analogI/O).TheseareaddressedasX:ss.ww/bb,whereXiseitherIorO,ssistheslotnumber,wwisthewordwithin
theslot,andbbisthebit.AnexamplewouldbeI:1.1/15.Thiscouldbethelastpointofa32pointinputcard,ora
singlebitofananaloginput.NotethatI:1/15isequivilanttoI:1.0/15.

Tomakethisevenmoreconfusing,thisaddressingschemeisbasedontheold8pointcardsthattooktwocardstofilla
word.Takea16slotrack.Ifyouusedthisstyleofaddressing,itwouldbeonelogicalrack,with8groups,and2slots
pergroup.Forinstance,thefirstslotwouldbeI:000/0007,thesecondslotwouldbeI:000/1017,ifbothare8point
inputs.Thisaddressingmethodiscalled2slotaddressing,meaningittakes2physicalslotsperlogicalword.Each
physicalslotisonly1/2alogicalslot.Thisistypicallyonlyusefulifusing8pointcards,oralternating16pointinputs
andoutputsinthesamegroup,i.e.inputinfirstphysicalslotthenoutput,input,...,etc.
Singleslotaddressingmeanseachphysicalslotis16bitswide.Typicallyusedwith16pointcards.Eachphysicalslotin
arackcorresondstoalogicalgroupandbothofitslogicalslots.Ifa16slotrackisusedinthismode,itoccupies2
logicalracks.Asanexample,thefirstcardwouldbeI:000/0017,thelastcardwouldbeI:017/0017.

cangetveryconfusing,andaresetbydipswitchesontheI/OracksandRIOadaptermodules.Theeasiestsolutionwith

slot,andhalfslotaddressing,alongwithcomplementaryI/O,soitcangetalittlestrange.Butifyousticktoalllocal
I/O,theSLCsaremucheasiertoaddress.
AnalogisalsosupportedonRIOlinkswithSLCsbutisVERYslow,andabitconvolutedtouse,soifyoucanitisbest
toputanalogI/Ointhelocalrack.
