MODEL PRACTICAL EXAMINATION
EE 6512 ELECTRICAL MACHINES LABORATORY-II
Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 100
Set-1
1. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator which gives large values of
synchronous reactance.
2. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator which gives the result nearer to
the reality.
3. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator in which the regulation at
desired power factor condition can be obtained by Zero power factor method.
4. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator, if the reactance offered varies,
current drawn by the armature also varies cyclically at twice the slip frequency.
5. Determine the negative sequence and zero sequence impedance of an alternator by
conducting suitable experiment.
6. Draw power factor vs If and armature current vs If curves for a constant speed motor by
conducting a suitable experiment.
7. Determine the performance characteristics of a three phase rotating transformer for a
load in which the rotor automatically adjust itself for the number of poles as that of
stator.
8. Determine the performance characteristics of a three phase rotating transformer which
has high rotor copper loss for a load conditions.
9. Determine the load characteristics of a single phase machine which does not rotates at
rated and synchronous speed.

1. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator in which the actual load need not
be connected and suitable for high capacity alternators using synchronous impedance
method.
2. Determine the regulation characteristics of an alternator by optimistic method.
3. Predetermine the regulation of a three phase alternator using Potier Triangle Method at
half load 0.8 lagging and leading.
4. Determine the performance characteristics of an alternator, which gives the analysis of
distribution effect caused by salient pole construction.
5. Calculate the negative sequence and zero sequence impedance of an alternator by
conducting suitable experiment.
6. Draw power factor vs If and armature current vs If curves of a motor in which back emf in
the motor depend on excitation given to the flied winding and not on the speed.

3. Predetermine the regulation of a three phase alternator using Potier Triangle Method at
full load 0.8 lagging.
4. Predetermine the regulation of a salient pole alternator at various power factors by
conducting suitable test.

load in which the rotor must be wound for same number of poles as that of stator.
12. Predetermine the efficiency of a single phase rotating transformer by conducting suitable
tests.
