January 2017 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Guardian,
I hope you had a nice Christmas and I wish you all a happy and peaceful new year. I want to bring the following
items to your attention in this January Newsletter:
Enrolment for Junior Infants 2017
Scoil Chrost R is accepting applications for enrolment of junior infants for September 2017. You can call into the
school and you will be most welcome to receive an application form for enrolment. If you know anybody looking
to enrol their child in the school, please tell them to contact the school office for an application form. The closing
date for receipt of applications is Thursday, February 9th at 3pm. Please return application forms before this
date.
Christmas Plays
The children gave fantastic performances in the plays in Juniors, Seniors, 1st and 2nd classes and many thanks to the
teachers and teacher assistants who prepared the children for the plays. I hope you enjoyed the plays and Ms
Murphy has uploaded the plays onto our school website and you view them there on www.criostri.weebly.com

Clothes Collection
We are holding our annual clothes collection fundraiser again for the month of January. Bags of clothes will be
accepted until Friday February 3rd. If you are throwing out old clothes or know of anybody throwing out old
clothes after Christmas, we will accept them here at school.

Thank you for Fundraising

Our recent bag packing in Dunnes Stores and music in Tesco fundraisers were a fantastic success. Thanks to
everyone who helped out for your support on both days. The money raised in our fundraising is for our new school
development. Extra costs that we need to fundraise for in our new school include: - All weather/astro turf pitch -
extra play areas and yard space - classroom furniture laptop and tablet computers for the children - Wi-Fi system
- perimeter fencing. We want to have the best new school that we can possibly have for your children and thank
you for your help with fundraising so far.

Attendance and arriving at school on time

Pupil attendance is monitored on a daily basis on our school computer system. Since we returned to school
on the 31st of August, we have had an excellent average attendance of 94.2%. The Educational Welfare
Officer has to be contacted if any child misses more than 20 days.
Children must be in school on time for the 9.00 a.m. bell. Also the children in Junior and Senior Infants
must be collected at 1.40 p.m. and please make sure your child is collected at 1.40 p.m. sharp. Please
come to school on time. If your child is late they are missing out on school time and interrupting the class.
