Model of a gear:
Dimensions:
External circle radius = 150mm

Teeth height = 20mm

Fillet radius = 2m

Key radius =16mm

Solid model:
Wireframe model:
Comparison:
1. Wireframe model shows the outlines of the 3d gear while solid model shows
complete structure of the 3d gear.
2. Wireframe model of gear doesnt contain information about the surface of
gear model while solid model contains information about the surface of gear
model.
3. In wireframe model of the gear we can view the unused and wrong nodes,
vertexes and edges and rectify them easily. While in solid model of gear we
cant view the unused and wrong nodes easily as object doesnt remain
transparent anymore.
4. Wireframe model of gear doesnt contain information about the volume of
gear model while solid model contains information about the volume of gear
model.
5. Wireframe file of gear is light in file size as only the information about edges
and vertexes is saved while solid model file of gear is heavy in file size
because all the information like color size vertexes etc is saved.
6. Wireframe model file is regenerate easily on the screen while solid model file
takes very long to regenerate on the screen mainly while rendering the
complete file.
7. Wireframe model is unable to differentiate between inside and outside of
gear while solid model is able to differentiate between inside and outside of
gear.
8. Wireframe model of gear is Ambiguous in the way to represent it while solid
model of the gear is unambiguous in the way to represent it.
9. Wireframe model of gear is lack of visual coherence while solid model of gear
is fully visual coherence.
10.Wireframe model of gear is not used for finite element analysis while solid
model of gear is used for finite element analysis.
