The graph below shows four countries of residence of overseas

students in Australia.

The line graph highlights information about the number of students from Asia
who studied in Australia, over an 18- year period between 1982 and 2000.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were considerable
upward trends in the number of foreign students who studied in Austalia.
Interestingly, although Indonesian students started in the later years, they
outnumbered the other 3 countries at the end of the period.
Looking at the details, the number of students in Malaysia began at
approximately 7000 in 1982, this means that they had the highest volume of
enrollees that year. Between 1983 and 1994, the figures leveled off at just
below 10000 and just finished at around 18000 in 2000.
In comparison, students in Hongkong, Singapore, and Indonesia started at
the similar level, making them the lowest number of enrollees. Both students
in Hongkong and Singapore experienced enormous fluctuations before
finishing at around 17000 in 2000. However, students in Hongkong exceeded
the other nations in 1992. As regards Indonesia, the figures increased
significantly and peaked at just below 30000 in 1998 before finishing at
approximately 23000 in 2000, making it the country with the highest number
of students recorded in the timeframe.
