Thesis Statement: The effects of Corruption to the Filipino living in the

Philippines.

What is corruption? Many of us knows already about it. Corruption is

the abuse of public resources or public power for personal gain. A personal
gain in which people will be blinded in many aspects as long as they can
benefit from it they forgot that they already doing a crime cause
CORRUPTION IS A CRIME. Corruption is a pervasive and long-standing
problem in the Philippines. Recent government efforts have improved the
countrys ranking in Transparency Internationals Corruption Perceptions
Index from 105 in 2012 to 94 in 2013. Nevertheless, corruption ranked
second among the most problematic factors for doing business in the World
Economic Forums 2013-2014 Global Competitiveness Report, with
inadequate supply of infrastructure ranked first.

Corruption occurs in developed nations as well, particularly in ones

where there is a strong correlation between financial worth, status and
power. In some instances, corruption can have some short-term positive
effects, particularly in those nations where too much government control is
placed over resources. Here, corruption with the community still provides a
system in which private citizens can gain those resources at a price and
temporarily stabilizes the economy. Ultimately, though, corruption usually
has negative effects on an economy through the funding of money into
bribes and overpricing of goods and services, which puts a financial strain on
too many people for too long. It also leads to tremendous distrust of public
officials by citizens. It may also lead to an overall increase in crime. Greed,
the desire for power and the wish to advance oneself in society are primary
reasons for corruption. Corruption typically flourishes in societies in which
there is a high value placed on money, power and station in life. Its effects
might include instability, distrust and unjustness.
 Lets further talk about the effects of the corruption in people living in
the Philippines. People in the Philippines are sick of corrupt officials they tend
to use their power in their Personal interest. People are tired of corruptions
here in the Philippines because of them many of Filipinos nowadays hold a
grudge to those who are working in a government. Corruption have a big
impact in Filipinos instead of corrupting they can help us because many
people in the street are in hunger they can even help those people. They can
help establish a rehabilitation, give help to those who are in need, and most
especially they can help whenever there is a disaster in the country. Because
of corrupt officials many Filipinos force to do something wrong like stealing,
hold-up everywhere because they cant seek help to those who are in the
government. They already know that officials wont help them. They were
afraid to be ignored and rejected maybe some of officials will help them but
its not enough.

Now that many of the officials is newly elected I think we have a big
possibilities that they can help us whenever Filipinos are in needs. Mostly the
poor people like us we cant help but to have hope that the newly officials is
far different from the previous officials. Corruption leads to cynicism and an
"every man for himself" mentality. When the people around them have no
integrity, it leads people to become corrupt themselves and compromise
their own integrity.
