Mission

National Library of China (NLC) is committed to


preserving and sustaining a national record of
knowledge and creativity for future generations
and making its resources and services available
and useful to the nation and it’s people.
Functions

Priorities
• PRIORITY 1 is to acquire, organize, preserve, secure and sustain a
comprehensive record and memory of Chinese history and creativity;

• PRIORITY 2 is to develop a national repository of human knowledge and


the creative work for the present and future generations;

• PRIORITY 3 is to make its resources and services available and useful to


it’s designed users, and provide convenient and effective access to high
quality library services, collections and information resources in a variety of
formats;

• PRIORITY 4 is to promote the nation’s information literacy by adding


interpretive and educational value to the collection and resources, and to
highlight the importance of the Library's contributions to the nation's future
progress.
