Rangoon (2017 lm)
Rangoon is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language roman-
tic war drama lm, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and pro-
duced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pic-
tures.[1][2][3][4][5] The project is a period lm set during
World War II (1939-1945) and supposedly portrays the
life and times of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia,
Bollywoods rst original stunt-woman still remembered
for her ery role in the movie Hunterwali.[6] It stars Saif
Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead
roles. The lm is scheduled for release on 24 February
2017 on the Mahashivratri weekend.[7]

2 Production
Vishal Bhardwaj was supposed to shoot the lm after
Omkara (2006).[11] However, the lm was stalled for un-
known reasons. It was previously titled Julia.[12][13] The
screenplay was written by Matthew Robbins, who previ-
ously collaborated for 7 Khoon Maaf (2011).[14][15]
The lms shooting began on 18 November 2015
in Arunachal Pradesh.[16] Many junior artists from
Manipur, Arunachal joined the crew for the rst shift. In [8]
mid January, the lms shooting was halted due to an in-
jury to Shahid Kapoor and a Japanese actor.[17] Kangana
Ranaut will be traveling to New York City to research her [9]
role,[18] and will head to an island in Mexico to learn solo
living.[19]
3 Release
The lm has been set for release on 24 February 2017.[7]
4 Soundtrack
The music for the lm is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj,
while the lyrics have been penned by Gulzar. The rst
song titled 'Bloody Hell'[20] from the movie was released
on 11 January 2017, along with the music video.[21] The
full movie soundtrack[22] was unveiled on January 18 and
it consists 12 songs in total, including the movie theme
song. The music rights are bought by T-Series.[23]
