NOTE: Be sure to include your power meters serial number in your e-mail
or have it readily available when calling technical support.
Meter identification
The meters ship with many default values already set up for the firmware installed.
To view the meter identification information, use the meter's front panel
Alarming
Allows user to configure the parameters for all alarms.
Basic Setup
User can define the power system that the meter is monitoring.
Clock
Allows user to set the date and time and time offset of the internal clock of a device
and to synchronize the date and time of the devices with the workstation.
Data Log #1
Allows user to configure the parameters for Data Log #1.
Demand Setup
User can configure the power and current demand and clock sync offset.
Device Label
Allows user to enter a label for a device.
Front Panel Display
User can change the appearance or behavior of the meter's front panel screen.

Advanced Configuration Remote
Using ION Setup to view or modify configuration data
Use Network mode in ION Setup to add and configure a power meter. See the Starting,
Logging On and Logging Off section of the ION Setup online help for more information.
I/O Configuration
Allows user to set up and configure the inputs and outputs.
Energy Pulsing
Allows user to set the values for the Energy Pulsing parameter.
I/O Setup
PM5300 series meter can accept up to two (2) digital inputs, up to two (2) digital
outputs and two relays. The PM5100 series meter single energy pulsing output.
Meter Resets
Meter values can be rest or cleared through the meter reset parameters. Resets are
grouped so that either all items listed (global reset) or individual items can be
reset (single reset). Meter initialization clears all counters
Metering Standards
Allows user to set parameters to monitor load and demand.
Multi-Tariff
Allows user to set the parameters Command mode/ Time of Day mode/ Input mode
RS-485 Base Comm

Protocol MODBUS RTU The communications format used to transmit data. The protocol
must be the same for all devices in a communications loop.
Address 1 to 247 Set the address for this device. The address must be unique for
each device in a communications loop. For Jbus protocol, set
the device ID to 255.
Baud Rate 9600, 19200, Select the speed for data transmission. The baud rate must be
the same for all devices in a communications loop.

Key Points to Remember
Normal operation - the LED flashes at a steady rate during normal operation.
Communications - the LED flash rate changes as the communications port
transmits and receives data.
If the LED flash rate does not change when data is sent from the host
computer, the power meter is not receiving requests from the host
computer.
Hardware - if the heartbeat LED remains lit and does not flash ON and OFF,
there is a hardware problem.
Perform a hard reset of the power meter (turn OFF power to the power
meter, then restore power to the power meter).
If the heartbeat LED remains lit, contact your local sales representative.
Control power and display if the heartbeat LED flashes, but the display is
blank, the display may not be functioning properly or may have timed out (see
Setting Up the Display on page 8- User Guide).
If the display is blank and the LED is not lit, verify that control power is
connected to the power meter.
