The Ant And The Grasshopper

In a field one summers day a grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its
hearts content. An ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to
the nest.
Why not come and chat with me, said the grasshopper, instead of toiling and moiling in
that way?
I am helping to lay up food for the winter, said the ant, and recommend you to do the
same.
Why bother about winter? said the grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present.
The Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When the winter came the grasshopper found itself dying of hunger while it saw the ants
distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.

My Car

I have a car. It is my means of transportation. Almost everybody I go to work by car.


Therefore, Maintening the car is very crucial. It needs to be serviced regularly. Beside
servicing the engine, I have to pay attention to all the tyres.
Inside my car there are some important tools such as scissor, lead, pick, jack for wheel
alarmed. It is very important to change the tyre when it is flat. My car doesnt need to have a
nail to change a generator, a tyre compressor, a tyre changer and did all tyre lifter, but I
should check all tyres regularly before driving.

My First Experience to Ride Motorcycle

One day, when I was ten years old, my father bought an old motorcycle. That was " Honda
75". I think it was small light object and easy to ride it. I persuaded my father to teach me to
ride " Honda 75 ".
Firstly, my father refused my request and promised that he would teach me two or three
years later, but I still whimpered. Finally, my father surrendered and promised to teach me.
He began to teach me riding the motorcycle around a field in my village. My father was very
patient to give me some directions. I was very happy when I realized my ability to ride a
motorcycle. " Yes, I can ". One day later, when I was alone at home, I intended to try my
riding ability. So, myself tried bravely. All ran fluently in the beginning, but when I was
going back to my home and I passed through a narrow slippery street, I got nervous. I lost my
control and I fell to the ditch.
After that, I told my father about the last accident. I imagined my father would be angry and
never let me ride again. But the reality is exactly on the contrary, my father was very proud of
me. He just gave me some advices and since that accident, I got my father's permission to
ride motorcycle.

Komodo Dragon

Komodo dragons have thrived in the harsh climate of Indonesias Lesser Sunda Islands for
millions of years, although amazingly, their existence was unknown to humans until about
100 years ago.

Reaching 10 feet (3 meters) in length and more than 300 pounds (136 kilograms), Komodo
dragons are the heaviest lizards on Earth. They have long, flat heads with rounded snouts,
scaly skin, bowed legs, and huge, muscular tails.

As the dominant predators on the handful of islands they inhabit, they will eat almost
anything, including carrion, deer, pigs, smaller dragons, and even large water buffalo and
humans. When hunting, Komodo dragons rely on camouflage and patience, lying in wait for
passing prey. When a victim ambles by, the dragon springs, using its powerful legs, sharp
claws and serrated, shark-like teeth to eviscerate its prey.

Animals that escape the jaws of a Komodo will only feel lucky briefly. Dragon saliva teems
with over 50 strains of bacteria, and within 24 hours, the stricken creature usually dies of
blood poisoning. Dragons calmly follow an escapee for miles as the bacteria takes effect,
using their keen sense of smell to hone in on the corpse. A dragon can eat a whopping 80
percent of its body weight in a single feeding.

There is a stable population of about 3,000 to 5,000 Komodo dragons on the islands of
Komodo, Gila Motang, Rinca, and Flores. However, a dearth of egg-laying females,
poaching, human encroachment, and natural disasters has driven the species to endangered
status.

The mother is everything for us, when we were babies. Our lives depend on him. When we
need help, we call the mother crying. The mother also protect us from danger and take care of
ourselves. We must respect mother for several reasons.

First, we thank mom for all that he has done. Mothers are the ones that keep us when day and
night. He also took care of us when we are sick. He always pray for us so that we always
healthy. Mom always get up early to prepare breakfast.

Second, we need to apologise for any mistake we both realized and not realized. Weve
probably been acting rude or impolite to mother applies.

Third, we must always thanks for having had a mother. Many people who had lost his mother.
Mothers day is a time to give gifts to the mom that we love.

Monitoring Kids While Watching TV
Television becomes one of the most important devices which takes place in almost houses. It
can unite all members of the family as well as separate them. However, is it important to
know what your kids are watching? The answer is, of course, absolutely Yes and that
should be done by all parents. Television can expose things you have tried to protect the
children from, especially violence, pornography, consumerism and so on.
Recently, a study demonstrated that spending too much time on watching TV during the day
or at bedtime often cause bed-time disruption, stress, and short sleep duration.
Another research found that there is a significant relationship between the amount of time
spent for watching television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the possibility of
being aggressive.
Meanwhile, many studies have identified a relationship between kids who watch TV a lot and
being inactive and overweight.
Considering some facts mentioning above, protect your children with the following tips:
1. Limit television viewing to one-two hours each day
2. Do not allow your children to have a TV set in their own bedrooms
3. Review the rating of TV shows which your children watch
4. Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening in the show

Tsunami

The term of tsunami comes from the Japanese which means harbour ("tsu") and wave
("nami"). A tsunami is a series of waves generated when water in a lake or a sea is rapidly
displaced on a massive scale. A tsunami will be generated when the seafloor abruptly deforms
and vertically displaces the overlying water. Such large vertical movements of the earth's
crust can occur at plate boundaries. Subduction of earthquakes are particularly effective in
generating tsunami, and occur where denser oceanic plates slip under continental plates. As
the displaced water mass moves under the influence of gravity to regain its equilibrium, it
radiates across the ocean like ripples on a pond. Tsunami always bring great damage. Most of
the damage is caused by the huge mass of water behind the initial wave front, as the height
of the sea keeps rising fast and floods powerfully into the coastal area.

Landslide in Bukittinggi

Two people died while four others were wounded in a landslide at a yard behind a house
near Teleng market in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra on Tuesday.
The death people were 3-year-old Yusuf, who was the son of a kiosk owner at the market,
Bujang, and 22-year-old Meli, who was a visitor to the market. The injured were rushed to
the Achmad Muchtar and Yarsi hospitals.
Bukittinggi Deputy Mayor Ismet Amziz said Tuesday it was suspected that recent heavy
rainfall had caused the landslide.

news item text, the first paragraph is the main event. It informs the reader that a landslide
happened.
Elaboration: The second paragraph of this example of news item gives further explanation
about the main event that the two victim were 3 and 22 years old while the injured were
brought to hospitals.
Resource of information: The last paragraph is the official statement from the expert or the
authority which strengthen the news of the main event.

9. DISCUSION TEXT
Examination be Held or Not?

National Examination of any year to be a frightening specter for all people, not just student,
but parents, brothers, family. Although fact is not something that should be feared, but should
be the concern of any clutter maintenance national examination year. Did not the first time
Indonesia implement national examination, but only upon the chaos of any year. Whether it's
a technical issue or related pros and cons of national examination. When the government
arrested the strong need for the establishment of the exam, there are actually a lot of things
that should be assessed as to whether national examination should exist or not.

For people who agree, national examination is necessary for students as a requirement to
graduate from a school. People who support the national examination explain that the quality
of the Indonesia education will drop without national examination, so they try to defend the
current system. They also think that national examination can motivate students to study
harder.

However there are people who disagree with the opinion. Those who against this national
examination kept in school education say that it doesn't need the national examination
because the quality of education does not just depend on the national examination. Further,
the national examination only measure a small portion of students' competence in specific
subjects, and does not measure students' competence throughout the semester. There is also
opinion that the national examination will make the students depressed and stress. Moreover
the quality of education in Indonesia is causing uneven result national examination inequality
between urban areas with advanced education than rural areas with limited education
facilities. On the other hand society is too focused on national examination, if a child gets bad
grades when national examination does not pass, then the students would be abused and
would deprive the students' confidence. In addition to the events that occur every year when
it will be implemented nationwide exam is still chaotic distribution of matter and not timely.

In conclusion, national examination can still be useful as an instrument of evaluate or detect


the level of students' cognitive competence in several subjects, on a national scale. However,
is not fair if only national examination score that judge whether students pass or not.
Government should make a regulation that national examination is not the only requirement
for students to graduate. There should be other requirements added such as students' daily
score, behavior, and achievement.

The Amazing Spiderman 2
Introduction
I will start by saying that I am a huge fan of Spider-man. I love all the trilogies worked by
Raimi (yes, even the Spider-man 3) but I do not like the The Amazing Spiderman 1. I was
skeptical when I wanted to watch this movie, but I was wrong and I think this second sequel
is really great. Unlike its predecessor, this film is full of action, humor, and emotional. Played
by the big players, the story is well-written. The action is really spectacular and the final
scene makes me satisfied.

Evaluation 1 / Interpretation
The story begins when Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) struggled to maintain his relationship
with Gwen (Emma Stone) after her fathers death. His actions also causes the emergence of a
new enemy, Electro, a villain played by James Foxx. Peter also continue to investigate what
happened to his father and reunited with his old friend, Harry Osborn. This movie is ended by
the death of Gwen that makes the audience will be very emotional and sad.

Evaluation 2
However I have to criticize about this film addressed to Paul Giamatti who plays Rhino. His
appearance is too over. His acting also does not show that he is a feared villain. It would be a
serious problem for the next Spiderman series. So I hope he can improve his acting better
than before.

Summary
Overall, I think this is the best superhero movie since the appearance of The Dark Knight
Rises. The script is well-written and convincing. I am sure the next series will be outstanding
superhero movie. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves Spider-man or other
superhero movies.

Snake in The Bath

How would you like to find a snake in your bath? A nasty one too!
We had just moved into a new house, which had been empty for so long that everything was
in a terrible mess. Anna and I decided we would clean the bath first, so we set to, and turned
on the tap.

Suddenly to my horror, a snakes head appeared in the plug-hole. Then out slithered the rest
of his long thin body. He twisted and turned on the slippery bottom of the bath, spitting and
hissing at us.

For an instant I stood there quite paralyzed. Then I yelled for my husband, who luckily came
running and killed the snake with the handle of a broom. Anna, who was only three at the
time, was quite interested in the whole business. Indeed I had to pull her out of the way or
shed probably have leant over the bath to get a better look!

Ever since then Ive always put the plug in firmly before running the bath water.
12. Explanation:

The first paragraph: Absctract which introduces something odd briefly by asking the odd

Abu Nawas and the King Aaron
The king wanted to test Abu Nawas smartness. So he invited Abu Nawas to the palace.

The guards were not able to argue with Abu Nawas so they left Abu Nawas house and
went back to the palace. The guards reported what they had seen to the king. The king was
curious on Abu Nawas excuse not to leave the country. Therefore the king ordered his guard
to call Abu Nawas to come to the palace.
Abu Nawas came to the palace on stilts. The king wondered and said Abu, I will surely
punish you because you havent done what I have said. You have not left this country. The
King continued And now, look at you. You walk on stilts like a child. Are you crazy? The
king pretended to be furious.
I remember exactly what you said, Your Majesty Abu Nawas answered calmly. This
morning I took a bath in the small pool in my house so that I had not to step on the ground.
And since yesterday, I have been walking on this stilts. So you see, Your Majesty, I do not
step on the ground of this country. The king was not able to say anything.
