This Stanford encyclopedia explained her work with Dr. King, her trip to Ghana and her

life there and her life after the Civil Rights Movement ended. It explained her cause of

moving to Ghana, her jobs and how she pursued writing there. Her writing is explained

and her life after, like becoming a professor and a role model for all women and African

Americans.

This book gave information on her early life as a child and teen and her achievements as

she was in that age. It told a brief story of her later years but mostly covered her early

years and her life then.


Igus, Toyomi. Book of Black Heroes: Great Women in the Struggle. Just Us. Print.

This book gave me facts about Mayas life and how she impacted others with her

actions. It taught me about her childhood and achievements later in life, like her poems

and autobiographies. This told me about her awards and other great achievements.

The website Poetry Foundation gave information on all aspects of her life, her childhood,

early adulthood, achievements, writing, and more details that helped me make my

project. They were concrete and interesting facts about her. It explains many ideas about

her life I did not get from other sources.

This webiste gave a overall in depth description of her life. It gave information on all

aspects of her life to writing to her marriages. It gave all information on her life and

This time line gave me dates so I could check my other information to make sure it

reliable. It gave me all important dates of her book releases and valuable facts about her

History.com gave me basic facts about Angelous life like her birth date, her child and

books. It was an overview of her childhood and how that affected her positively and

negatively. It skimmed through deeper facts but it allowed me to check basic facts.

The information I gathered from this website allowed to to research Maya Angelou, Dr.

King, and Malcolm X. It described her life as a child, adult and her place in the Civil RIghts

Movement. It gave information of Martin Luther KIng Jr and his work as a Civil RIghts

leader and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Also, information about

Malcolm X and his work was helpful because Maya was involved with his program,

World Book Advanced gave information about Mayas writing. It gave information about

the structure and style about how it was from African American storytelling. It explained what

Angelou was trying to weave into her writing which was humor, wisdom and old folk sayings.
