Control/Operation philosophy for DM water pumps

1. DM Water forwarding pumps pumps 2 nos.(1 working + 1 standby ) operation will

be done using a Local Starter cum control panel (Hard wired, relay based) placed
near the pumps.

3. Low and Low low level switches shall be used in the DM water storage tank. Low
level switch shall be utilized for low level alarm in local control panel. Low low
level switch shall be used for tripping running pump as well as indication in local
control panel. The low low level switch shall also be used for start-up interlock of
forwarding pumps.

4. A pressure switch shall be used at the common discharge of the DM Water

forwarding pumps. This pressure switch shall detect low discharge pressure and
provide alarm in the local control panel.

5. In addition to above alarms, there shall also be status indicating lamps for pump
status indication in the panel.

6. No remote operation for the pumps shall be envisaged. A common alarm for
system trouble will be routed to DCS.

7. DM Water forwarding pumps shall be manually started or stopped through the

local control panel. No auto start operation envisaged offor stand by pump in
case of tripping of running pump due to any fault. Only alarm to DCS for alert and
manual restoration of system is envisaged.
