Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:
This is a picture of the classroom expectation poster that hangs in the front of my
classroom. The students and I designed these expectations together on the first day of
school. This artifact meets this standard criteria by communicating to students the
established expectations for our classroom. This artifact helps me maintain our
classroom procedures because I use the poster to refer back to when students are
forgetting or disregarding the expectations.

Reflection on the artifact:

Developing these expectations went really well. The decision to develop these as a
class helped my students take ownership and responsibility for our classroom culture. I
decided to limit the number of expectations to four and to state them in a positive
manner. I did this to develop a positive classroom culture, and that was a successful
choice for me. The decision to post these expectations in a prominent place has been
instrumental for our classroom. I frequently point back to our expectations to remind
students of what I am looking for, especially when they are acting disrespectful. This is
an activity I plan on doing again next year. Next year, however, I want students to sign
the expectations after we create them.
