Carvers Instructional Focus
Carver has a rich history in the town
of Pinetops. Our goal is to honor
who we are, what we are, and how to
move forward. Carver is a renowned
school with a great staff that
continues to have the reputation of
being a devoted family.
Over the summer break, our School
Improvement Team met to discuss
where Carver is and our academic
needs. Student growth is greatly
attributed to a qualified teachers
hard work and dedication in
responding to individual student
needs, not necessarily by the
implementation of a specific
program.
This school year, our instructional
focus will rely on the following to
support outstanding teaching and
learning. Our main instructional
goals will include:
1. K-5 Individual Student Data
Notebooks and data
conversations with students
2. Math Small Group
Instruction
3. Strategic Guided Reading
Instruction
We believe that strategic teaching
and students having a clear road
map of where they are and
achievable goals will propel our
students to great heights. Our goals
focus on the foundation of solid,
effective teaching.
Throughout this school year, our
PLCs will be focused around these
three goals and student/teacher data
to drive our instruction.

decision making body for this school. Please
utilize your representatives to provide a way
to make meaningful changes. SIT members
are responsible for reviewing the School
Improvement Plan with each employee in
their group/grade level to ensure their
understanding. EVERY employee is
responsible for making sure that the School
Improvement Plan is implemented.

2016-2017 School Year
1. All staff are expected to work
cooperatively with all stakeholders to
provide a safe, orderly, caring, and
nurturing environment for everyone.
2. Teachers should maximize
instructional time and have a sense
of urgency to grow students.
3. We are responsible for teaching and
having high expectations for all
students.
4. Students should be actively engaged
in learning.
5. Teachers should have small group
math instruction daily as well as
guided reading groups daily.
