2017 Summer Driver Education Program at CSW

Classroom Sessions I & II are scheduled for The Charter School of Wilmington Campus and Classroom
Session III is tentatively scheduled for James H. Groves Adult High Schools Stanton, DE location. If Sign-
ups for Session III exceed classroom capacity at Groves, the classroom session will be moved to The Charter
School of Wilmington Campus. Email updates will be sent out monthly.

Classroom Phase
Enrollees may choose from one of the three 1-week classroom sessions:

Classroom Session I: Monday, June 19th Friday, June 23rd (8:00 AM 3:00 PM)

Classroom Session II: Monday, July 10th Friday, July 14th (8:00 AM 3:00 PM)

Classroom Session III: Monday, July 24th Friday, July 28th (8:00 AM 3:00 PM)

Driving Phase
The Driving Phase is completed in one week, usually after the completion of the one-week classroom
session. Students may select both the preferred driving week and time slots when registering for the
class. Students who sign up early will be given preference in driving times and week; however, we do our
very best to accommodate your scheduling needs. Driving Weeks are available all summer starting the week
of June 26 through August 7. Students will drive Monday through Thursday for approximately 2 hours
and 40 minutes. Estimated Driving Time Slots are listed below.

Students may not drive and attend the classroom session during the same week.

Cost: $550

Exception: Students who are homeschooled, attend an out-of-State high school, or who attend a private
school with less than 25 sophomores enrolled, may take the summer course for an administrative fee
of $25 if they will have completed the 10th grade (as of 6/19/17) and are deemed eligible to receive driver
education funding from the State of Delaware.
Driving Phase / Instruction Only: Students who have successfully completed the classroom phase
(during the past six months) may sign up for just the Driving Phase, for a fee of $300. Please contact Mr.
Wilson at 443-553-4122 to discuss student eligibility for the driving only phase.

All students need to have successfully completed 5 credits during the 2016-2017 school year, and are
required to bring in a copy of their final report card as proof of eligibility for the program. Students must
pass both the Classroom and Driving Phases to receive a Blue Certificate in order to obtain their Graduated
Drivers License.

Driver Education is offered free of charge to all Delaware tenth grade students during the school year.
Students who choose not to take the Driver Education course during the school year, or have not successfully
completed the course during the school year, must pay $550 to take Charters Summer Driver Education
Program.

Payment for the Course: Personal checks should be made payable to CSW and mailed at least two weeks
prior to the desired classroom session. Summer Dr. Ed. should be noted on the memo line.

Cash payments should be made in person during registration the first day of class. Do not bring in the
money to the Charter School Office, please.

You may pay for the course through Pay Pal upon request; however there will be an additional charge
(3%) for the service.
