1) Ch 19, semi loosely. Make 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc 16. Make 3 sc in last ch. Working across
other side of ch, sc 16.
From now on, place a stitch marker on the first st of every row, so you can keep track of where your
row begins.
2) Make 3 sc in the top of the first sc of previous row. Sc in next. Make 3 sc in next. Sc 16. Make 3 sc

Flap - 6mm hook, 2 strands of yarn held together

1) Ch 11 semi loosely, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea across.
2 - 4) Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (10 sts total).

8 - 12) Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (14 sts total).
13) Ch 2, turn. 2dc in next. Dc 12. 3dc in next.
14) Working up the side edge now, dc 11 (1 dc in the end of ea row). Make 3 dc in corner.
15) Working across top now, dc 8. Make 3 dc in corner.
16) Working down last side, dc 11 (1 dc in the end of ea row). Join to the top of the beg ch2 with a sl
st.
17) Continuing around, Sl st 8. Switch to 3.75mm hook, ch 6. Switch to 6mm hook, continue to sl st
around the edge of the flap until you reach the first sl st. Sl st through the center of the first sl st, cut
yarn and pull the end through. Weave in the end.
18) Sew the flap to the body of the purse using the long end left at the beginning of flap. Whip stitch
through the center most 14 sts on the top of the flap and the top of the back side of the purse - make
sure the right sides are facing out. Weave in the end when finished. NOTE- it is ok if the top of the
flap looks shorter than the top of the purse. It will even out as you sew as long as you match the sts
up as you work.
19) Sew the button onto the body of purse, approx. 3 rows up from the bottom, centered.
Pockets - 6mm hook, 1 strand of yarn. Make one for each side.
1) Ch 9. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea across.
2 - 12) Ch 1, turn. Sc across (8 sts total).
13) Ch 2, turn. Dc across.
14) Ch 1, working down the side, sc 2 in the end of the dc row, and sc 1 in the end of each sc row.(14
sts total).
15) Sl st across the bottom edge (8 sl st total).
16) Sc in the end of ea row up the side, make 2 sc in the end of the dc row. (14 sc total). End off,
leaving a long tail for sewing.
17) Center the pocket on the side of the purse. The top edge of the pocket should line up with the
bottom of the dc row on the purse body. Sew pocket to purse, making sure to line up the rows and
keeping the pocket straight. May help to pin the pocket in place first.

Strap - 8 strands of yarn, 10mm hook

1) Cut eight 240" lengths of yarn (4 of each color if using two colors). This will be enough for a 50"
strap.
2) Using the 10mm hook, and holding all 8 strands together, pull through the top st on the side of the
purse right next to the flap (on either side). Ch 90, or however many your yarn length allows. Join to
corresponding st on opposite side of purse. End off. On first side, pull the ends through the center of
the first ch made, so that the ends hang on the outside of the purse. Pull the ends tight, and cut to be
even on both sides - 3 to 6 inches or length of choice. To add extra security to the strap, sew the
ends in place.

Weave in any loose ends. Finished! Perhaps get creative with some embroidery, fringe, or other dec-
orations? =)
