people of Flint not only bathed in the water; they cooked and drank the water. Nearly 9,000 kids
have contracted lead poisoning (Dingle 1). Lead poisoning can lead to permanently damaging
the brain. Not only does it cause mental problem but it can also cause physical problems as well.
It not only concerns Flint it concerns the whole US. What makes you think that it wouldn't
happen here in Cincinnati. Are any of us really safe. The biggest solution is to get new pipes that
can cost up to 55 million dollars (Dingle). I would rather pay to get new pipes for Flint then pay
for a wall. I strongly believe that the lead crisis is more important because instead of worrying
about things that are going on in other countries we need to focus on whats happening here in
our home country. Just like a couple of weeks ago, thousands of people rallied for the womens
march. Just like for the women we should do the same for the little city of Flint Michigan who
still to this day dont have clean drinking water. The government has done little to nothing to
clean flint's water. The main reason this topic is so important is because, if one city has bad water
that has not been changed then what if it happens to the rest of the US. How are we going to
The purpose the article The flint water crisis: whats really going on? was to address
the Flint water crisis from the chemistry point of view. Adrian Dingle has been teaching
chemistry (and chemistry alone), since 1990. Andrian Dingle, in the article, " The Flint water
crisis: What's really going on?", Dingle writes, "In the spring of 2014, large amounts of lead
found their way into the water that some residents of Flint, Mich., were using to drink, cook, and
know its a good source because it has a lot of dates (that are correct) and real quotes from the
people of flint. Safia Samee writes in the article, " Flint residents leery data showing decreased
lead levels in water". She writes, "Four officials were charged last month in connection with
water crisis. Two former Michigan state emergency managers, Darnell Earley and Gerald
Ambrose, face multiple felony charges for failing to protect Flint citizens from health hazards
My final article is Meet the mom who helped expose Flints toxic water nightmare
written by Julia Lurie. In the article, she writes written by Julia Lurie. In the article, she wrote, The results from
both investigations came back last September. Edwards' tests suggested that one in six Flint
homes had lead water levels exceeding the EPA's safety threshold.. Julia Lurie is a reporter
at Mother Jones in San Francisco whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, the Washington
A solution that many cities already use is creating a protective layer of phosphate ions on
the inside of the pipe (Dingle 1). By doing this the water comes into little to no contact at all to
lead pipe which cause less lead to come in the water system. Before Flint started getting their
water from the Flint river their water source was from Detroits water system that they just
recently went back to. Even though they changed it back still lead is in the water system that is
