The Association has decided to organize the next Annual Dinner-2010 on Saturday, the 20
February 2010 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Souvenir-2010 and the next issue of
'FOOTPRINTS will be released on this occasion.
The 12th Annual General Meeting
The Twelfth Annual General Body Meeting of the FMS Alumni Association was held at the
GULMOHAR, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi-110003 on Saturday, the 19th September 2009,
at 7:00 PM. 39 Members were present to transact the business of the meeting. After a welcome
address by the President, the Secretary FMSAA presented the Secretary's Report on the
performance of the Association for the year 2008-2009. The present members reviewed the
accounts of the financial year 2008-2009 and made some constructive suggestions which were
well received. M/s. H. Gambhir & Co., Chartered Accountants, were appointed as auditors for
the next financial year in an honorary capacity. Prof. J.K. Mitra (the then Dean-FMS and the
Patron-FMSAA) also addressed the meeting. A 25 member Executive Committee was elected
for a term of two years. The members present re-assured their support to the Executive
Committee for all future activities of the Association. The meeting was followed by a light
musical programme, an informal get-together and dinner. The major highlight of the evening
was an enchanting light entertainment performance by FMS students and an equally pleasing
performance by a Hasya Kavi.

to be very contemporary and informative by all the present students. The students were
overjoyed listening to post-MBA 300 years of professional and personal experiences. The panel
discussions were followed by an Alumni-Student Interaction Dinner on the front lawns of FMS
where 220 people participated in the dinner get-together. The Dinner was sponsored by C S
Direkt Events and Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon.
On 30th Januray 2010, the day started with a
sumptuous breakfast of Bun-Anda, Bread Pakora,
etc. at FMS canteen. The faculty was present in
full strength alongwith the present Dean, Prof. K.
Mamkoottam and the ex-deans including Prof.
Abad Ahmad, Prof. M.M. Anand, Dr. M.P. Gupta,
Dr. A.S. Narag, Prof. V.K. Bhalla and Prof. J.K. Mitra.
The batch put together a very impressive
presentation on each and every participant.

2010 was a treat to the eyes of all present. Every participating alumnus shared their
experiences post-FMS and recalled pleasant memories of their studentship days. An
Anniversary Jersey was also released by the batch. The
meeting came to a closing at FMS with a lavish lunch,
interaction with the present batch of students, presentation
by the Placement Committee and a Group Photograph. The
participating alumni also paid tributes to two of their
batchmates who passed away during the period, i.e. Samir
Mohile and Trinath Dhavala.

On 30th evening, the batch invited all the faculty members to a dinner at Taj Mahal Hotel, New
Delhi. The dinner was attended by 8 faculty members and their spouses. Some of the spouses
of the batch members also joined for the dinner. Dean-FMS released a commemorative photo
book on the reunion containing professional and personal journey of each of the graduates
who could be contacted. The batch contributed Rs. 10,001 to CRY initiative and also presented
mementoes to the faculty members and their spouses. A Goan band played music and all
present danced to the tunes of 1985 right into the early hours of morning of 31st. All members
present vowed to stay connected in future.

That's the address of our brand new state-of-the-art website recently deployed to set up
effective communication amongst the students, the alumni, the faculty and the corporate
world. The site has been developed by Saviance Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon and
incorporates features like on-line updation of personal and professional co-ordinates, blogs,
message board, alumni-of-the-month, faculty speak, alumni speak, students events, search for
classmates, alma mater happenings and on-line buying of merchandise. The site also facilitates
on-line payments for events, merchandise and contributions. The site is likely to transform the
alumni relationship management in near future.
Family Picnic - 2009
Morning of Sunday, the 6th December, 2009 saw more than 165 FMSites and their family
members coming together at AAPNO GHAR, GURGAON for a FAMILY PICNIC to enjoy a bright
sunny morning. The children and the spouses really enjoyed the outing with free rides for the
children and a memento for every lady. Tambola, Tug-of-War, Musical Chair, Antakshri and
Performace by FMSAA members and their gifted children were the major attractions of the
event. Starting with breakfast, going through lunch and ending with high tea in the evening
took care of all the energy consumed by all present while having fun rides. Children loved the
magic and the puppet show performances. The PICNIC was a grand success. Commendable
efforts made by members Dr. Ashish K. Gupta, Mr. Rajesh Burman and Mr. Sunil Parkash
resulted in a wonderful family involvement program of FMSAA. It was full of fun and frolic. The
early birds were awarded with a lucky draw of good gifts. Those who missed this picnic did miss
a day full of enjoyment.

Dalip Sehgal appointed Managing Director of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.
Mr. Dalip Sehgal (FT-1980) has been appointed as the new Managing Director of
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. In a statement to the media, the company said
that Mr. Sehgal replaced existing CMD Mr. Adi Godrej.

Harit Nagpal: Moves to Vodafone Group, UK
Director (Marketing and New Business), Vodafone Essar, Mr. Harit Nagpal
(FT-1985) has moved to Vodafone Group, UK, in his new role in the group's
marketing function. He is based out of London. Mr Nagpal has been with
Vodafone Essar since 2001. He has 25 years of experience having worked in
various sales and marketing functions in organisations like Lakme, Marico,
Pepsi and Shoppers' Stop.
Ravish Kumar appointed EVP and GM, Star India
Mr. Ravish Kumar(FT) has been appointed Executive Vice-President and
General Manager, Star India, to oversee the regional business. Previously, he
was Global Category Director at Reckitt Benckiser, UK. Prior to Reckitt
Benckiser, where he spent close to three and half years, Kumar has worked
as Marketing Director at McCormick & Co. At STAR, he oversees the regional
channels such as STAR Jalsha, STAR Pravah and future launches.
Manoj Kohli heads Global Biz of Airtel
Adjudged as Telecom Man of the Year in 2000 by Media Transasia, Mr.
Manoj Kohli (PT-1986) has been at the helm of affairs at Bharti Airtel. With
Bharti Airtel embarking upon overseas expansion, one of the major top-level
management changes has been appointment of its present CEO Mr. Manoj
Kohli as the Head of its International Business Group. FMS is proud of its
alumni like Mr. Kohli.
Alok Bharadwaj-The 'Pride of Industry'
Or 'Pride of FMS'. Mr. Alok Bhardwaj (FT-1985), was awarded 'The CMO
Council Best CMO of the year award' in the 'Office Automation Category'.
He was also awarded the 'Pride of Industry' award during the year.
Currently, Mr. Alok Bhardwaj works with Canon India Ltd. as Senior Vice
President. He opines very candidly on his achievements, As we all work
towards achieving our tasks and cross or set milestones, we feel happy and
outside world also keeps taking note of our accomplishments. They do
appreciate our efforts that give us reason to cherish and share it amongst all of us. I owe my
success to FMS to a large extent as the conceptual framework foundation comes from there
and I appreciate this.

The FMS-CDC Consulting Initiative (TFCCI) was started in association with the Consultancy

capacity building in the consulting domain. At the inception of this partnership, an
international symposium was held with the participation of various consultants from across the
globe. Firms like Arthur D'Little, KPMG, Hewitt Associates, PwC and Ernst & Young among
others shared their views on various contemporary topics related to the consulting arena.

The EML Series is an initiative by the FMS Scholastic Council (FSC) aimed at providing a forum
for students to learn and discuss a diverse range of topics. These lectures were conducted by

PRAXIS HR & OB Society @ FMS
The HR & OB society at FMS has constantly strived to build a strong interface between the
institute and the industry by organizing various workshops and guest lectures. The Annual HR
Conclave Utkarsh'09 was designed to further this endeavor. It was a full day event with a panel
discussion on "Ownership and Management: Re-thinking Corporate Governance in 21st
Century" in the forenoon session, followed by a Workshop on"Emotional Intelligence". The
conclave was presided by eminent speakers from the industry such as Mr. Ashish Anand, Sr.
Vice President (HR), Religare Enterprises Ltd.; Mr. C.S. Raju, GM (HR), Maruti Udyog Ltd.; Mr.
Deepak Khandelwal, VP, Bank of America; Prof. Jagdeep Chhokar, Ex-IIMA Professor; Mr.
Shambunath Jha, President, Restructuring & Strategy Initiative, IOT, Infrastructure & Energy;
and Mr. P. Eshwar, DGM & Project Lead, Punjab Refinery, HPCL.
CONCLUB Consulting Club @ FMS
The Consulting Club at FMS is a student run organization with the agenda of liaising with Global
Consults to increase their presence at FMS, while working towards preparing the students for a
career in consulting. The Club serves as the nucleus for pioneering strategy games and
consulting projects and has developed an unmatched reputation for itself through innovation
in activities spanning several spheres like Management Consulting, Risk Advisory,
Process/Operations Consulting, IT Consulting, Benchmarking Advisory among others. It

TESSERACT'09, the annual consulting conclave was presided by eminent speakers from the
industry such as Mr. M.P. Singh, MD (Mining) and VP, Arcelor Mittal SA; Mr. Puneet Kalra, Senior
Principal, Monitor Group; Mr. Praveen Kumar, Senior DGM, Jindal Steel & Power; Mr. Prakash
Chandra Prabhakar, MD & Managing Partner, Q-Equip Associates India Pvt. Ltd.; Ms. Charu
Sehgal, Senior Director, Deloitte Consulting; Mr. T.R. Ramachandran, CEO, Aviva India. The
speakers shared their valuable insights through discussions on the themes: Creating Value
Through Innovation and Timing Strategic Moves.
MARKSOC - The Marketing Society
Marksoc - the Marketing Society of the Faculty organized the Annual Marketing Conclave on
Downturn and the Emergence of New Age Marketing on 13th September, 2009.
The event was organised in collaboration with MediaVest , Polo Towers being the holiday
partners of the event and Chrome being the design partner for the event. The conclave had two
sessions. Session one was on Marketing Tools in Recessionary Times . Panel consisted of Mr.
Ravi Kiran, CEO (South Asia), Starcom Mediavest Group; Mr. Sai Nagesh from Dentsu
Communication; Mr. Vivek Bali, Group President Global Brand and Marketing, Spice; Mr.

The second session was on Advertising is the answer What is the question? Panel
consisted of Mr. Vivek Sharma, CMO, Philips Electronics India Ltd; Mr. Manasvi Rasgotra,

Marketing Conclave
Markibrand'09 - The Annual Marketing Conclave of MBA (Management of Services) saw big
names from the industry come together on a common stage and share with management
students their thoughts on "Brand Loyalty-Is it dead, or Is it here to stay". The event provided
the students an industry perspective of the happenings in the marketing arena.
Finance Conclave
It was an environment of major fanfare and activity on Sunday, 13th September, 2009 when
experts from the industry came together on a common stage to dwell upon the extremely
significant topic-"Managing Economic Recovery". The speakers spoke at length about their
perspective on the crisis and offered a positive and optimistic outlook for the global financial
growth and India, in particular. The conclave was a resounding success.
