HSLS Department Curriculum Review and
Development Retreat
January 11 and 13, 2010
The two pages following this introduction provide an agenda for the department
curriculum review and development retreat to take place over a two day period
Note that we plan a continental breakfast and lunch each day; however, this is pending
approval of expenditures for this purpose.
The personnel expected to attend the retreat are 1) AuD program faculty members and clinical
educators, 2) SLP program faculty members and clinical educators, 3) the Department Engineer
and 4) the Department Executive Secretary. Note that this includes faculty and staff members
who specialize in AR and may need to move between programs as needed. Other faculty and
staff are also invited (but not required) to participate.
The retreat begins on Monday January 11 with a large group discussion followed by breakout
groups within each program: AuD and SLP. The next day also begins with a brief whole group
‘meeting at which summary presentations will take place to share progress across programs.
Matt Bakke will facilitate the whole-group discussions; AuD program discussions will be
facilitated by Wendy Hanks and SLP program discussions will be facilitated by Brenda Seal and
Karen Garrido-Nag (for Mary June Moseley)
Please be prepared to share your ideas and express your views in an atmosphere of collegiality,
respect for differences and open communication
‘These are the expected outcomes from this retreat:
1. Complete drafts of curricula for each program (AuD and SLP) including a summary of
proposed changes.
2. For each curriculum (AuD and SLP):
a. A\list of unresolved issues.
b. Personnel assignments, work plans, including time-tines, for resolution of each
unresolved issue.
¢. For each course/program change:
