TARGET SCHOOL
Introduction: Assessment of learning refers to strategies designed to
confirm what students know, determine, whether or not they have met
curriculum outcomes or the goals of their individualized programs, or to
certify proficiency and make decisions about students future programs or
placements.
Assessment strategy according to the following:
a. Usefulness of Assessment
- Assessment is the systematic collection, review, and use of
information about educational programs undertaken for the purpose
of improving student learning and development. We believe that
assessment in VMHS is very helpful in improving and developing the
totality of the students learning. The schools assessment is useful
in understanding how their programs are working and in
determining whether it contributes to the students growth and
development.
b. Uses of different assessment methods, tools and tasks
- We all know that every student is unique, making them acquire
learning in different manners and ways. Our target school uses
different methods, tools and tasks to give differentiated instructions
to students which are all designed to accommodate the students
needs. Their main concern is on how they can most effectively bring
about student learning using these strategies.
c. Assessing learning in different levels
- Assessing learning in different levels in VMHS seemed easy because
the school managed to use modified assessment methods and
strategies intended and suitable for every year level.
They are conducting meetings and planning which will promote
integration of learning activities and assessments in different levels

e. Portfolio making
- Portfolios are collections of students work over a period of time. It
may be used for evaluation of a students abilities and
improvement. Some teachers are still using this method into
assessing their students because they believe that it provides
evidences of what a student can actually do. Typically, a portfolio
includes evidences of learning selected by students and self-
reflections on the learning process. Some teachers are giving other
major projects or activities instead of portfolios.
