Marine Protected Areas Governance (MPAG) is a USAID-funded program that provides support to the Government of Indonesia to designate
and effectively manage marine protected areas spanning 20 million hectares by 2020. MPAG is an implementation of US Government support
within the framework of United States Coral Triangle Initiative (USCTI). In the national context, MPAG Program supports Goal 3 of the National
Plan of Action (NPOA) Indonesia, i.e. Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Established and Effectively Managed.
MPAG is part of Marine Resources Program (MRP) and the continuation from Coral Triangle Support Partnership (CTSP) Indonesia. This
program is designed jointly with relevant directorates in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the local governments, to ensure its
supports are aligned with the Governments policies. MPAG programs are subsequently implemented by a consortium consisting of Conservation
International (CI), Coral Triangle Center (CTC), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and WWF Indonesia.
