INTRODUCTION

Barangay Mambugan was created under the R.A. 3590 on June 22,
1963. It is the 4th smallest in terms of size with a total land area of
368.21 hectares. Its boundaries are:
On North: Barangay Mayamot and Cupang; on East/Southeast:
Barangay Sta. Cruz;
On West: Municipality of Cainta.
Residential area constitutes the largest portion of Barangay
Mambugan.
Commercial and minor industrial areas are concentrated along
Marcos Highway and Sumulong Highway.
The projected population of Barangay Mambugan for the year is
55,434. This is the 6th smallest in terms of population among
sixteen (16) barangays in Antipolo City. 70% of the total
population belongs to the informal settlers, 25% are middle class,
and 5% belongs to the upper class.
There are more or less 1,200 small to big scale of business
establishments present in the barangay. There are two main
health centers and four sub-health centers. Main Health centers
are located in Villa Cecilia and Barangay Hall. Sub-health centers
are located in: Purok Maligaya 2, Siruna, Virginia Summerville, and
Ruhat 5 Upper. These health centers are capable of providing pre
and post natal care, immunization, family planning, etc.
Education is being served by both public and private schools, and
day care centers.
There are nine Day Care centers, two public elementary schools,
one public high
school, and nine private schools.
Much of the water supply comes from Manila Water whereas quite
a number usedeep well, spring water, and water from delivery
trucks.
MERALCO supplies the power needs of Barangay Mambugan.
Power services are distributed to the following types of consumers:
residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.
The existing telecommunication network of Barangay Mambugan
is being served by PLDT, DigiTel, BayanTel, Smart, Globe, Suncell,
Touchmobile, Talk & Text. Cable servies are provided by Sun Cable.
PYSICAL FEATURES
Location
The City of Antipolo is located in the northern half of Rizal
Province. It is boundedon the north, by the Municipality of
Rodriguez (formerly Montalban); on the northwest, bythe City of
Marikina and Municipality of San Mateo; on the southwest, by the
Municipalities of Taytay and Cainta; on the southeast, by the
Municipalities of Tanay,Teresa and Baras; and on the east, by
Quezon Province. Barangay Mambugan is located in the
Southwestern part of the Municipality of Antipolo.

The soil of Barangay Mambugan is composed of Marikina Clay.
The Marikina Clay series occurs in two mapping units, the non-
flodded and the slightly flodded soil phases. This soil series is
found on level to nearly level minor alluvial plains, i.e., on
slopes ranging from 0% to 2 % and can be seen in Brgy.
Mayamot, Muntindilaw and Mambugan.
Somewhat poorly drained and clayey in texture, this alluvium
derived soil has A horizons which are not more than 30 cm.
thick and has colors varying from gray, light gray, greenish
gray with strong brown, yellowish red, and brown to dark

system, Antipolo has a Type I
Climate. Type I Climate is characterized by two pronounced
seasons: dry from November to April and wet during the rest
of the year. Maximum rain period is from June to September.
This climate is considered to be Am according to the Kppen-
Geiger climate classification.
Rainfall
The precipitation varies 288 mm between the driest month
and the wettest
month. There is 44 mm of precipitation in February. Most
precipitation falls in November,with an average of 332 mm

 A. PHYSICAL Manila. Antipolo can be accessed from Marikina City via the
INFRASTRUCTURE Sumulong Highway; extends to the Poblacion from Cubao, Quezon
City via the Marcos Highway; extends eastward to Quezon
Subdivisions / Villages Province through the Marikina-Infanta Road; and from
La Colina Subdivision - Gertrudes St., Mambugan, Antipolo Cainta/Taytay via Ortigas Extension. Sumulong Highway and
City Marikina-Infanta are major roads that cut through Brgy.

Solid Waste Management
The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000
otherwise known as RA 9003 gave the local government units
the primary responsibility of carrying out the mandate of
implementing the Ecological Solid Waste Management
Program within their respective areas of jurisdiction. This law
emphasizes the vital role of the barangay in the successful
implementation of the program particularly in segregation,
collection and recycling of waste at source to substantively
reduce the generation of wastes.

SWM actives compose the seven elements of Solid Waste
Management System which includes 1) waste generation; 2)
storage and handling; 3) waste collection; 4) transfer and
transport; 5) recycling; 6) processing and recovery; and 7)
final disposal. The City Government shall assist the barangay
either financially, technically or in any other manner
necessary in order to achieve the waste diversion goal as
provided in RA 9003.

Solid waste collection fleet and areas of responsibility:
Only 14 out of the 16 Barangays have their own waste
collection trucks. A total of 32 garbage vehicles of different
loading capacities are available for waste collection. The
coverage of the barangay collection units includes inner
streets, Sitios, subdivisions and some selected establishments
operating within their area of responsibility. The City
hassecured a 10 hectare site located in Sitio Tanza I,
Barangay San Jose, which is also the
location of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
There are thirteen Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) situated
in seven
barangays of the City. MRF serves as the establishment that
receives and segregates garbage as well as prepares
recyclable materials for other beneficial or income generating
uses. The MRF should ideally be located near the source of
waste, in order to lessen the volume of garbage that will be
brought to the dumpsite. Some MRFs such as the one in Dalig
practice composting of waste to produce organic fertilizers.
Dalig MRF also produces pavers (similar to bricks) from
pulverized hard plastic and other souvenir items out of
newspaper, tetrapack, etc.

There are now many ways from Metro Manila and its neighboring
provinces to Antipolo, although several of these eventually merge
into three main roads route to the Antipolo. One is via the old
route along Ortigas Avenue, a second is the route via Sumulong
Highway, and the third is through a back door via the Antipolo-
Teresa Road. Routes from the general areas of Manila, Makati,
Pasig, Mandaluyong.
PUJs
Public transportations mostly jeepneys as the city is the end point
of many routes a testament to its importance even as a
reference point for public transportation. One can easily spot the
Antipolo-Cubao jeepneys in the Araneta Center in the Cubao
business district in Quezon City. There are two lines, one via Cainta
Junction (where jeepneys eventually turn to Ortigas Avenue) and
another via Marcos Highway, turning at the Masinag Junction
towards Sumulong Highway). Another terminal is at the EDSA
Central near the Ortigas Center in Mandaluyong where Antipolo-
Crossing jeepneys are queued. And still there is another, albeit
somewhat informal terminal near Jose Rizal University (JRU, which
was formerly a college and hence the old JRC endpoint), which

Hazard Areas
Antipolo City is vulnerable to flood and landslide. The Antipolo
Hazard Map shows that flooding frequently occurs in
residential subdivisions and roads that are near the creeks.
The common observation is that many of these subdivisions
encroach the creeks, causing it to immediately overflow
during heavy rains. At the same time, many creeks and canals
in the urban areas of the City are already narrow that it cannot
carry large quantities of rain water. Marcos Highway is also
flood prone due to its low elevation and the
shallowMuntindilaw Creek and Marikina River.
Occurrence of landslides was observed along Sumulong
Highway, where developments on top of hills were in place.
Other areas that experience landslides are usually in
residential areas located on sloping areas. Barangay
Mambugan on the otherhand is located where there are no
fault lines. Earthquake occurrences cause minimal damage to
the barangay.

In projecting the citys populations from 2015 to
2020, the National Statistics Office suggested to use
a 4.5% annual growth rate. Based on this calculation,
the population should reach the one million mark by
year 2018.
