? In the
virginity of his mother. Where will you take on life? In his equality with the
Father.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

12. and life everlasting. Amen.

From the work of our Father Saint Augustine the City of God

There, we shall be at rest, and we shall see, we shall see and we shall love,
we shall love and we shall praise. The end of our desires will be he who can
be admired without end, can be loved with our being bored, can be praised
without our becoming tired.

OUR FATHER HAIL MARY

Holy Mary, Mother of the Church,
keep us true to our faith.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our
sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us;
and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V. Pray for us, holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of promises of Christ.

Let us pray. Lord Jesus Christ, Father of mercies and God of every consolation,
grant, we pray, that your faithful, who rejoice in the protection of the holy
Virgin Mary ,Mother of Consolation, may, by her motherly intercession,
be freed from all evils in this life and be worthy of coming to the eternal joy of
heaven, where you live and reign forever and ever.

R. Amen.

READINGS:

Galatians 4:4-7

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born
under the law,to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to
sonship.Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,
the Spirit who calls out,''Abba,Father. So you are no longer a slave, but Gods
child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

(Alternative:
Revelation 12:1-7

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon
under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and
cried out in painas she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in
heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven
crowns on its heads.ts tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung
them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to
give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave
birth to a son,a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron
scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman
fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be
taken care of for 1,260 days.)

me to venerate thee under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel De San

thou didst love thy dear Son, Jesus Christ.Do thou, Mother of God, who hast
such power and might, obtain for me from blessed Jesus, the Heavenly gifts of
humility, chastity, and meekness, which were the fairest ornaments of thine
Immaculate soul. Do thou grant me to be strong in the midst of the temptations
and bitterness which so often overwhelm my spirit.Aid me in every action, and

OFFERING OF THE HOUR

Priest and People: Adorable Savior, I Redeemer of the human race, we believe
that You are reallyand truly present in the Blessed Sacrament here before us. We
desire to spend this hour of adoration and meditation in offering You supreme
honor and glory and in making some small atonement for our sins and the sins
of the world. We desire also to spend this Holy Hour in thank-ing You for past
favors and graces. We wish to gain for ourselves and the holy souls in purgatory
the many indulgences attached to this devotion, and most fervently we implore
You to pour down Your blessings upon us and upon our children at home and in
foreign lands. O Jesus, while we are assembled here in Your adorable presence,
we are resolved to forget our business, our cares and anxieties; to forget the
world and all its false pleasures, and to give all our thoughts entirely to You
alone, in rendering You supreme homage and adoration, and in contemplating
Your lonely life in our tabernacles. Amen.

Priest: O Lord Jesus Christ, who has promised, that wherever two or three shall
be gatheredtogether in Your Name You will be there in the midst of them, look
down with love and compassion upon these Your children who are assembled
before You, to honor Your Sacred Heartand to make It known and loved by all.
Come into the midst of us, O sweet Jesus; fill our hearts. with your blessings
and inflame them with Your love.
Priest: O Jesus; answer our petitions as we kneel before You.
People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.
O Heart of Love, I place all my trust in You. I fear all things from my own
weakness, but I hope for all things from Your goodness.
Priest and People: O Lord Jesus Christ, who has said, "Ask and you shall
receive, seek and youshall find, knock and it shall be opened to you"; grant, we
beseech You, to us who ask the grace of Your most divine love, that with all our
hearts, words and works, we may love You, and never cease to praise You, who
live and reign world without end. Amen.
Priest: O Jesus, answer our petitions as we kneel before You.
People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.
O Heart of Love, place all my trust in You; fear all things from my own weak-
ness, but hope for all things from Your goodness.
Priest and People: O loving Savior, in-finitely generous, seeking only our in-
terests, from YourSacred Heart came those words of pleading love: "Come to
Me all you that labor and are burdened and will refresh you". Relying on this
promise of Your infinite charity, we come to You, and in the lowliness of our
hearts earnestly beg You to grant us the favor we ask in this Holy Hour.
(Requestto be made in silence.) But if what we ask is not for the glory of God or
the salvation of our souls,do grant us what is most conducive to both. Amen.
Priest: O Jesus, answer our petitions as we kneel before You.
People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.
O Heart of Love, place all my trust in You; fear all things from my own
weakness, but hope for all things from Your goodness.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
Priest and People: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I loveYou above all things, and desire to receive You into my soul.
Since cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my
heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite my-self wholly to
You; never permit me to be separated from you.
(Hymn)

SECOND QUARTER (all kneel)

Priest and People: O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many tabernacles,
without visitor orworshipper, I offer You my poor but loving heart. May its
every beating be a prayer of love forYou. You are ever watching under the sacra-
mental veil; in Your love You never sleep and are never weary of Your vigil for
sinners. O good Jesus, love You; am truly sorry for having of-fended You. O
lonely Jesus, may my heart be a lamp, the light of which shall burn and beam for
You alone. Bless me, O Jesus, come spiritually into my soul and fill my heart
with love far You. Make me, Jesus, wholly Yours. Take this wayward heart of
mine. Guide it through this valley of tears. Heart of Jesus, hear me. When draw
my part-ing breath, when my eyes shall close in death, then, sweet Jesus, be near
me. O Heart of Jesus, hear me. Watch, Sacramental Sentinel, watch for the
weary world for the erring soul, and for Your poor lonely child.

PRAYER TO THE HEART OF JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Priest and People: O Sweet Jesus, let me lay at Your Sacred feet my daily share
of joys, strugglesand sorrows, my hopes and fears;and in the stillness of Your
sanctuary, do tenderly gather them into Your Sacred Heart. Solace my doubts,
calm my fears, and grant that day by day I may become more united to You.O
Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, overflowing with gentleness,
tenderness and charity, bury in the abyss of Your mercy all my iniquities and all
my negligences. I offer You my labors and sufferings my sorrows and my mi-
series; I recommend to You my life and my death.
PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Priest: O Virgin Mary, our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, glory of the Chris-
tian people, joy ofthe universal Church, salvation of the world: pray for us, your
children who are assembled here to-night, and awaken in all the faithful
devotion to the Holy Eucharist, in order that they may render themselves worthy
to receive It daily.
Here petitions and spiritual favors may be announced,

ACT OF REPARATION
Priest and People: Divine Savior of souls With countenances covered with
confusion, weprostrate ourselves in Your sovereign presence. Our eyes turn to-
ward the solitary tabernacle where You, imprisoned, sigh for our love.
Heartbroken, we grieve at the sight o You forgotten by those whom You have
redeemed; Your Blood made void, Your sacrifices fruitless, Your love derided.
Yet, since in Your infinite condescension, You permit us tonight to unite our
sighs with Yours, our tears with the tears, which for our sake fell from those
most sacred eyes and with the drops of blood which poured out from Your
Divine Heart, we pray to You, Sweet Jesus, for those who do not pray to You;
we bless You in place of those who curse You; we adore You for those who
outrage You. With every power of our souls, in all the moments of this night,
and before all the tabernacles of the world, in union with the efficacious desires
of Your loving Heart, we wish to bless and praise You
PRAYER FOR THE DYING
Priest: O Most merciful Jesus, burning with love for souls, we pray, by the
agonies of Your mostSacred Heart and by the sorrows of Your Immaculate
Mother, to wash in Your Blood the sinners of the whole world now in their
agony and about to die this day.
People
: Amen.
Priest
: Agonizing Heart of Jesus,
People
:Have mercy on the dying.
AN ACT OF REPARATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS
Priest and People: Adorable Heart of Jesus, glowing with love for us and
inflamed with zeal forour salvation! O Heart, ever sensible of our misery and the
wretchedness to which our sins have reduced us, infinitely rich in mer-cy to heal
the wounds of our souls! Behold us humbly prostrate before You to express the
sorrow that fills our hearts for the coldness and indifference with which we have
so long requited the numberless benefits You have conferred upon us. With a
deep sense of the outrages heaped upon You by our sins and the sins of others,
we come to make a solemn reparation of ho-nor to Your Most Sacred Majesty. It
was our sins that overwhelmed Your Heart with bitterness; it was the weight of
our iniquities that pressed down Your face to the earth in the Garden of
Olivesand caused You to expire in anguish and agony on the Cross. But now,
repenting and sorrowful, we cast our selves at Your feet and implore
forgiveness.
Adorable Heart of Jesus, source of true contrition and ever merciful to the
penitent sinner, impart to our hearts the spirit of penance, and give to our eyes a
fountain of tears that we may sincerely bewail our sins, now, and for the rest of
our days. O would that we could blot them out even with our blood!
Pardon them, O Lord, in Your mercy, and pardon and convert to You all that
have committed irreverences and sacrileges against You in the Sacrament of
Your love, and thus give another proof that Your mercy is above all Your works.
Divine Jesus, with You there is mercy and plentiful redemption. De-liver us
from our sins. Accept the sincere desire we now entertain and our holy
resolution, relying on the assistance of Your grace, henceforth to be faithful to
You. And, in order to repair the sins and ingratitude by which we have grieved
Your most tender and loving Heart we are resolved in the future ever to love and
honor You in the most adorable Sacrament of the altar, where You are ever
present to hear and grant our petitions and to be the food and life of our souls.
Be, O compassionate Jesus, our mediator with Your heavenly Father whom we
have so grievously offended. Strengthen our weakness, confirm our resolutions
of amendment, and as Your Sacred Heart is our refuge and our hope when we
have sinned, so may It be the strength and support of our repentance, that
nothing in life or death may ever again separate us from You. Amen.

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS IN TIME OF TROUBLE

Priest and People: O Sacred Heart of Jesus, make us remember, when the
world is cold and dreary, and we know not where to turn for comfort, that there
is always one spot bright and cheerful - the Sanctuary. When we are in
desolation of spirit, when all who are dear to us have passed away like summer
flowers, and none are left to us or care for us, we whisper to our troubled souls
that there is one Friend who dies not, One whose love never changes, the Sacred
Heart of Jesus on the altar.
When sorrows deepen and crush us with their burden, when we look in vain for
comfort, let Your dear words come forth with full force from the tabernacle:
"Come to Me all you that labor and are heavily burdened, I and will re-fresh
you."Would that we could realize the pure happiness of receiving Your
sympathy. Would that we could feel - when we are crushed and humbled, when
the hope we have live for has withered, when sorrows and trials that we dare not
re-veal to any make our souls sink well nigh unto death; when we look in vain
for someone to understand us, one who will enter into our miseries make us
remember that there is One on the al-tar who knows every fiber of our hearts,
every sorrow, every pain special to our peculiar natures, and who deeply
sympathizes with us. Compassionate Heart of Jesus, our hearts crave for
sympathy, and to suffer seems nothing to the bitterness of suffering alone.

THE BLESSING
Priest and People: O my Jesus, fountain of inexhaustible benediction, You who
did blest the Apostles before You ascend into heaven, bless me also, and with
Your presence sanctify me. Bless my memory, that it may ever recollect You.
Bless my understanding, that it may ever think of You. Bless my will, that it
may never seek or desire that which may be displeasing to You. Bless my body
and all its actions. Bless my heart with all its affections. Bless me now and at the
hour of my death. Bless me in time and eternity, and grant that Your most sweet
blessing may be to me a pledge of eternal happiness. Bless my brethren, the
faithful. Bless my dear ones. Bless everyone love, and every-one to whom owe
any gratitude, and bring me and them to rest in Your Sacred Heart forever.
Amen.

PRAYER BEFORE BENEDICTION

Priest: O Jesus, who are about to give Your blessing to us all who are here
assembled, we humbly beseech You that it may impart to each and all of us the
special grace we need. But more than this, we ask: let Your blessings go far and
wide. Let it be felt in the souls of the afflicted who cannot come here to receive
it at Your feet. Let the weak and tempted feel its power wherever they may be.
Let the poor sinner feel its influence, arousing him to come to You. Let it cross
the seas and animate and comfort the missionary far away from home and
brethren and toiling for the love of souls so dear to Your Sacred Heart. We
humbly beg Your blessing for (here mention the name ofthe person for whom
you ask the blessing), and may it affect that salutary purpose for which O Lord,
You do so lovingly impart it.
People: Amen.
Priest and People: Jesus, my God, my King, now I must leave You, but I carry
away with me the memory of Your wounded love. It will not be long until come
to visit You. Till then, I leave my poor heart before the tabernacle. Let its every
beat tell You that I love You, and that am longing to be free to spend another
hour with You. Bless me before I go, my Jesus. Bless my home and
undertakings. Bless my dear ones, my friends, and my enemies too. Amen.
