In CHEM121 you learned about each individual component of a lab report and how each
element independently has a function in a scholarly article. Now you will have the
opportunity to bring every independent element together in a full lab report. Each
component should be fully consistent with the expectations described in CHEM121, but
now each component can also draw off the others to create a thorough document that
mimics all the elements of a real scholarly article.
Learning Objectives:
Identify relevant background information as it relates to the experiment, and
describe the context of the results that will be acquired
Analyze the data acquired in lab, and present it using figures that the reader can
interpret easily (including clear figure captions)
Describe the results from the figures in your own words using clear, concise
language
Use the results articulated in the data analysis section within the context of the field
of nanotechnology (learned about in CHEM102) to draw conclusions about the real-
world meaning of your lab results
Review another lab report and identify strong and weak components
Articulate your review with valuable comments
