HAVING A DRINK
131 Amr ibn Shuayb reported from his father who reported from [Amrs]
grandfather K, who said, I saw Allhs Messenger H drinking while standing and
sitting. (Jmi al-Tirmidh 1884)
132 Ab Sad al-Khudr I reported, Allhs Messenger H forbade [us] from
drinking while standing. (a Muslim 5278)
133 Ab Qatdah I reported, The Prophet H forbade [us] from blowing into
the utensil [. . .]. (a Muslim 615)
134 Anas I reported, Allhs Messenger H used to take three breaths when
drinking. He [also] explained, This [method] is more quenching, healthy and whole-
some. (a Muslim 5287)
135 Anas ibn Mlik I reported, A domesticated ewe that was in Anas ibn
Mliks house was milked for Allhs Messenger H. The milk was mixed with water
from a well, which was also in Anass house. Anas gave the cup to Allhs Messenger
H, so he drank from it. When he removed the cup from his mouth, Ab Bakr I was
on his left side, while a Bedouin was on his right. Umar I feared the Prophet H
would give the cup to the Bedouin and said, Messenger of Allh, give it to Ab Bakr,
who is beside you. He [the Prophet H] gave it to the Bedouin who was on his right
and said, [Pass it] to the right, then to the right. (a al-Bukhr 2352)
136 Anas ibn Mlik I reported, Allhs Messenger H said, Allh becomes
pleased with a servant when the servant eats some food and praises Allh over it, or
drinks a beverage and praises Allh over it. (a Muslim 6932)

his hair with? (Sunan al-Nasa 5238)
138 Ibn Masd I reported, Allhs Messenger H would say, O Allh, you have
beautified my physical features, so beautify my character. (a Ibn ibbn 955)
139 Anas ibn Mlik I reported, Allhs Messenger H would apply oil to his
hair and thoroughly comb his beard (Shamil al-Tirmidh)
140 Ab Qatdah al-Anr I reported that he asked Allhs Messenger H, I
have hair that goes down to my shoulders. Should I comb it? Allhs Messenger H
replied, Yes and honour it. (Muaa li-Imm Mlik 763)

as much as possible in all of his affairs: when attaining ritual purity, combing his hair

Messenger H, I would begin parting [it] from his crown, and I would drop the hair
