C OURSE D ESCRIPTION : Procurement is a specialized subject which requires a high
degree of knowledge and skill of those who are engaged in procurement of goods,
works and services. Absence of adequate rules, procedures and other standard docu-
ments in Bangladesh has created serious problems in the implementation of procure-
ment functions. As a result, the Public Procurement Rules, 2008 were published in the
official gazette on January 24, 2008 giving them immediate effect from January 31,
2008. The Rules are now being used through the country for procurement of goods,
works and services in the public sector.

C OURSE O BJECTIVE :

To make the participants aware of the importance of supply and material management

To give them better idea about purchasing, techniques, strategies and procedures

To acquaint the participants with modern, sophisticated techniques of stock control

To improve their knowledge about proper storage and maintenance of materials

T ARGET A UDIENCE : Class-1 officers of different ministries, departments, director-

ates and autonomous bodies involved in purchasing, stock control and warehousing
