We welcome you to the Terence Cardinal Cooke Huntingtons Disease Program, a 48-bed long
term care unit: one of several specialized units in the 729-bed skilled nursing facility. For your
day visit to the unit, be prepared for approximately 6 hours of short presentations and clinical
exposure, with a 45 minute lunch break. The Huntingtons disease teaching day is a required
component of the Neurology clerkship. The date will be given to you during the rotation and it is
scheduled by Terence Cardinal Cooke. It is usually the 2 nd Tuesday of the month (not rotation)
but this may vary by rotation. Student should plan on arriving by 9:15am; the scheduled
activities begin promptly at 9:30am in the Anteroom (unless otherwise notified).

Terence Cardinal Cooke is located 1249 Fifth Avenue, between 105 th and 106th streets. If arriving
by car, enter at the Madison entrance. Please be informed that the garage is no longer available
for our use. Parking is available in the lot on 107th St between 5th and Madison. Alternatively,
students may try to find street parking in the vicinity of the facility. Please ensure that you give
yourself ample time.

1. Take SPRAIN BROOK PKWY. SOUTH
2. Take the ROUTE 100 S. exit towards CENTRAL AVENUE
3. Merge onto CENTRAL PARK AVENUE
4. Merge onto I-87S-ramp on left
5. Take EXIT 3 towards 138th ST./MADISON AVE BR.
6. Stay straight to go to EXTERIOR ST.
7. EXTERIOR ST. will become MAJOR WM. DEEGAN BLVD.
8. Turn right onto 3rd Ave. BRIDGE
9. Take ramp toward LEXINGTON AVE/FDR DRIVE S.
10. Stay straight to go onto 129th St.
11. Turn left onto PARK AVE.
12. Turn right onto E. 106th St.
13. End at TERENCE CARDINAL COOKE HEALTHCARE CENTER

By the end of Specialty Day at Terence Cardinal Cooke, students will be familiar with diagnosis
and treatment of Huntingtons disease.
