ON THE POTICY CONCERNING THE 6.HOURS ACTUAL TEACHING OF PUBLIC

SCHOOL TEACHERS

1. Public school teochers ore not exempt from rendering services of B

hours per work doy;

2. However, o mechonism exists ollowing teochers to render 6-hours

octuol teoching work inside the school cqmpus ond moy render the
remoining 2-hours ouiside the school for teoching reloted octivities,
provided thqt oll requiremenls of lqw ore complied with;

3. DepED Memor<rndum No.29l s. 2008 ond DepEd Order No. 16 s. 2009

cllows teochers to render 6-hours octuol teoching work inside the
school compus ond to spend the remoining 2-hours per dcy outside of
the school ccmpus io prepore qnd/or perform the following:

-lesson plons, octionlwork plons, instructionol mcteriols,

evoluotion/ossessment of rubrics; ,

-preporotion ond checking of exercises, recording of ocqdemic

performonce ond clossroom occomplishments;
-conduci of reseorch;
-ottendonce to seminors, workshops ond similor progroms;
-counseling, menioring, cooching of siudents including home
visits.
 -consultotion and conferences with porents;
-performonce of ond recognized
coordinotion octivities
communiiy sociol services; ond
-porticipotion in the improvement ond mointenonce of school
fccilities

4. The mechonism for the obove mentioned 2-hours work done by

ieochers outside the school premises sholl be ogreed by the principol
with the teochers, porents qnd studenis, preferobly through the
School Governing Council or ony estoblished mechonism for school-
com m u nity porinership;

5. To ensure ihot the 2-hours for teoching-reloted tosks ore fulfilled by

the teochers, eoch teocher sholl prepqre c Monthly Plon of Activities
to cony-out these tosks to be opproved by the school principol. The
enclosed suggested templote for the "Monthly Plon of Activities to
Perform Tecching-Reloted Tosks" mcy be used cnd

6. To oddress concerns relotive to proper entries on the Doily Time

Record, the duly opproved Monthly Plon sholl likewise be cn outhority
for teochers ofter rendering 6-hour octuol teoching to leove the
compus on officiql time.

7. lt is being clorified thot ihe ociuol teoching locd refers to the time o
teocher hos been scheduled to hold closses in o given school doy. ln
coses where closs meetings ore not scheduled on o doily bosis, the 6-
hours octuql teoching shqll be deemed fulfilled once the totcl
teoching-leorning octivities fccilitcted by the teochers totqls 30 hours
or (1.800 minutes) per week;

8. A teocher ossigned qs closs odviser or who hondles specicl

ossignments such os, but not limited io; school poper moderotor, gets
o one or more hours lood credit. A teocher cssigned to do multiple
speciol odvisorships sholl be entitled to o one-hour lood credit. This
meons thot closs cdvisers or teochers with speciol ossignments
equivclent to one {1} hour shcll focilitote tecching leorning ociivities
for S-hours per doy.

ON COMPENSATING SERVICES BEYOND OFFICIAT IIME

l. Every employee who renders service beyond the B-hour per'rdoy

requirement sholl be entitled to Compensotory Overtime Credit or
Service Credits.

 A teocher ossigned to focilitote leorning octivities beyond 6 hours
per doy sholl be entitled to service credits for every occumuloted 6
hours of ociuol tecching overlood os equivolent to one doy service
credit.

b. ln schools implementing more thon single shift, the heod ieocher or

school heod sholl render services for B hours o doy only. The
schedule of the heod teqchers sholl be set on stcggered boses.

2. Every employee required to render service during holidoys or non-

working doys sholl be grcnted Compensotory Overtime Credii lService
Credit commensurote to the octuol time service hos been rendered.
